When the initial news of this series came to being, one of the things that also was said was that Shaheer's role will be similar to Hrithik's role in Zindagii Na Milegi Dobara. So I watched the movie to understand what kind of role Hrithik played in that movie. In the movie Arjun (Hrithik) is a stockbroker who is a workaholic. His backstory is that his father died when he was very young and left his mother with a mountain of debt. This has made him be determined to make enough money to ensure that his wife and kids never face that kind of situation. His girlfriend breaks up with him because of him putting his job above spending time with her. In the beginning of the movie he is shown to be a serious and mature person. But after meeting Katrina and spending time with her, he starts to loosen up and learns to live life and enjoy the moments.

One of his friend is Imran, an advertisement copy writer, who also writes peoms and shayari's. It is shown that he lives with his mother and his father left when he was just a baby. He resents this and is kind of estranged from his mother. He blames her for his father leaving them. He is shown to be funny and witty at the same time as someone who doesn't take anything seriously. During their trip, he finds whatever he can about his dad. Finally he meets up with him in the hopes to unite with him. But it is at that point that his father tells the truth as to why he left them. He reveals that he never wanted the responsibility of a married life with children but Imran's mother Rahila did. He also tells that even now he is still not ready for the responsibility of the kid and likes his freedom of continuing as an artist. It is then that Imran realizes how much he has hurt his mother and what his mother has went through in her life. After the trip when he comes home, he hugs and apologizes to her.

Watching the series, I feel that Abir is not the one who is portraying the role of Arjun(Hrithik), but it is Kunal. He is the one who feels his mother's pain and struggles after their father left them. Just like in the movie, he is heartbroken by his girlfriend leaving him. He is shown to be brooding over his heartbreak. Just like Katrina who helps Hrithik to come out of his heartbreak and the past, I feel Kuhu will help him to become more relaxed and learn to live in the moment in the future. I also feel that it is Kunal who will help Kuhu gain the perspective she currently lacks.

I feel Abir is like Imran in the movie. Just like Imran blames his mom for his father's leaving, Abir thinks his dad left because of his mom's dominating behavior. She has not told the truth of why he actually left. She is hoping that Abir understands her and doesn't keep the hope of his father coming back. It is this misunderstanding that has these two on the opposite ends most of the time. That is where Mishti and her father comes in. Her father who is a criminal who has been blackmailing the family who have adopted her and treat her as their own. They showed her finding Naman's truth now itself because she will be the one to help Abir realize and accept the truth regarding his father.

I am liking the way the story is progressing so far although the editing feels a little choppy. I hope that they get that back on track.

I agree with what you have said here. Its likely the story will progress in this direction. Kuhu will help balance out Kunal. And Mishi's issues with her own father will help Abir resolve his issues with his mother. I do hope we find the truth of Abir's father in due course.

However Menu also needs some perspective towards her own behaviour. At this point she is hell bent on trying to ensure her children don't make the same mistakes she made by running off to marry a man against her family's wishes. I am not entirely sure how that will play out in the course of the story. But I kind of like that they have given her that layer as well.

Hey Mallika, nice to see you here.

I totally agree that Menu needs a great deal of perspective towards her own behavior. She reminds me of Ishwari in some ways. 😊. I feel that the way she deals with heart break is to just shut it out and not really get closure. When Kunal broke up with his gf, her solution was to overload him with work so that he doesn't think about those events and circumstances. I feel she has done the same with her heart break too when her husband left her. She has tried to tell herself that it is for the good of the family, that she should not break down and show the world that she is strong. In doing that she has tried to suppress the pain and sadness associated with it. Result is she has become too dominating and manipulative. She needs to learn to express her pain as she expresses her other views of family and its importance.

I like the way the makers are creating these "relationships". One of the things that we need to understand is that life is not just about positive or negative, ups or downs. Both are part of life. Unfortunately sometimes one may top the other, but life is not fair. 😊 . When life gives us lemons, we can only make lemonade, not mango juice. The "aall iz well" concept is needed for us to get through our life.

After watching today's episode, somehow the movie While you were sleeping comes to mind. There was a Telechakkar news that Mishti doesn't say no to the alliance with Kunal, but asks for time to get to know him. I feel in that process, she will find that Abir is the one who is understands her more, with whom she can be herself and doesn't have to be someone else. Kunal too I think will come out of his mom's shadow and will start asserting himself and find that he has more in common with Kuhu than Mishti. Meenu will see that just because she thinks Mishti is the right one for Kunal based on their likes and dislikes, is not how relationship works. It is for her to come to terms with her past.

Agree with you Shaavi But Mishti shouldn't have agreed and asked time to know Kunal,Whatever Kuhu is accusing her till now ,then appear to be just right ,atleast for Kuhu,Varsha etc. Moreover no progressive girl will tolerate what Meenu did. Coming to consider one girl but choosing another...not a matter to be overlooked or forgiven. Mishti should have outrightly refused the alliance itself.

I partly agree with you Lakshmi. I know that it feels like Mishti should have rejected the alliance. As the story is going now with bade papa saying we will not have any relationship with the Rajvansh family, I don't know how it will come about that Mishti will say yes. But then in India, there is also familial pressure and emotional blackmail which cannot be ignored. Given that Mishti has been brought up by the Maheshwari family, there will be expectations. Right now there is no talk of indebtedness and gratitude. But it doesn't mean that it won't crop up.

In movie DIL Chahta Hai, Priety Zinta doesn't admit her love for Amir Khan but goes ahead with the wedding preparations. Because she feels that by doing so she will be repaying the kindness of Rohit's family. Mishti too may bow under the pressure from family.

Since that story is not unfolded yet, I am just guessing. Not sure how the story will go. But I am very excited about it. 😆 😆

Maheswaris were clearly irritated with Meenu's Proposal...I don't think they will feel bad if Mishti declines her offer. There won't be any family pressure ..Infact they feel elated if Mishti reacts that way..I don't know why but I really felt bad for Kuhu yesterday. She doesn't deserve that kind of treatment...

yes, kuhu doesnt deserve it. But its redeemed today- kuhu gave same treatment to mishti and varsha acknowledged. But seriously kuhu liked- sports car and kunal's charisma. she has no idea what kunal is like as a person.

I am one among those who got irritated with Kuhu and her over the top portrayal..I don't like her when she targets Mishti either. But still I felt bad yesterday for the way she was judged on the face by Meenu. I feel the same for anyone in her place. Yes Kuhu was more into Kunal's appearance and style, car included..that is her nature..
