Mumbai, Oct 14 (IANS) West Bengal's singing sensation Aneek Dhar emerged the winner of Zee TV'S popular talent hunt show 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa', beating Raj Hasan of Rajasthan and Amanat Ali from Pakistan at a star-studded event here.
Aneek walked away with a Rs.5-million contract with Universal Music and a Chevrolet Spark car at the grand finale of the show 'Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge - Sangeet ka Pratham Vishwayudh' Sunday night.
After his win, an overwhelmed Aneek hugged his mentor musician Himesh Reshammiya and said: 'Sir I love you.'
Bollywood star Akshay Kumar announced the much-awaited results and General Motors' Ankush Arora handed over the car keys, while Puneet Goenka of Zee TV gave Aneek the trophy.
Aneek received over 36 million votes from over 100 countries. The final show at the Andheri sports complex here was a starry affair as actors Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, singers Udit Narayan and Sudesh Bhosle along with the five judges - Vishal-Shekhar, Reshammiya, Ismail Darbar and Bappi Lahiri graced the event.
Akshay rocked the event as he performed to the popular title song from his recent release 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa'.
Vidya, looking graceful in a black sari, announced the name of the second runner up, Amanat Ali, who got over 34 million votes.
'I never thought that I will reach the final three. I'm thankful to all the audiences across the globe who have voted for me and helped me in reaching here,' said Amanat, whose entire family was present at the event.
Poonam Yadav, one of the 13 finalists who were eliminated, received the 'Spark of the Show' title. She won Chevrolet Spark car and US-based contestant Mouli was adjudged the best performer of the show.
Leading actors from TV serials, including Rajshree Thakur, Sharad Malhotra and Amrita Prakash, also attended the gala show.
Debojeet Saha, who had won the 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa' title in 2005, also enthralled the audiences with his performance.
