Accident means accident unless it's intentional or caused by other factors like drunk driving , driving without licence etc or if causes seriously injury / death , hit & run , none of which is the case here ..

Cause manipulating Vidya does not really have that much of a value. Kaveri loves her position in the society above all. That position and power comes from money. Its Sanjay and Armaan who bring the most money home. We have already seen her let Sanjay get away with so many things, including being abusive with her own daughter. Kaveri never had the need to "please" Armaan before, but the threat of his resignation got her desperate.
