I have watched Dastaan and loved the show . One has to watch the show being unbiased . Now people have zero tolerance . Just reminded me the movie Pinjar based on Amrita Pritam,s book . Dastaan is supposed to be made on Bano named book . This one is from that side of point of view . But one should be sensitive and keep in mind while watching that Bano is a faceless woman . Both the sides went through hell that time . It was mob frenzy which has no name , no community and no class , no religion. While feeling the Bano,s hell ,i could feel that thousands of womaen must have gone through the same fate . If there are bad people then there were good people also who helped the desperate.
So many movies were made on partition , one was with Nutan and Raj Kapoor and story was like the same where she is left in pakistan when she got married , parents refuse to accept her when she comes with a child , even husband refuse .Then Raj Kapoor finds her as she was going to suicide . very sensitive movie . A muslim ( Pran played the role has saved her from mob and keeps her as sister .
Dastaan is a show where one has to be sensitive to the issue . Worth watching show and Fawad , Sanam did amazing job . When Bano meets Hasan in Pakistan and asks him where was he when she was being abused . That scene stands out .
When Rabia meets Bano and Hasan is standing on the other side .

Watch the show yes you can keep tissues with you while watching .

I watched Numm after ZGH . I loved the story as it was about feudal system . There was lack of connectivity in the story . Fawad did great job as Walli where he it were his intense eyes did the talking . Some unspoken chemistry was there between him and Mahzabeen ( do not know actor name ) He was very quite and kind of everyone was entrapped in the system . So many loopholes were there . For me it was Walli,s Mahzabeen,s unspoken eyes stood out for me . Felt bad for Neelum who was also a victim of the system . Walli looking at Mahzabeen behind the newspaper , so many small moments . You know after watching Numm , i had mentioned of discussing the show . tHIS SHOW LEFT ME EMOTIONALLY DRAINED . lIKED THE DIALOGUE WHEN WALLI TELLS HIS GRANDFATHER THAT' YE EK SHAUHAR KA MOHABBAT KA TOHFA HAI USKI BIVI KO . He was a puppet but later on took stand and it was too late then . This story did not have water tight script .
And while watching the start , just felt why we people have distances , same is here in India ,specially in the zamindars and rigid ones where do not want to change . more i am watching Pak shows ,more finding the similarities , then forced to think that our great great fathers were from the same place ,so how can traditions , cultures and values be different
Lo and you have started .

Lyrics translation by shiningways2407

Mumkin hai chashm-e-numm teri, tera guror ho,
Mumkin hai ke yeh aag, paani se dur ho,
it is possible that your moist eyes, is your arrogance,
It is possible that this fire can be relinquished by water,

Mumkin hai sarayat kare zehar ragoon mein,
Mumkin hai is zehar ka asar dur dur ho,
It is possible that the poison penetrates into the veins,
It is possible that this poison has repercussion further further

Mumkin hai mumkin na ho yun mera palat na,
Mumkin hai esterab mein bhi kuch suroor ho,

It is possible that it may not be possible for me to turn back,
It is possible that in uneasiness there is a faint ecstasy,

Mumkin hai aa bhi jao tum mere khayal mein,
Mumkin hai dur dur raho, dur dur ho,
Mumkin hai nazar bhar ke tumhe dekh lein,
Mumkin hai ek nazar mein kabhi ishq dur ho,

It is possible that you come to my mind,
It is possible that you stay far far away, you are far away,
It is possible that i keep looking at you,
It is possible that with one look, love passes by,

Mumkin hai mera veham ho, mera khayal ho,
Mumkin hai mere haal mein bhi tera kasoor ho,
Mumkin hai tujhe chah ke bhi, chah na sakon,

It is possible that it is my intuition or my thoughts,
It is possible that my state is caused by you,
It is possible that in spite of loving you, i cannot love you,

Mumkin hai tere paas bhi aa na sakoon,
Mumkin hao yeh fareeb ho, teri adavat,

It is possible that i cannot come close to you,
It is possible that your hatred is a lie,

Mumkin hai tujhe kehke bhi mil na sakon,
Mumkin hai mujhe pe reham ho ya mujhse saval ho,
Mumkin tai mre saval par woh lajavab ho,

It is possible that even after commitment i cannot be yours,
It is possible that i attain mercy or i am questioned,
It is possible that on my questioning, he shows brilliance,

Thank you for translation its beautiful OST with lovely lyrics .

Thanks for translating Numm lyrics. Love ur ZGH analysis. The relationship between Mahjabeen and Wali was so intense.

Mumkin hai tujhe kehke bhi mil na sakon,
Mumkin hai mujhe pe reham ho ya mujhse saval ho,
Mumkin tai mre saval par woh lajavab ho,

These lines best express their relationship. The newspaper scene, the hair clip scene were so beautiful and heartouching. Wali was trapped in so much painful situation. When he said to Bade sahab That It was a husband's way of showing love to his wife was so intense. At first he said that It is not possible to change the system in a single day. But throughout his life he tried to change old traditions.

When he said that WHat Ghar Majhbeen was talking about which is unable to give a proper name of their relationship reflected his intense love and frustration and his sympathy for Majhbeen. He fulfilled almost all wishes of Neelam but he always tired to protect Majhbeen even from Neelam.

Im glad Numm is finally being appreciated. It wasnt long ago, when I was the only one singing its praise. Haha. Its depiction was very different. Haunting and soothing at the very same time. Just beautiful.

The only thing I didnt like in the show was the actress playing Neelam. Terrible is the word. Fawad was at his best when he had scenes with Sania and Usman saahab.

Wali and Mahjabeen had such an intense chemistry. The mystery element in their relationship was the USP of the show. Just brilliantly depicted.

The end was way too harsh for my palate. It somehow didnt seem just for a good man to die. No,i refuse to believe that it was for a greater good.

Nevertheless,Numm is my little baby. Ive defended this show like no other. Haha. It will always have a special place in my heart.

Numm's story was very realistic but they should made it shorter. People wont seat in front of TV to make themselves sad for long time. More than story it was their feelings which portrayed most of the time. The story of Numm was good for films not for serial. But I like FK's acting and the unspoken love between Wali and Mahjabeen.

I might be wrong as Walli became adult ,did his feelings for Mahzabeen changed with time where as Neelum was immature and its no fault of hers . she was young school going girl with rebellious nature and modern outlook . i felt sympathy for Neelum also . Was she jealous of Mahzabeen ? Sometimes you feel as if Walli,s feelings were getting towards Mahzabeen as woman . Makers should have kept the story short without any loopholes . But it was amazing on emotional front . Fawad as Walli stood out .

I believe that insist of running away , If Wali had got Mahjabeen & Kasim home and confronted his grandfather...Wali would had been alive...Becoz Saab would had never harmed his own blood.

@Neerjaa Dastaan was suggested to me by a frnd of mine who had already watched it Onlyn.. I cudnt watch after the whole partition thing.. One really requiers a tissue box for that! 😭 I loved the series mainly cuz of the Hassan-Bano scenes.. Fawad Khan And Sanam Baloch really share sum gud chemistry.. And I agree wid you on the partition part.. One has to watch it being cumpletly unbiased.. There were so many who suffered so much!! Unworthy of who was Hindu and Muslim.. But I wud really appreciate if the Indian audience watches it being cumpletly unbiased.. Its a beautiful story!! Well, I have rqstd Zindagi to telecast Dastaan on TW to which they have assures me that they will try bringing our favorite shows very soon.. I will also ask them to telecast Numm here.. It wud be refreshing for the Indian Audience to see their beloved Fawad Khan as Wali Bakht! The exteme opposite to the Romantic Zaroon And Asher..😊
