Ajay Devgn delivered an impressive performance in Om Raut’s Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, which also turned out to be a massive blockbuster at the box office. While Tanhaji was his last outing on screen, he has been working on numerous projects during the lockdown.

In a piece of good news, the much talked about film based on the ancient Indian philosopher, that was reported to be shelved, is now back on track. Writer-lyricist Manoj Muntashir has confirmed that the film is still on the cards.

While speaking to Mid Day, Muntashir stated that Chanakya was postponed due to the pandemic and Ajay Devgn will wrap up work on his prior commitments before starting the project by end of the year. “Chanakya has been delayed due to the pandemic. Ajay only resumed filming in November and will wrap up his prior commitments before working on this. We should roll in the last quarter of 2021” he said.

The writer also shared that Ajay will be going bald to play Chakanya in the film, which also means that he will not be able to work on other projects simultaneously. He also added that he feels that the film is 'Oscar Worthy' and way too precious to be shelved.

Furthermore, he also shared how the director Neeraj Pandey and he travelled across India, including Bihar, where Pataliputra [now, Patna] is situated, as part of research. “ For a year-and-a-half, we focused on travelling and reading Chanakya’s books, including Kautilya, before putting pen to paper. Neeraj is so brilliant that the process was a cakewalk” he said.

Well, this news has left us excited and we are surely looking forward to witness Ajay Devgn play Chanakya.

Meanwhile, the actor recently announced his new film titled ‘Thank God’ also starring Sidharth Malhotra and Rakulpreet Singh. The comedy film is set to go on floors from 21st January 2021. He also has the sports drama ‘Maidaan’ in his pipeline, which is scheduled to release in theatres on October 15, 2021, on the occasion of Dussehra. The shooting of the film is scheduled to resume this month.
