Why do these serials perpetuate the idea that a baby's life is more valuable than a mother's through female leads that utter this line again and again?

The amount of times I've heard this dialogue in these shows, holy crap. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I would hope that he shuts that narrative down immediately.

How else would they make the FL look even more mahaan?

These perpetuate the idea of how the female should put everyone above her even if it means death. That’s what makes her “good.”

It’s too regressive but what can you do? Most itv shows still show this. A more realistic storyline would be dealing with a loss - the way a couple and a mother recuperates after this . In s1 they show something along those lines. The guilt sorrow anger and frustration of Nk-Ak. In s2 they show Kartik (Mohsin at his personal best) grieving. But then they cut it short with an infant kidnapping story line 🤦‍♀️

AFAIK irl this is not even a thing. I don’t think the “choice” in such circumstance is even given to the husband or to anyone else for that matter. The doctor will always save the mother first.

I didn't really even understand the basis of the promise! I would've understood if she said this thing more towards the end of the pregnancy and you start getting a bit scared of delivery and everything! What's the point saying it so early on, like if anything happens now there 0% of babies surviving anyway.

If I knew having a baby could endanger my life I would choose my life over a developing fetus. Does that make me selfish? No it makes me practical. Why should a human not even yet born or lived be given priority over an already existing and fully developed human life?

True..what's the point in giving up your life for babies ? When akshu is dead , when she doesn't become a mother, when she doesn't feel any joy of having the baby, what is she having babies for ? How will the motherless babies brought up? Abhimanyu can have babies but not akshu. It'd all too ridiculous .instead she can opt for surrogacy or adoption ..so much importance they give to having babies as if it's the ultimate aim of life...the upbringing of children is also the parents responsibility. If the mother chooses to have kids over her own life , who will tc of the babies once they r born ?

there is no choice in this.. The doctor will always save the mother and never ask "who should I save " .

Along with this I didn't like abhimanyus dialogues also..

"Sab theek nai sab perfect chahiye " ..hein? 🤔

"Mujhe 0.00000001% risk bhi nahi lena" ?

When is everything perfect and when is there not a risk ? Gotta show how immature both r to have a baby . One wants to do exact what she's being told not to do..another can't deal with anything less than perfect ..

In my pov This type of so called promises r ridiculous. Y can't they think about baby. How can a baby live without mother. Infact if she gets to know her mother died while saving her. She will die with guilt.

Kaira were phenomenal at depicting those emotions, it truly broke my heart. That’s acc why season four of Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan is my favourite because it’s showing a realistic perspective of miscarriage, grief, and the realities of being pregnant. I wish Abhira took a similar route but I’m still quite impressed that they show Abhimanyu’s husband instincts > parental. He loves his children but not at the cost of his wife and at every step, he’s shown the same whether that he urging for an abortion or not asking about the babies when he found Akshu in the woods after their picnic

I think Naira was robbed of her chance to grieve properly coz they had that memory loss track and restart of their romance but Mohsin! Man I can’t get over how good he was. Since I always thought he was an okay-okay actor. This is one of the very few scenes (from itv shows) that actually made me tear up.
I forgot to mention Keesh’s Grief too. Keerti lying on the bed crying and Naksh comes and hugs her. Touching.

I agree with you. Abhimanyu acted logically and kept his wife above all. That was a good touch. I also like how the family didn’t forbid them or anything. Coz if it was S2 KDadi, I am sure she’d have spent atleast 3 episodes cursing Naira.

That arc was performed so well by the entire cast. As much as I despise the timing of the memory-loss track, it did highlight Mohena's acting prowess.

I think tracks related to children in general were executed well. For example, Akshara and Naira's first meeting after the leap was out of this world. Likewise, the scene where Kaira are crying in the car knowing their daughter is alive but not with them makes me tear up just thinking about it.

Dadi's response surprised me! It showed character growth cause like you said season 2 choices differed greatly. That's especially evident in Manish's character; in his introduction in season 2 to his growth as Naira's advocate in the Goenka house (siding with her over Kartik) to the wise yet stern grandfather. Sachin is a fabulous actor and I'm sad it took me season 3 and Woh toh ha albela to realize it
