CHAPTER 16
It was afternoon and Shaurya came back from office excited to see Mehak again, Karuna was in her room, he looked here and there to see if anyone was there and went near the servant quarters to look through the windows to see if Mehak was inside but he couldn't see clearly. He thought to change and then search for her where she was. He went to his room to change and came out looking for Mehak. He went towards the kitchen hoping she will be there alone, he tried to peek there but only saw Ella and another woman (Meera) in the kitchen, he knew right away it was Meera as he asked Ella earlier about it, both Ella and Meera were having some conversation and Meera was seemed really sad, he closed in to hear what they were talking about
"Doctor told that the tumour is in stage 1 if you start treatment now you have a better chance of survival, we will tell Karuna mam and Harish Sir they surely will help you with the expenses as they run lots of charities and donate lots of funds to the hospitals Ella told Meera who was trying to hold back tears, Ella put her hand on her should, "You need to tell Mehak too, she has every right to know and you fought back through bad situations before you can still do it. Meera wiped away her tears "I am not worried about whats going to happen to me, I am more worried about Mehak, what her reaction will be, my child has grown up without her father who she loved a lot and losing me will shatter her. Ella consoled Meera and told her everything will be fine, Mehak is a fighter and like before she will fight and get through this situation as well to get you both out of it. "I can't tell her right now Ella, she had already sacrificed her life up till now for me, I have been ill most of the time while she used to work day and night just to pay my hospital bills, run the house and get my medicines, my child has suffered always when of her age girls dream of different life altogether she has seen hardships only.
Shaurya had tears in his eyes listening to all this, he felt really bad for Meera and Mehak. Meera was suffering from a tumour yet she didn't want to tell Mehak who meant the world to her and Mehak his Mehak now who he had no idea had such a hard life, he didn't know about her father, didn't know what she had been through while this time he thought only he had a bad childhood, its nothing compared to the pain and suffering she has gone through. He looked at Meera and said to himself that from now on you have a son as well and his name is Shaurya Khanna and he will take care of you in every way, he will make sure you get proper treatment and he will make sure that your daughter, his Mehak gets all the happiness in the world, that is my promise to you.
Mehak was in her room as Meera had sent her away from the kitchen to get some rest as she was outside all day and must be tired. She was disappointed that she didn't find any work, she had lots on her mind suddenly she remembered Karuna words and thought what did she mean by that? Meera came in the room and saw Mehak sitting on the bed thinking, she went and sat beside her, Mehak came out of her thoughts when she saw her mother besides her and smiled at her. Mehak put her head on Meera's shoulder who wrapped her arms around her. Mehak asked her when will the difficult times in their lives go away? Meera had no answer to the question, she tried to console her by telling her that this time will pass away soon, there is a light at the end of every tunnel. Mehak felt some comfort by her mother's words, she got her head up and looked at Meera and then looked down. Meera asked her what was the problem? Mehak was reluctant to ask at first but told her what Karuna had asked her. Meera sighed and told Mehak that Karuna didn't like girls around the house because she has a son and told her its better if she doesn't go in the house when he is around. Mehak nodded and assured her she will keep herself away.
Shaurya was in his room thinking about Meera and how he will help her. He was pacing his room when someone knocked on the door, he told them to come in, it was Karuna she had come to inform him that she is going out for a party and she will be late. Shaurya had now gotten used to his mom's constant disappearances as that's what has been happening all his life. He just told her Okay and she was gone. Karuna had instructed Ella that only she be serving dinner to Shaurya not anyone else. Ella got what she meant that Mehak shouldn't be in the house while she is gone. Shaurya came out in the living room, Karuna was gone, he thought of it as a perfect opportunity to see Mehak. Ella asked Shaurya where she would like to have his dinner, he told her he wasn't hungry and he will tell her if he needs anything. Ella nodded and went away. Mehak, Ella and Meera were having their dinner in the kitchen, Shaurya peeped in and he was Mehak was facing him and he smiled. He told himself how can one look so beautiful while only eating. He knew he wanted to talk to both Meera and Mehak , firstly he needs to convince Meera for treatment. They had their dinner Shaurya hid herself and peeped again trying to see what was happening. Mehak told them she will clean up everything and be done in sometime. Meera patted her cheek and Ella nodded with a smile and they both went from there. "Perfect Shaurya said to himself. Mehak got busy in cleaning up the dishes while Shaurya was gawking at her. She had her back to him and he wanted to hug her from behind there really bad. He got his mobile out and started to record her "Silly now you will be recording her washing dishes, what are you going to do with this? His inner self spoke. "I need to see every moment of my Mehak in detail and this is the beginning he replied, "I am sure she will be flattered to know she was recorded washing dishes, most women are flattered...NOT!!, "Go away, leave me alone he replied. Mehak was now done with the dishes, looked around to see if everything was in place, Shaurya hid himself. Mehak took off from there and went to her room. Shaurya noticed she left her mobile on the counter. He saw this as a perfect opportunity to get her number but he also needed some luck, he prayed for it to be unlocked and it was. He smiled and got her number. Mehak realised in her room that she had forgotten her cell phone in the kitchen, she came back to get it. Shaurya deleted his dialled number from the log and heard Mehak coming back to the kitchen. He put her cell phone back on the counter in a hurry and it fell down from there. He cursed himself and hid himself. Mehak came back to the kitchen to look for her cell phone, she remembered she had put it on the counter but it was not there now, she was confused and started looking for it and found it lying on the ground. She was confused but all the thoughts of last night and today's morning came running through her mind and she was feeling scared. She swallowed hard and look here and there and talked to herself that there really are ghosts in this house but Ella didn't believe her. Shaurya tried to control his laughter hearing that and went from there, he purposely switched on the TV in the living room and increased the sound volume and hid behind the curtains. Mehak heard the sound, she didn't want to go there but suddenly a sound came saying "HELP!!. It was from the TV but she didn't know and got more scared. She called out "Who is there? and again the sound came "HELP!!. She slowly followed where the sound came from, she was shaking, it was dark in the living room and when she came there she came to know that the sound came from the TV. it was some horror movie playing on the TV. She switched off the TV, took a deep breath and crashed on the sofa there. Shaurya chuckled to himself and also felt bad knowing he has scared the life out of her. He didn't want to come in front of her yet so he decided to scare her away again so that he can escape without being caught by her. Mehak was sitting on the sofa when suddenly she saw the curtains moving, she froze there. Shaurya put his hand on his mouth lightly to sound different and said "HELLO!!. Mehak upon hearing that dashed from there. Shaurya came out laughing to himself and also felt bad for Mehak. Mehak quickly went to her room, got in her bed, put duvet on her breathing heavily. Slowly her breathing became normal but she was really scared. Mehak's room window was to the outside and she had moved her curtains to the side giving view of her room at that time. Shaurya went/ to check on her, he walked slowly so that he isn't head and made his way to Mehak's room window. Mehak's bed was beside the window, he saw Mehak covering herself completely in the duvet. He chuckled and said sorry in a whisper to her. She didn't know what to do and was playing back that sound in her head. Shaurya went from there to the garden area and took out his mobile. He dialled her number chuckling to himself. Mehak was startled by the ring, she looked at the number which was unknown, she didn't pick up calls from wrong numbers so she cut the call. Shaurya was surprised but he decided to call again, she cut the call again. "Dammit Mehak!! Pick up. Mehak didn't pick up on his third try as well, he was adamant and told himself that he will call all night if she didn't pick his call. He kept trying and on the tenth try she picked it up "Who are you? What do you want? Stop calling me and she cut the call again for the tenth time. Shaurya looked at his phone "What a strange girl she is. He called her again and she picked up again "What? she sounded really pissed off. "Hello! Is this how you answer your calls Shaurya spoke in a different tone so that she doesn't pick on it that its him instantly, "Yes I do what does it matter to you? Mehak told him, "It does matter to me Miss Mehak Sharma. She was in shock hearing her name "How do you know my name? Who are you? Mehak asked in a worried tone. "Oh Mehak! You are in so much hurry to know who I am? I am irresistible aint i? she heard him and was hell confused "I won't make you wait more baby; I am your monster this time he spoke in his normal voice
