Sandhya my pet,

I am very pleased to get these comments at last, for I missed you. You are spot on about Bairam Khan, and the Vesuvius comparison is especially apt, as also the Karna-Duryodhana one. I do not know how you feel, but I think the actor too is becoming excessively stagy. He was awful in his exchange with Maham Anga tonight. And I hear that he is playing Bhishma in Suryaputra Karn! What a frightful prospect!😲

Now I am waiting to see what you make of my next one, which was somehow tough to write as the material was so intangible and gossamer-like, and whether you have any response to my special request for suggestions as to how I should go on. Not as I am doing now, that is for sure!

Thank you for shoring up my sagging morale, my pet!😉

It is clear to me that I cannot keep up with the daily posts. God knows how I did it for 10 months; but then I was physically fit then, Even so, I was always running to catch up with my posts and my responses.

Maybe bi-weekly posts, as there are 6 episodes a week now, three at a time. If I do for a whole week, it might be too long. As it is, Episode 9 was a dead loss, so it will be for three - 8,9 & 10 - in any case.

The real problem, my dear, is that there are too few readers and too little discussion. Not enough interest and understandably so. I never wanted to get involved with anything like this, and would not have done so but for Mandy.

And now I am not happy at all with the way in which it is panning out. Or have I been thoroughly spoilt by the way in which we used to have so much fun earlier? You know, my pet, one should never to back to any place where one had a really good time. It is never the same the second time around.

Oh well, I enjoyed writing these 7 new episode analyses, especially the last two!

Look at Ashoka now, even he is talking of uchit samay! Utkarsh is going to have his work cut out for him!😉

Your posts are certainly NOT like a speech to an empty hall. They are like a mellifluous song recorded, like poetry e-printed. Not just for immediate savour, but more so meant to be relished later on.

But of course, do not strain yourself if your health doesn't permit. I just had a bout of horrible cold and i know what it feels like. That's why i'm late by 2 episodes/posts.

Now that you are going to combine 8 and 9 and you have done episode analysis from 10 already, perhaps from next week onwards it could be weekly posts and there could be discussions till you make your next weekend post. That would lesen your strain too and it wouldn't be like a must-do homework.

Just a suggestion. What is more important is what you feel about it.

I do feel like clobbering him these days the way i felt about Jalal when he was becoming a poodle. Ashoka is beginning to resemble Dharma more and more. Too much of mahaanta and too much of do-goodiness. What was lovable about Jalal in the initial episodes of course was his pride his anger his rakishness. Jodha too was likeable because if her prejudice, blind anger and sharpness wrt Jalal. It made them more human more interesting than the caricatures they became later.

Ashoka with his braath-prem, love for all matas and uchcha vichar and uchith nirnay even in simple matters, is becoming a scary prospect.

And why is Chanakya playing Dumbledore book 5. Trying to keep off from Ashoka? ( as though the poor imitation of the maze wasn't enough) if it is to keep off from Mir's men, how does Ashoka drop in to see his mom every now and then without being noticed?

Just wanted the Dharma track to wind up sooner.

Well, I have tweeted Utkarsh that he has to turn Ashoka around fast as the Dharma merry-go-round seems to have been going on forever, and he has favourited it. Let us see. As of now, I watch Ashoka for Sushim's smooth, double-faced villainy. One hopes Ashoka does not fall for it!

I am most likely the minority or a lonely voice. But still voicing or just thinking aloud,
If you have done already individual posts in JA's first run, Akka, which most likely ran into 150 pages in each thread with people actively participating with such divergent views/counterpoints and likely discussion, what is the point in doing it all over again ?
There is no question or even iota of doubt that you will bring in some more perspectives into the second writing but I think it is an not apt thing to do to your incredible writing as a craft.
I am somehow unable to understand the need to do multiple analysis of the same episode.
I have read most of your old posts here, as well as dhawani - They are ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLY WONDERFUL. Can you yourself improve on them ? I do not know. First time is special.
There is a time for everything - JA had its golden episodes and glorious commentary from you.
Just redoing it and trying to create that magic seems a tiring exercise to me.
I can delete the post if need be. LOVE you and your writing. 👏⭐️

Hi Shyamala, I'm reading all posts mostly on phone these days and hence limited responses. But there are times when a second analysis sometimes brings out layers that may have been missed. And JA does have many layers especially due to Rajat's portrayal making Jalal's character so very multi-layered.

As for Ashoka, Utkarsh needs to not only get the mahaanta keeda out of Ashoka and the Uchit Samay keeda out of the show, he needs to get the story to be layered with sub-text or we may quit that show soon as well. As of now there are only two types of ppl there - the good guys and the bad guys - there is no one who happens to be colorful like the rainbow - like our dear Jalal😉

Aunty I know that the discussions nd comments r very few here. Even im not commenting much as I used to do earlier. but aunty the enthusiasm which was before is no more there. Nd srry aunty for lamenting, its not bcoz of re runs bcoz if its rajat's show I enjoy the re-runs equally as the original series but the lack of enthusiasm is bcoz of the horrible memories of past 1yr. There were so many people like sunny lashy divya who r really wonderful people nd participated in regular discussions but now they are also not there. I think jaya is right. When you had already done the first analysis I think its better if its just copy pasted here. I love to read ur posts but certainly not at the cost of ur health.

@bold. Which, Adiana, as you would remember, was exactly what I wrote to you a bit earlier. It is only the curiosity about the nature of the Grand Revelation that holds me there, that and the urge to know who the adult Ashoka will be.

I agree, Munni. This is like trying to keep an old, broken down jalopy going on the road, and lamenting that it cannot perform as well as the brand new car it was 10 years ago!

I am going to stop doing daily posts, as I simply cannot cope with what it takes, plus I have done fresh ones for the 7 initial episodes that needed them and which I had not done earlier. I think I shall follow your advice for the future.

Take care, my dear, and let us wait for Rajat's next show!
