Vikas Sethi
Transcript of LIVE CHAT with TV actor, Vikas Sethi at 12 noon on Tuesday, May 3 , 2005 in Mumbai

Vikas Sethi
TV actor

"Oops wasn't a b-grade film and I enjoyed working in it. As for competition between my character "Swayam" with that of "Sujal" - the latter has been around on TV for three years and I have barely started. Give me some time."

Rachit > We have seen you in TV serials like Kyon Hota Hai Pyar and now in Kahiin To Hoga . Do you have any exciting Bollywood offers coming your way?
Vikas Sethi > Yeah, there are a few Bollywood offers coming my way but I am still waiting for good roles rather than doing b-grade films.

Gaurav > Hi Vikas what made you accept to do a film like Oops , which falls more in the b-grade category? Do you regret acting in it?
Vikas Sethi > It wasn't a b-grade film. It was a nice concept and that's why I agreed to do the movie. I don't regret acting in it at all.

Yuvi > How did you manage to get Swayam's role? I understand you were offered the role after two other actors rejected it?
Vikas Sethi > Even I have heard through papers and media that other people were offered this role, but I don't know about it. I got a call from Balaji (production house). I met them and they explained me the character. I liked it instantly and agreed to do the role.

Sneha > Does your character in real life resembles that of 'Swayam' ? In which role will you like to appear yourself in real life?
Vikas Sethi > No, I am a very reserved person. I would like to do a role like Shah Rukh Khan's in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge .

Mannie > How is your relationship with co-star Rajeev Khandelwal (Sujal)? Is it true that he is feeling insecure because your character has become very strong and popular now?
Vikas Sethi > My relationship with Rajeev is as good as it is with my other co-actors. While shooting together, we never discuss what's going on in the media. I really don't know if he is insecure, as I have never tried to find out.

Clod > Who is your fav co-star on the sets of Kahiin To Hoga ? Who do you get along with the most?
Vikas Sethi > I get along the most with Shabbir Ahluwalia (Rishi). On the sets I like everyone. It's like one big family.

Rani > Do you think you can really overshadow established television characters like 'Sujal' and ' Kashish'?
Vikas Sethi > Sujal has been around for three years in this serial and I have just come in the last five months. So give me at least some more time and then we will talk about it.

Jacko > What in your opinion has made you so popular with the audience?
Vikas Sethi > I guess, the powerful role .(my character).

Figo > Are you doing any other serials? When is your birthday?
Vikas Sethi > I have been offered the serial K-Street Pali Hill . And I will be on it in another ten days – that is on the 12th of May. Two dailies (soaps) are enough; it takes all your time.

Manju > What are your hobbies? Any girl friend? Who would be your dream date (besides your girl friend)?
Vikas Sethi > My hobbies are watching films. I have a huge collection of Hollywood films and I keep on watching them. Every Sunday I play cricket with my friends. I don't have any girl friend – can't afford to have a girl friend, as I am married to Amita. She is an airhostess. Dream date would be Julia Roberts.

Lali > Are you going to try your luck in films again or are you satisfied with being a TV actor? Why?
Vikas Sethi > Definitely, I would love to try in films again because that's an ultimate high for an actor in India.

Jaggu > This time round (if you try in films again) do you think Bollywood will treat you better? Why?
Vikas Sethi > Yes, I think Bollywood will treat me better as I am more recognised now.

Sign Off Message > Thank you for logging on and keep watching me. Love, Vikas.

Amita And Vikas Sethi: Two To Tango

Dancing their way into everyone's hearts on Nach Baliye, Amita and Vikas Sethi have seven years of a successful married life behind them.

The couple has been making waves - first, for Amita's broken toe (Vikas stepped on it while dancing!) and then when they fired their choreographer, Khalsa Raj, for being 'unprofessional'. Amita is a non-dancer and an airhostess by profession and Vikas is popular as Swayam in Kahiin To Hoga.

Shaaditimes caught up with the 'earthy' couple while they were on their grocery rounds.
How did the two of you meet?
Amita:
One night I went out clubbing with a gang of girls. We saw a cute guy in a white linen shirt and decided to chat up with him. We had a good time. Both of us were born in Chandigarh and we had a lot in common. But we dated for a short time. I think we met in January or February and by December we were married. It will be seven years in December.

So the itch is over?
Amita: There has been no itch. We are busy with our professional lives so we manage little time together. And we do some things together. Like shopping for everyday needs.

How has your Nach Baliye experience been so far?
Amita: Nach Baliye has been fun. It has been stressful at times and at other times it has been joyful. I have cried like a baby and laughed out loud. At Nach Baliye I have seen varied emotions and experienced them in the extreme.

I think I am improving now. I am not a great dancer but people are beginning to say that my performance is improving and I have better expressions now. If I get this kind of appreciation, I think I will be able to improve.

Vikas: Beautiful. It is something we have never done together. She used to think my profession is easy. That I just go and speak in front of the camera and come back home with a lot of money. But now she understands.

She doesn't ask why I am tired or when I am getting home. It is not mentally tiring but when the lights are so hot it's physical torture for your organs. I am happy that we are able to spend such quality time after 7 years.

Which of the two of you is a better dancer?
Amita: Vikas is a better dancer. It's an unquestionable truth.
Vikas: We have never compared that because she's an amateur. I have to co-ordinate with someone who's never done it before. But I can't overpower my wife here because the show is about how you dance with your baliye. So on the show I won't go all out but try to look good as a couple. It's how you handle it that is important here.

Amita, how has it been working with your hubby?
Amita: I've been blessed. He's very protective. He doesn't let even half of the harsher realities of the acting world bother me. What hardships people go through in here (Nach Baliye)! But he is like a shield for me at Nach Baliye. It's great fun. We have a fabulous choreographer and the judges, fans and audiences have been great to us.

What qualities do you appreciate in him?
Amita: I admire him because Vikas is a calm person. On the contrary, I'm very excitable and have a lot of mood swings. But he maintains a steady ground.

What qualities do you appreciate in her?
Vikas: She is a strong person. When I lose my positive attitude in life she is always there to hold me. I'm an honest person and I don't gimmick. But she is strong and tells me to 'be the way you are'.

The qualities that you don't like about him?
Amita: There are exactly three things I don't like about him: He doesn't know how to switch off the geyser. He always throws his wet towel on my pillow, I don't know how. And the third is his fascination for TV and cricket.

The qualities that you don't like about her?
Vikas: She's a Principal in the house. She'll tell me 'why do you leave the geyser on' or 'why do you leave the tap running'... like a regular housewife. But boys will be boys at the end of the day.

What has been your most romantic evening out?
Amita: Our most romantic evening out was in Hong Kong on the main island. It was fun. He got me a bouquet of roses, there was an alfresco dinner surrounded by clouds and it was bone chilling cold.
Vikas: It was definitely in Hong Kong. It was freezing but we were roaming around and chatted for hours.

"The elimination procedure of NB 2 is TRP based"

First they were known for their kabhie on kabhie off relationship. However, after participating in Nach Baliye 2, Gaurav Chopra and Narayani Shastri have finally gone on record with their much publicized romance. But unfortunately the couple has recently been voted out of the reality dance show, in spite of being labelled as lambi race ka ghoda by none other Saroj Khan.

Prashant Golecha corners Gaurav who clears the air about his ouster from NB 2, dismisses rumours about his only show Aisa Des Hain Mera going off air and gives his take on the rival dance show, Jhaalak…!

And we must tell you, looking at the composure of this long haired cool dude, we are sure he'll go places.

"I was disillusioned with the fairness of the show"

You must be disheartened on being out of NB 2, as it was obvious that you deserved to stay in for long?
Of course, I was disillusioned. I wasn't expecting it and it felt like some calamity had struck. Even viewers were shocked. There have been random messages and calls from fans venting anger and sadness. There is sudden appreciation of our performance. When the results were announced, Keerti, Tina and both the Shweta's (Kawaatra and Tiwari) howled. So did our choreographers. Those ten minutes were the most difficult moments of my life.

What has been the channels' reaction?
They also seemed to be shocked and feel that we should be back in the wild card round.

Do you think the elimination procedure is fair?
It's purely TRP based.

What about the twist in the pattern where the fellow jodis get to vote out others?
This creates an awkward situation between the jodis, which provides enough masala to boost the TRPs. Also in terms of competition, it doesn't help to create a balance.

Do you think NB 2 is rigged?
It's is a reality show and is not a fair talent hunt. Reality shows come with its own set of shocks and surprises and its unpredictability works in it's favour. If in the first episode itself the audience comes to know who will win, why will they watch the rest of the episodes?

"NB 2 is a reality show and is not a fair talent hunt"

There is an allegation from your fellow contestants that you do anything to get publicity. Comment.
It's rubbish. We didn't get any t-shirts or posters printed. Even during the show, we have given statement like, 'Please vote for the deserving couple as your vote is valuable'. As we are an unconventional couple compared to others, we attract more media attention.

Going back, how did you feel when you were approached for NB 2?
Last time only married and engaged couples were included. So we had no scope. But this time around they had modified their system so we were expecting to be in. Nine months back Narayani received their call, later when I returned from South Africa I was contacted. Since we both love dancing we gave the green signal.

What's your take on the rival dance show, Jhalak Dhikhhla Ja?
It's promotional campaign is quite classy. I have seen only glimpses of an episode but it won't be fair to comment on it.

Do you feel that it would have been better to be a part of Jhaalak…?
For Jhaalak I would have grooving with a choreographer and it would or would have not been a good experience. But in NB 2 I got to enjoy dancing with Narayani. Performing with someone you know personally increases the comfort level and it also reflects equally.

Your only show, Aisa Desh Hai Mera is rumoured to be going off air. What's happening on that front?
It is not going off air. The TRP has improved quite a bit. The channel has got a good response and people are appreciating the new track

"I won't deny Narayani and me are a couple"

How is it working with Soumya Tandon?
Inspite of being a newcomer, she is very confident, a fast learner and self-assured as a person. Our chemistry is getting better.

You have also featured in a Hollywood film, Blue Diamond with Leanardo De Capri. When is it releasing?
The promos being aired on MTV. It will hit the big screen out by the end of this year or early 2007.

You are the only TV actor maintaining long hair. Intentional?
It adds to my sex appeal (laughs). The response I've received for my hair is terrific. Both Narayani and I have long hair so I was thinking since Garnier Fructis is the sponsor of NB 2, we should receive a special award (laughs).

Any plans of getting hitched in the near future?
I won't deny Narayani and me are a couple. But I have no plans of getting married yet as I'm not prepared. Career is my top most priority. On a lighter note, I want to give the whole world a chance (laughs)!

Female Fans drive Karan Singh Grover crazy!

May 30th, 2008

< ="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js" =text/>

Journos have real tough time contacting Karan Singh Grover for this doctor from Dil Mill Gaye never picks up call or replies to SMS. A friend close to him says that Karan's female fans drive him crazy by repeatedly calling or messaging. Grover admitted to staying away from his phone. "Whenever I pick up the phone, just seeing the large number of missed calls scares me from checking them out."

He adds for the irritated scribes, "please give me your number, I will save it and pick up when you call me." Unfortunately, many have tried that, too, and still failed contacting him.

Grover's rising graph was confirmed by none other than Star One EVP Ravikant Menon who says that Dr Armaan is the real popular character of Dil Mill Gaye. Hence, Shilpa Anand walking out and being replaced by Sukriti Khandpal will not harm the show, he ends cooling the matter down.

Karan Singh Grover in a new avatar in Zara Nach Ke Dikha

Karan Singh Grover or Dr. Armaan is one of the hit stars on tellywood. He stared his career wit Ekta Kapoor's serial Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi where he was cast opposite to Panchi Bohra. He played the role of Arnav Deol in the serial. His role was little grey. Then he did Kasuti Zindagi Kii of the same banner where also he played a negative role. He did few more serials from other makers like Solah Singaar, Parriwar etc. but nothing helped him in inverting his image.
Then Karan got the role of Dr. Armaan Malik in Star One's serial- Dil Mil Gaye. It was a sequel of Star Plus's hit show- Sanjeevani. Soon Dill Mil Gaye became a major hit and its main lead- Dr. Armaan (Karan Singh Grover) and Dr. Ridhima (previously by Shilpa Anand and now by Sukriti Khandpal) became everyone's favorite.
With Dil Mil Gaye Karan got what he wanted- a positive image. This is the serial which brought him real success. Today Dil Mil Gaye is the best serial of the channel- Star One.
Considering the popularity chart of Karan Singh Grover, the makers of Zara Nach Ke Dikha roped Karan as an anchor on the show. He will be accompanied by Shweta Gulati (Tia of Star One's show Remix). In Zara Nach Ke Dikha, there will be a dance fight between the boys and girls and Karan and Shweta will host the show alongwith representing the boys and girls respectively.

Zara Nach Ke Dikha is getting popular day by day

Star One's Zara Nach Ke Dikha is being liked by the audiences very much. It is a dance based reality show in which boys and girls compete with each other. Along with the dance competition the viewers also enjoy the khatti meethi nok jhonk between the boys and the girls.
This show is packed with celebrities. Karan Singh Grover and Shweta Gulati are the hosts while Chunkey Pandey and Malaika Arora Khan are judging the show. The participants are also the well known faces of the tellywood- Ali Asgar, Dalnaz Paul, Bakhtiyar Irani, Narayani Shastri, Gaurav Chopra, Manish Goel, Karishama Tanna etc.
Both the teams present their dances in a very different and unique style. The show is being telecasted at 9- 30 pm on Mondays and Tuesdays.
On Mondays there are four rounds-
1) Tashan Round- where one participant from each team presents a dance item.
2) Zara Hat Ke Round- where two participants from both the teams dance on the given theme.
3) Jugalbandi Round- where one- one member from each team presents their dance item together that is it is a couple round.
4) Jhomo Brabar Jhoom Round- where there is a group dance presented by both the teams.
On the end of the episode the losing team got the chance to win by betting some points in the next round on Tuesdays where as the winning team has the chance to select the dance type for the Khallas round of Tuesday where the losing team will lose 20 points and one participant from their team.

On Tuesdays there are two rounds:
1) Lagi Bet Round- where both the teams present their dance item. The number of participants in this dance item is selected by the judges. If the team who has put its points on bet wins the same number of points are added in its total but on losing the same points are subtracted however the other team's points remains the same.
2) Khallas Round- in this round one participant from each team presents the item. One who wins the round is safe while the other is made to sit on the penalty bench. Moreover 20 points are subtracted from its team's grand total. This member can not participate in the next week's performances. He or she can come back to its team if in the next week his/ her team wins the Khallas round or by asking for excuse from the opponent team. The other team will give some punishment to him/ her in turn.
So all in all it is a very entertaining show to watch. From Monday's first round to Tuesday's Khallas round every dance item is very entertaining and interesting to watch. The punishments put by the teams to the member of other teams are also very interesting. The teams can use this option of having their members back in turn of some punishment can be used for only 4 times. So when this option will not be there, the game will become more interesting
