Vishnu Manchu’s much-anticipated Telugu film Kannappa, a mythological epic, is set for a global release on June 27, 2025. As the film nears its theatrical debut, the producers have issued a stern warning to online trolls and critics. The team has emphasized their intention to take strict legal action against any attempts to defame or misrepresent the film ahead of its release.

In a statement posted on the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the film, the Kannappa team announced: “Public Caution Notice. Our film Kannappa releases globally on June 27, 2025, with full lawful clearances. Misuse, distortion, or defamatory acts against the film or its stakeholders will be legally challenged.”

The makers further urged the audience to approach the film with an open mind, calling for a more responsible engagement rather than jumping to conclusions or initiating negative campaigns. “The film has been created responsibly to engage with the public at large. We request all critiques to watch the film first, appreciate its substance, understand the intent, and then comment responsibly, instead of resorting to premeditated biases or vendetta-driven commentary," the statement added.

The producers highlighted the delicate balance between free speech and targeted harassment, reiterating their stance on the matter. “While we recognize that the right to freedom of speech and expression is sacrosanct under Article 19 (1)(a) of the Constitution of India, judicial interpretations have established that intentional and destructive attacks on a creative work—whether physical or reputational—are not protected as free speech. Such acts are considered actionable injury, and we reserve the right to pursue legal action,” they emphasized.

The statement also pointed out that the Delhi High Court had granted legal protection to the images and identities of the film’s lead actor, Vishnu Manchu, and veteran actor, Mohan Babu. “The Hon’ble Delhi High Court has granted protection to the personality and publicity rights of two key stakeholders, Dr. Mohan Babu and Mr. Vishnu Manchu. Any attempt to tarnish their persona or use their image without authorization may result in legal consequences, as per the court's directive,” the team concluded.

With tensions running high in the online sphere, the Kannappa team is taking a firm stance to safeguard the film’s integrity and the reputations of those involved. As the release date draws closer, the makers have made it clear that they will not tolerate any defamatory attacks on their work or personnel.
