TRP audience

I always had one question when everyone says TRP audience/aunties in comments likes dislikes something..who do you think is that audience ..is their viewpoint different from us..I always have this question who do these writers write as target audience as most of their tracks are very regressive..more sad a track more it generates TRp supposedly ..is it just people who watch on Tv called as TRp audience unlike us who watch online ..I have read comments like online feedback doesn't matter for makers as we are not contributing in TRp..and us watching online doesn't make any difference at all to a show..I started seeing a number of good shows but generally they get axed as they don't get TRps ..any thoughts how do this TRP thing works

As per my understanding barc has installed these trp boxes in some house hold and they get some gifts or money in return so this box will not be present in rich ppl house hold as why do they need treats from barc to share their likings.

So all these ppl middle aged women and my assumptions is that it's majorly in big cities like mumbai, delhi etc. In these cities young kids hardly watch tvs. The women's of house turn on tv and simultaneously do their house chores. Occasionally kids take remote from their parents when it's cricket time or something which will look good to watch on tv. Else these ppl have overall control on tv.

So majorly these ppl contribute trps and since they may not be as advanced as our fl. They still have social stigmas how women should be.

They see themselves in fls place. Maa worked as they spent 300+ episode to show how bad her situation was. When maa moved on trp audience was with her. But akshara will not be entertained much by them as for them abhimanyu is equally important as akshara. They see their son in ml and daughter in fl.

If fl is tortured they feel their daughter may get tortured like that in future.

If ml is tortured they feel our son may get tortured like this in future.

So that's how i feel they watch the show as i have seen many ppl literally getting attached to the show. Talking about it as if the character are their relative.

In order for them to connect with the show leads should get sympathy from them.

One thing I didn’t like about online fans or youngsters from IF/social media is that they shame regular tv viewers as “trp aunties” as if they are superior or something. They blame these “trp audience” for the regressive story lines in ITV and continue watch it/discuss about it. I had this experience in another show’s IF page. The show was regressive and frustrating and it really affected my mental state , so I quit watching it.. People there were talking and blaming trp audiences for higher trps. Then once the season 1 was ending m they were saying they will never watch the season 2, but it seems like they are still watching it. Lol. And when season 2 ended, they were so proud of the their leads to have a higher trp. The audacity and hypocrisy is unbelievable!!

IMO, trp audiences just don’t care much about any show like online viewers do. They just watch and then may be talk about it and then move on. I think we online viewers are the people who are talking, making vms and debating over silly things more than it deserves. Basically online viewers are more obsessed with ITV than so called “trp aunties”.

ps: I am realising I am getting obsessed with yrkkh and IF. I should take a break from IF..

How does TRP rating work though? Do the show makers receive daily episode trps, that way they know which track is exactly bringing in TRP? I’m pretty sure they receive the TRP way before it’s shared on social media to fans.

To think that our opinion on a show or actor or Jodi is absolute is fooling oneself.

"Trp audience" is the collective opinion on a show . Why certain things work and why they don't , if it's known to everyone , all the show would be hits ...all shows are toxic that doesn't mean all are at #1 or all are successful...

Daily shows work on a totally different format ..its either daily entertainment for some or its daily gossip fodder but here on the forum , we are far too obsessed with these shows than the trp aunties

Trp aunties switch on the TV and switch off when the show is over..but criticizing it endlessly just bec of the fav actor or actress is far worse.

BARC has reached to 55000 households- data December 2023. In total 300+ Mn households have tv and out of which TRP is measured with these 55K households.

In my understanding this TRP aunties/audience is just a term we have created.

Also, I don't think the shows are only made now for TRP audience. The sole purpose of TRP is to set advertising rates for that slot. Makers do cater a large audience and keep them in mind while creating anything.- Atleast they think they do.

In India TV viewing is a family activity or an activity that might go on in parallel to cooking, dinner, kids homework etc. That inherently makes social drama a preference for families as considered to "hot romance" that online audience seems to want.

And no one cares about actors amongst trp audience. A Shahrukh or Salman movie guarantees an opening even if a movie flops later- no tv actor has that kind of stardom. It's always the characters who either connects or misses.

Reason ppl like us don’t matter is they don’t money from online viewers. On TV they have ads so the ad makers pay them to show the adds. Obviously prime time slot at night is most coveted as mostly people get time to watch at night - even working ppl.
