Sunjay Kapur Funeral: Karisma Kapoor stands by kids as Kiaan and Samaira offer final goodbye

The final rites of businessman Sunjay Kapur were held in New Delhi after his sudden death in London on June 12. Sunjay, 53, reportedly suffered a heart attack during a polo match, which some sources suggest may have been triggered by a bee sting. An official cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

Sunjay Kapur, the former husband of actor Karisma Kapoor, was cremated at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground. Karisma arrived at the funeral with her children daughter Samaira and son Kiaan to pay her respects.

Images that surfaced on Instagram showed Karisma Kapoor in a white suit offering floral tributes, flanked by her children, as son Kiaan broke down during the emotional farewell, while Kareena Kapoor stood beside her offering silent support. The sombre event was attended by close family members and well-wishers. Karisma and her kids were seen getting up from the ground after performing their final goodbye.

Earlier in the day, Karisma was seen at the Mumbai private airport with Samaira and Kiaan, as they left for Delhi. Later, her sister Kareena Kapoor was spotted at the airport as well, accompanied by her husband Saif Ali Khan. Sunjay and Karisma tied the knot in 2003 and were parents to two children. The couple filed for divorce in 2014 through mutual consent, which was finalised two years later in 2016.

According to a circulated note shared by the family, a prayer meet has been scheduled for June 22 at the Taj Palace Hotel in Delhi from 4 PM to 5 PM. The note is signed by Sunjay’s mother Rani Surinder Kapur, his wife Priya, and children Safira and Azarias. It also names Samaira and Kiaan. The news of Sunjay’s passing has left both the business and film fraternity in deep shock. His untimely demise during a routine sporting event has raised many questions, though the family continues to maintain privacy while grieving the loss.
