On topic, err, from my personal experience, a distant hi-hello relationship with an ex is fine, but associating with an ex never produces good results. I may sound regressive and stuff, but I speak from my own experience. I would have said something else if I did not have the experience of my relationship, but now I know differently. Yes, there are cases where the exes can be friends, but I don't know how people can do that.

But at the same time, you are free to talk to anyone you want to. Nobody has the right to take away your right to be able to talk to someone. That's basic violation of human rights.

Being in touch on special occasions (read: Birthdays, promotions & the best of the lot for the girlfriend/boyfriend, marriage/engagements) is all very nice & sweet.

But, I've never ever believed that Exes can be friends. People who say, consciously or sub-consciously, are using the Ex as an emotional buffer.

A serious relationship comes along, and the people who snigger on being "too traditional & committed" themselves begin distancing themselves from the Ex.

It's a situation that has never produced good results, DishTV!

But if the parting was mutual then yea maybe... #exceptions.
