.Chapter 1.

"Abhira, you're okay. You're safe. Kuch nahi hua hai. Just stay awake. I'm driving you to the hospital." Those were the only words she heard before she blacked out.

...

"Abhira Bhabhi? Aankhein kholo na please!" Krish's frantic voice seemed to come out of nowhere. Where was she? Why was Krish's voice sounding so distant, as if he were screaming from miles away, when she could feel him standing right next to her? And why was everything so dark around her?

"Abhira, can you hear us?" She heard another low voice addressing her, and she could only nod.

"Abhira... dheere se aankhein kholo... you're doing great." She heard another voice as someone held her hand gently.

Ever so slowly, after what felt like an eternity, Abhira felt her eyes slowly opening, adjusting to the view in front of her. She seemed to be in a hospital, surrounded by Krish, Kiara, Aryan... Rohit? What was he doing here? Is he really alive, or is her mind playing tricks on her?

"Bhabhi ne aankhein khol diya! Thank god Bhabhi!" yelled Krish, as he launched himself at Abhira to give her a bone-crushing hug.

"Krish... main theek hoon. Ek dum fit and fine" said Abhira, as the other Poddar siblings engulfed her in a hug.

Her eyes automatically flitted to Rohit, who was looking at her with a concern that equaled the rest.

"Rohit, tum zinda ho? Tumhe andaaza bhi nahi hai, how happy I am to see you safe. Kahan gaye the tum? Ghar wapas kyun nahi aaye?" asked Abhira, as she held Rohit's hand, mentally thanking Kanhaji for keeping him safe.

"I'm sorry, Abhira. Main selfish tha. Mera dil toot gaya tha, aur mujhe kuch din akele rehna tha." said Rohit, looking ashamed.

"Matlab? What do you mean tumhara dil toot gaya tha? Ruhi ne kuch kaha tumse? Hua kya hai?" asked Abhira, her mind running around in circles.

"I'll tell you everything Abhira, kyunki tumhe bhi sach jaan ne ka haq hai." said Rohit, a look of determination on his face. "Guys, mujhe Abhira se akele kuch baat karni hai. Can you guys go home? Aur ghar pe kisi ko bhi yeh mat bata na ki hum Abhira se mile the? And if someone enquires about me, tell them ki main apne dost se milne gaya hoon." Rohit turned to his cousins for confirmation.

"Take care, Bhabhi. Hum wapas aayenge aapse milne." said Krish, as Charu, Aryan, Kiara, and Krish hugged her again before leaving.

"Abhira, there is so much that you need to tell me, and so much that you need to know too. Samaj nahi aa raha hai ki main kahan se shuru karun." said Rohit, as he took a seat next to Abhira.

"Start from why you left home, Rohit. Tumhe pata bhi hai ki Maa, Papa, Dadisa, Armaan, sabka haal kitna kharab ho gaya tha? Aur Ruhi... tumhe pata hai woh kitna royi thi?" asked Abhira, unable to prevent the tone of accusation leaving her.

"Armaan Bhaiyya aur Ruhi ko toh khush hona chahiye tha Abhira. Shayad ek do din ke liye bura laga hoga, lekin uske baad toh they would have definitely been fine." said Rohit, a bitter edge in his voice.

"Rohit, yeh tum kya bol rahe ho? For all his faults, Armaan really loves you. Tum apne bhai ke baare mein aise kaise bol sakte ho?" asked Abhira, shocked at the resentment Rohit held towards his brother.

"Because Armaan Bhaiyya and Ruhi are the reason I left the Poddar Mansion, Abhira. Armaan Bhaiyya aur Ruhi ek dusre se pyaar karte hai. Aur Ruhi ne sirf isiliye mujhse shaadi ki, taaki woh Armaan Bhaiyya ke paas reh sake." Abhira sunk back as if she had been slapped.

"Yeh... yeh tum kya bol rahe ho, Rohit?" asked Abhira, not believing her ears.

"Sach, Abhira. Every word that I've said now is true. Woh dono apne pyaar ke liye lad nahi paaye, aur isme meri zindagi barbaad kar diya. Tumhari bhi." A lone tear escaped Rohit's eye as he thought about Armaan and Ruhi's betrayal.

"Rohit, I am so sorry. I am so sorry that you had to go through this." said Abhira, as she pulled Rohit into a hug.

"No, Abhira. I am sorry. I am sorry for the way my family treated you. I am so sorry ki you had to listen to their poisonous words. You didn't deserve that. Krish ne mujhe sab kuch bata diya." said Rohit, anger evident on his face as he remembered the accusations hurled at Abhira.

"Chodo na, Rohit. Ab toh main uss ghar mein nahi hoon. Kya fark padta hai. I'm away from that place and I'm going to build a happy life for myself. I just want you to take care of yourself." said Abhira, taking Rohit's hand in hers.

"Nahi Abhira. My family should answer to every insult they have hurled at you, Abhira. Armaan Bhaiyya and Ruhi should answer to everything they have done to you. And I promise you that I will get them to apologize for everything they have done to you. Aur main Armaan Bhaiyya ki tarah fake promises nahi deta hoon. I mean it. I will stand by you. And it's not because I personally want to get back at Armaan Bhaiyya and Ruhi. It's because your mother died to save Armaan Bhaiyya's life, and they have no right to be this ungrateful towards her sacrifice." said Rohit.

This was a promise to himself, and the girl who was trapped in a sham of a marriage, just as he was. And he would be damned before he would see his family mistreat her again.

Hey guys! How did you all like the first chapter? This SS will focus as much on Rohit-Abhira bond along with the couples.

Now, THIS is how you write a male lead!

Sorry but, the way Pendulum Sa is being written lately isn't how to write a male lead.

On the other hand, I am so used to Baby Sa and Rohit seeing eo as BIL/SIL (even tho they only had very few interactions and he disappeared short after their respective marriages), that I dunno how I'd feel about them as a couple, if that's where this is going.

But I will enjoy to the fullest Pendulum Sa's jealousy and the sibling rivalry (+ Ruhi being angry neither sibling is paying her any attention).

So far, so good.

Waiting for the confrontation btw Armaan/Rohit and the latter putting his family in their rightful place.

I want him to do some good beizzati of the Bhabhi-Jeth Laila/Majnu in front of both their families.

Suwarna ki wig uske sarr se alag hoke udh jayegi yeh sab dekh kar!
