Chapter 2: Shaken, Not Broken
Akdu. Rakshas. Insensitive. Manipulative.
Those were the best gaaliya that Mehak's conservative mind could allow her to use.
Of course, she had heard and read more fitting swearwords for the man, but she would not let herself fall down to that level.
After all, using those words would erase one of the differences between herself and the arrogant billionaire who thought he could treat people like trash and get away with it.
There was no way she would become anything like him, at least not the negative aspects.
There were a lot of things to be respected in the man, like his determination and creativity. His jiid, which she grudgingly admired, now that he had directed it toward destroying her.
She pinned all the blame for her current predicament on him, for he rightly deserved it.
Here she was, drinking hot water, looking out of a window to see a foreign view, hoping that the sleepless night would not take a toll on her cooking. She wished she had her family with her, to cheer her on, to reassure her.
But they were back in Chandni Chowk, and there were kilometers between them that could not be erased thanks to Khadoos Khanna's no communication rule. No email, no watsapp, no calls.
What did he thought? That she'd be like a handicapped person without a crutch? That she'd stumble and stutter and fail?
Well, that was his fault.
There was one more way to communicate with the world outside the little bubble that Shaurya had thought he would cage her in.
The media. The flashing lights and the all too eager mikes were very willing to carry her message for her family. To reassure them that she was safe and that they had raised to be strong enough to not back down from a challenge.
Mehak smiled.
Now that her family knew that she was alright, it was time to focus on the competition.
Thud.
Thud.
Mehak almost dropped the cup she was holding at the loud pounding .
The door.
She put the cup back on the table and went to the door which she had barricaded for her own safety.
"Kaun Hai?" she was thankful that her voice did not tremble.
"Open the door."
Shaurya Khanna, the root cause of her troubles, was knocking on the door, expecting to be let in like he was a guest or something.
"No." she made sure she sounded as firm as possible.
"You won't open the door then?" there was slight irritation in his voice.
She could picture hisface, his features scrunching up like he had eaten a lemon.
She smiled "No normally means no."
Thud.
Mehak covered her mouth so he would not hear her laughing.
Poking an angry animal was always a bad idea. Animal Planet had taught her that.
Thud.
Mehak froze in her place.
Click.
Mehak Sharma looked to her left and saw the second door in her room that had refused to open at all yesterday.
The door was thrown open, and standing there, a trademark smirk on his face was Shaurya Khanna.
