Discussions on Khirad😳? I access the woman a little differently..I do think she was immensely strong and really big on self respect..Humsafar for me began and end at the same point..
it started when Khirad overheard asher's convo with Raza about how he is unhappy with the marriage..even though she wanted to discuss it out with him..and she was hurt with those remarks..backward cousin, saza e shaadi, wouldnt be able to match his nature with her..this without either of them knowing each other..Khirad was hurt with Asher's assessment of her personality..she became a robot to their marriage, which as asher said was a punishment for both of them..her self esteem had taken a hit there

Also nobody bothered to get her approval for the marriage..her mother thrusted the decision on her..and it can be exceptionally hard to go against the decision of a dying person..that too being a mother

I dont blame Asher here either, but baseerat for guilt trapping his own son and his bhanji into the marriage..it worked out in the end for both of them..but that necessarily doesnt have to be the case..

Just that the timing was wrong..Asher being a mature person..it would have been nice if he had talked things out with Khirad pre marriage..anyway..

hence when Khirad burst out at Baseerat..and Asher realized that khirad had a voice and was hurt with this zabardasti ki shaadi..as much as him.. she wasnt any gold digger or a dim witted person forced upon him..he started making amends and worked towards their marriage..

+++++++++++++++
and at epi 23, it ends at that point too...a not fully healed Khirad, high possibility that she may never be the same naive person as she was again..but she was stronger and more mature than before..Asher was rebuilding their marriage from where it was left off and Hareem being the bridge between her parents..

++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Humsafar for me is a journey of three lovers - Asher, Khirad and Sara..Sara's love was destructive, Asher's love was heart wrenching and possessive and Khirad's love was devotional..

I just felt Asher was a person with integrity and didn't want his father to let down whether he liked or not . It was Baseerat's promise to his dying sister . He tells his father earlier about his hesitations and all . But here i felt that Baseerat came to know Khirad closely wghen she came with her mother and Baseerat spent his time with her and must be knowing about her education also . Yes but he dis something wrong ,to overcome his guilt ,he mistreated his wife and within a moment threatened to end the marriage . And more over he did not got the time to talk to her before marriage .

Hence when Khirad burst out at Baseerat..and Asher realized that khirad had a voice and was hurt with this zabardasti ki shaadi..as much as him.. she wasnt any gold digger or a dim witted person forced upon him..he started making amends and worked towards their marriage..

I thought of not joining the discussion but you just echoed my thoughts about Khirad . It was clear from the first episode when Batool Khala comes to their place with some dish and Khirad character etched from that time . She was a person with dignity and self respect. For being naive and innocent does not connect with age . Its the atmosphere and your parents ,you are brought up with .
Asher didn't know that she had heard his talk with Raza but it was a weight on her conscious that Asher was tied in this unwanted marriage .

Its the time which is great teacher and with time also heals the wound the person who has given ,with his love and care . Khirad also told her mother that she didn't even ruined his own' son's life .
She knew Asher was also the victim. Liked the way she goes into his office with head held high and takes him to task and then leaves .

Neerjaa - yehaa that makes sense too..maybe Baseerat had judged Khirad properly before the proposal..that said, yeah I think he messed it up totally when it came to dealing with Fareeda..and thereby being the reason of Fareeda going totally psycho in the process😆
I just wish we would know why Baseerat did not ever consider Sara and Asher? I mean they grew up together, frequently visited each other's home and Fareeda too always wanted Sara as her bahu..so wonder why nobody brought her name up in front of him, when he told them about his selection of Khirad as asher's wife..? In the realm of things, it could be that we are to assume that Asher and Baseerat may have had a indirect convo about this before and Baseerat would have figured out that Asher was never interested in Sara "that way"?😕

on Khirad - yes very much..when I say naive - I mean that she had been around good people always..from her talks her father was a wonderful man, who loved his daughter and her parents brought her up lovingly..then post her parents, she got a wonderful life partner..who was mature, caring, sensitive, one who expressed gratitude, open minded..thats what baseerat meant when he said Khirad is masoom..she is likely to believe into niceties and has not really been exposed to the manipulative nature of the societal people..

she isnt a very good judge of people..so as Asher, they both were kind people..who believed in goodness and the world being a bright shade of white..thats why they are soulmates after all..and that is exactly what was exploited..Asher never realized the obsession of Sara for him..Khirad never realized Khizar's creepiness and both of them did not realize Fareeda's sick plans..

Ahh this is wonderful .. I hope we can have a discussion thread then .. This is my fav pak drama and do I need to mention how my life has gone from bad , worse and worst into fan girling over Asher and crying and bawling over KhiSher ..

This is show much above the content, story, the regressiveness .. The way the execution and performances induce a hell lot if emotions, always charging me up to cry and crave for the characters .. I know I'm a sadist and therefore I cannot stop but keep loving the tragedy surrounding Sara, Asher and Khirad ..

The relations shown here are also unforgettable .. Be it Asher- Sara , Asher with his dad ( ahhh I love ) and even Khirad with her mamu .. The conflicted emotions, the sacrifice of a son, the struggle of a single mother, the betrayal , the desperation of a failed lover, the sad fistic nature of motherhood .. Uggghhh I love humsafar ...

20-23 these episodes are gold, gold and gold .. Never ever my heart broke so much while watching a drama ..

More than fareeda I feel baseerat is responsible for taking and treating their son as a commodity and risking the future of both their own son and am innocent and struggling daughter like figure khirad ..
Like what kind of guilt and selfishness is this that leads you to shove a dis balancing and unwanted marriage down your son? What kind of selfishness is this that you insult your wife and mother of your only son just because she raises her voice to save her son ? Baseerat is just the worst ... He was only justified because Asher and khirad eventually find love in each other but how would be the situation had it been otherwise ?

He not only butchered a son's hope but a daughter's self respect that too in front of her dying mother ... Uggghhh no wonder he gets an equally neurotic wife in form of fareeda .. And I wonder how did an innocent and white soul like Asher be their son ?

Nonetheless, Abby I loved Fawad-Naveen Scenes in Humsafar. ⭐️ Spcly the last two scenes where after a gap of 4 years, Sara-Asher are in Asher's Cabin for Coffee! ❤️ Then also the scene where Asher says, "Main kissi se mohabbat karne ke qaabil nhi raha!" I know many wont agree but Fawad-Naveen had sum chemistry mahn! Also being a newcomer, She took up a grey character knowing that it was her Debut Show requires sum guts. And I think Naveen potrayed it to T! 👏 I loved her as the Psycho yet Bold and Bful Sara! ⭐️ Plus you mentioned it spot on that, She didnt seem to fail infront of Fawadoo's Calibre. Taking up a good character is sumwhat easy but a grey shaded role always cums as a Challenge!

Naveen-Fawad .. these two infact had a lots of chemistry.. this show would not be as successful had any of the characters failed at their delivery..

Sara-Asher is the second most important and integral part of the show after Asher-Khirad.
And there is a point in the show, where you can only pity Sara for never getting out of her Asher mania, and pity Asher for doing whatever he did for sara..

I still believe that only because Asher was him, a man with values, innocence and love, he never complained about Sara being always judgemental about his side of desires and self respect and there is where he scores.

i love the last sequence between them, when he asks for sorry and she refuses, and my fav bits-

Sara- " woh itna sab kuch karke bhi tumhare ghar mei hai , tumhare bache ki maa hai, aur main jo tumse itni mohabbat karti hoo Asher "..

the blank and despair expression on Asher's face here, ahh beautiful...

You rightly said , story was nothing new but the way it was executed that was something different . Director's vision how he brings out the best from his actors .
He kept the balance in the characters . Asher Sara's friendshipp where i felt Sara was less at fault as she was kept on fed on Farida's lies and she went on encouraging her . Asher when knew that Sara was in love with him and even tried to suicide because of him, should have kept the distance . she went on harboring dreams that one day Asher will be his despite her mother warning her time to time and even she told Asher the same . Asher was the kind of person who would not hurt anyone . Trapped in his own good intentions .

Humsafar ,i must have watched hundreds time in bits and pieces but still neve get bore ,find something for my VMs.
I think most are sadist as i also liked after gating separated ,that time it was more emotionally charged tracks with hatred , suppressed anger ,somewhere love . Mixture of every emotions.

yeah i am a sadist .. and no wonder i love this show like no tomorrow.. never ever i can stop talking about it .. silly me..

Sara , i agree neerja that yes fareeda kept giving her hope, but she herself saw that Asher ha snot even an ounce of feeling for her.. at leats not the way she wanted him to love her, yes he loves her a lot, as a friend and as somebody you spend your entire childhood with, you cannot abandon the person after knowing that she harbors feelings for you, that would be selfishness and rude from his part as he was never a kind of person to leave people in tragedy and despair.. he wanted to gather her emotions and actually show her that she will always be an integral part of his life, but the problem arises when he is back stabbed and his sick mother and sick sara is actually taking his humility for granted..

after studying in yales, being a 25 old, if sara needs to listen to fareeda all the time and not see through Asher and ruin his life, then she is to be blamed.. you cannot nurture your happiness by killing somebody else's happiness, you cannot win your man, by snatching someone else's man, you cannot expect him to forget his wife, when you yourself has not forgotten him..
Fareeda still has rights over Asher as she was his mother, and she still could ask Asher to move on, but sara ? i do empathy her life and her unability to forget him as its not her fault to love him but yeah why do we forget karma is a bitch and it does bite every body ...

Fareeda still got a forgiveness from Asher, but i believe had sara been alive, Asher would be very heart broken and never forgiven her, she was somebody whom he has always respect and given a higher position in his life , not because he needed her, because she needed him
