Sorry, I don't remember the original page number and it was just a synopsis. 😳
She had shared that there was no Mustafa episode in the original novel and also Kerim, Vural, Erdogan and Kerim have raped her. She is married to Kerim and then tries to win his love and acceptance, the novel is real dark, twisted and regressive. 😊

On other note, The synopsis of the real Fatmagul novel shared by some member on the previous thread was heck dark and regressive.

I'm so glad that the makers decided to change it and improvise it cuz dunno about others, But I would've hated Kerim so as to the point of breaking his face and couldn't stand Fatma too cuz why the hell did she had to win the love and trust of the man who litreally made her life hell.

Love this independent, fiery Fatma more. Cuz the novel's characterization would have been a disappointment and so would be Kerim.
Glad that all of my favorite shows, like ZGH and FG had regressive storyline yet were improvised by the makers for the best. ⭐️ Even Humsafar, though I'm not fond of that show personally. Only love Fawad's performance as Asher Hussain. ❤️

Was Kerim a rapist in the original novel?

I would just hate it as it would be similar to Raja Ki Aayegi Baarat then

^ I wish we could know more about off screen stuff, that way we'd surely get to know how that horrific yet crucial scene was shot.
I read somewhere on net about Beren getting psychological help to shoot for that scene, but like mentioned in above comment, I'm also interested to know how the guys felt while shooting that scene... Especially Kaan, Bugra and Engin (Akyurek).

If anyone does find some off screen stuff then please do share them here. 😳

Tribe & fuedal.systems of hinterland have their own constitution. Just like Khap system.
I have read the rapist often marries the victim to lessen the punishment.
The scriptwriter duo are very crafty in adopting novel for television. Ece & Melek. They have other hits to their credits as well.
Overall they have put a pot boiler with ensemble cast & execllent technicians & ace director.

Good catch on the months being messed up.
The rape occured in September, December HNY dance party, now if they preparing for flower beds...it should be summer? So Kerim's HBD upcoming seems ok ...*another disaster waiting?bday party*

@bold: That is one BIG positive. I hate Mustafa more than Erdogan, Selim & Vural put together🤢

I am so glad they made the necessary changes though & didnt show Kerim as a rapist. But I have heard the novel is set in older times when rape victims were actually forced to marry their rapist...so quite happy they made the necessary changes to make it fit in the 20th century scenario otherwise I would have definitely skipped this one

In real world, even today some victims are forced to marry the rapists and some villages make the victim apologize to the rapist. However, if people write novels or make shows or movies, they should try to avoid these harsh realities as people watch it for entertainment rather than watching real life in a show. I'm so happy that FG's makers showed Kerim as innocent and will show the rapists getting punished.

@The.Lannister - this show just takes its basic idea from that novel which was written by the famous Turkish novelist Vedat Trkali. The novel was based on the true story of a rape victim in Turkey. The show cannot even be called a loose adaptation of the novel...it's is so different from it. A movie however was made on this novel in 1986 and that cld be called its true screen adaptation.

Anyways, in the novel & movie, the girl gets raped by 4 men. 3 of these men are spoilt rich kids and the other is a local boy. The law at that time in Turkey forgave the act of rape if one of the rapists got married with the victim. So, the rich kids get rid of their crime by persuading the local boy to marry the girl. After the two marry, the trio walks free and leave the town. The local boy gets frustrated because he is the one who's left with a wife he does not want. He even beats her once because of which she miscarries their baby. But since the girl has nowhere to go, no one to trust, she accepts and loves her husband. The guy too eventually falls in love with her.

However for the tv series, famous scriptwriters Ece Yren and Melek Genolu just used some part of the basic premise/idea of the novel and created a completely diff and new story around it. For example, in the show Kerim is never shown to harm Fatmagul psychically. He is in fact shown as a righteous man and a passionate lover. Fatmagul too is shown as a strong feisty character who refuses to accept him as her husband until she falls in love with him. Also, the show introduces many new characters who didn't exist in the true story or in the novel. These include Mustafa, as Fatmagul's fiance, who dumps her immediately after the rape, Fatmagul's sister in law MQ, who is a sly, unreliable woman, Meriyam Abla, the woman who raised Kerim and is the biggest supporter for Fatmagul etc. Also, in reality or in novel, there's no war between the 3 rich boys and Kerim & FG which the series shows, Most importantly, the series shows Fatmagul getting justice with the culprits being put behind bars while in reality they had all walked free.

So, as you can see, the tv series does not have much in common with the novel except for the fact that the girl is gang raped and the rapists are rich boys who force her to marry a local friend of theirs. Rest everything is changed including the fact that the guy she marries is not a rapist. Therefore, we can't even consider it to be "based" on that novel actually. They just used a part of its basic premise and built their own epic story around it.

Good that they did so coz if they had they gone with the original story, the show wld have never worked, even in Turkey. In fact the show created a huge controversy till the time it wasnt made clear that Kerim had not raped Fatmagul, as public/media/social orgs etc had gone up in arms thinking that the series was going to show the victim getting married to her rapist and falling in love with him, thereby glorifying this kind of a union, esp since popular stars were playing these characters.

Yes...the creatives got a bumper with this series.
But character of Kerim is too ideal to believe in the real big bad world.(even 5 years after its first telecast)
I guess Dummy did mention in DT 2...to some one that its a man's world..

I never wrote this but obviously I'm also glad that the makers of the show included necessary changes from the novel, or I'd hate this show more than anything, no matter if a victim marrying her rapist happens in some parts of the world.

And Mustafa is seriously more annoying than those three... 😳 I wonder would there be any time in upcoming episodes when I'd feel bad for him? 🤔
