In a recent update regarding the attack on Saif Ali Khan at his Mumbai residence on January 16, the fingerprints of the accused, Bangladeshi national Shariful Fakir, have matched those collected from the Bollywood actor's home. However, the final report on the fingerprints is still pending.
On Thursday, a police official confirmed that two staff members at Saif Ali Khan's residence identified Shariful Fakir as the individual who attacked the actor after gaining entry into his home.

Last month, the city police revealed that a facial recognition test confirmed the arrested Bangladeshi man's face matched the individual seen in the CCTV footage from the Satguru Sharan building in Bandra, where the actor resides. Shariful allegedly broke into the Bollywood star’s 12th-floor apartment in the early hours of January 16 and stabbed him six times before fleeing the scene, according to reports.
He was apprehended three days later in the neighboring Thane city. After the knife attack, Khan, 54, was taken to the nearby Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent two surgeries. He was discharged from the private hospital on January 21.
