Mahima taunts Akshu by saying that now Manjari will have help at home. The rest of them need to go to work, but they will stay there. Mahima is so insecure of Akshu and her success at the hospital that she won’t leave any opportunity to bring Akshu down.
Manjari brings up the rasams and asks if they can all do it together. She has invited Goenkas too. Akshu is so happy in this scene. It is the little things and being with family that make her happiest, and Manjari knows that. She truly is treating her like her own daughter, and that is so beautiful. Harsh says that they are professionals so they don’t have time — again, their jobs are an excuse to not prioritize family. Mahima says they have meetings, but Anand says they can do it online since these are important too. Anand is still somewhat toxic, but he is the most levelheaded out of all of these elders.
Akshu makes Manjari sit down next to her, and right then, Harsh screams for his sugar free mixture. She runs to go get it, and Abhi comes and breaks the plate. Akshu is entirely shocked and startled in this scene. She looks terrified.
We then get the precap scene.
Harsh leaves from the table, Manjari goes after him, Abhi follows, and Akshu and the rest of the family go too. We get the precap scene of Harsh yelling and Abhi screaming back that he cannot talk to Manjari like this. Harsh says he is so disrespectful and soon Akshu will be like this too. Abhi tells Harsh not to drag Akshu into this because she knows how to behave with people. Harsh says do your mom and wife’s aarthi and hang me. Abhi says there is no need for that, but how he treats people is how he will be treated in return. He says this is how he has always been since childhood. Harsh brings up education, and Abhi says even an uneducated person would know how to behave.
Anand tells them both to shut up and leaves from there.
Again, Harsh leaves no chance to drag Akshu into everything and berate her. Harsh is a master self victimizer and I think a part of him now feels that Abhi, Manjari, and Akshu will all be on a team against him. He was already triggered that Akshu dared to make Manjari’s favorite kheer instead of his. He cannot see Manjari getting attention over him — and now, in addition to Abhi, there is another person there who deeply values her. On top of that, he is getting more and more insecure that Abhi loves them so much and hates him. He refuses to see that his disrespect and lack of emotional understanding is the reason Abhi hates him.
Also, the dialogue about Harsh saying that he is talking to his wife and not Abhi’s mom — this reminded me of the tilak scene when Akshu tells him that all relationships are tied together by a thread. Harsh thinks that relationships can be separated. He believes that he can treat Manjari however he wants, and that is none of Abhi’s business. But, he needs to understand that all relationships are connected. His wife is also Abhi’s mom — the same mom that he has witnessed him abusing his entire life. How will Abhi ever be able to respect him like this? And this is exactly what Akshu will teach the Birlas — the value of family and love.
Abhi’s severe anger only makes Harsh more riled up against Akshu and Manjari, because Harsh’s ego and clouded judgement takes Abhi’s yelling as yet another indication of how these women are taking his son from him. Abhi’s anger and screaming is not the answer to fixing these issues. Clearly this has been going on for so long, and nothing has changed. However, I don’t blame him at all either.
He has witnessed his dad abusing his mom since he was a kid. Harsh is always the one to start yelling, and Abhi reciprocates. Abhi probably thought, as a kid, that yelling is the only way to be heard. And, him wanting to protect Manjari, did everything he could. Now, that has extended to Akshu too. Abhi himself is so traumatized by Harsh’s behavior, and the yelling is a survival mechanism at this point. The issue is that while it might stop Harsh in the moment, it does not solve these abusive patterns.
Everyone leaves the scene, and Shefali tells Akshu not to worry. She says to eat breakfast and that she will get used to this. I feel so bad for her too, because she has had to adjust into this toxic household. I really appreciated this scene of her trying to console Akshu.
Manjari tells Akshu not to think too much and that she will send her breakfast upstairs. Everyone is used to this, but Akshu is not. Who wouldn’t be scared in her situation? The Birlas are used to this, but she isn’t. The Goenkas never treated each other this way when she was growing up. She knew about the Birla issues from a distance, but this is the first time she is in right there in the middle of it. Also, she has already gone through so much in her first 24 hrs there. She keeps getting reality check after reality check.
Akshu is sitting upstairs in her room remembering everything. Abhi comes and does the bluff master performance for her. It was so well executed and they were so in sync!
Abhi asks her to please smile and let it go. He apologizes for everything going wrong this first day and says he didn’t want this to happen. He says that he has never hid anything from her and never will — she knew this was their relationship and now she has seen it up close. He tells her not to blindly support anyone and her POV is really important too. He says to please accept this family and do whatever she wants. Abhi is so freaking understanding of her. He will never force his beliefs or relationships onto her. He will let her make her own space in this house. Even though he has a bad relationship with Harsh, he does not want the same for Akshu.
Akshu asks him why he talks this way, and Abhi says she doesn’t know what has happened since childhood. He says to let it go and focus on their rasams since they just got married. There is more to the story here that will slowly start unraveling.
Akshu isn’t even upset with Abhi specifically. She is upset with the entire situation. She does not believe in solving issues yelling in this way. She does not like the way Abhi’s anger speaks. Akshu knows how to handle conflict really well, but she does it gently and peacefully. She does not speak much, but when she does, people have to listen. Slowly, but surely, Abhi will watch her and listen to her, and he will change too. And, I am sure we will get more conversations in the future where Abhi tells her about the past and she better understands why he reacts this way in the first place. Neither one of them were wrong today!
Abhi changes the topic and says to get ready for him and make him mad. They have a cute moment, but Neil barges in. They have a cute banter about knocking vs. locking the door and Neil says Akshu will set the rules now. Neil and Akshu tease Abhi together. Abhi wants to get ready with Akshu, but Akshu kicks both Neil and Abhi out.
The Goenkas are meanwhile excited to go meet Akshu.
Akshu comes walking down the stairs and she looks STUNNING. Abhi is totally smitten. She goes running and Abhi thinks that she is going to him, but really, the Goenkas have arrived. Akshu gets so emotional, and I don’t blame her. She is already so attached to her family, and on top of that, she has gone through hell in 1 day. Abhi sees the Goenkas and he doesn’t feel bad 1 bit. He understands what Akshu is going through, and this really shows his character progression too. He joins Akshu and welcomes the Goenkas.
Anand tells Akshu not to cry so much or else the Goenkas will think they tortured her as a joke. But this is the reality. Kairav senses something is off, but Akshu brushes it off.
Harsh taunts Manish saying that they are businessmen but still find time for all of this. Manish fires back perfectly saying its all about priorities.
Akshu is so happy that she keeps thanking Manjari for calling her family. Manjari tells her to always keep smiling. Akshu makes her sit and says she will go get the drinks. These two are going to be each other’s greatest supporters.
Harsh is standing in the corner telling Mahima and Anand that the people who Abhi worships keep multiplying like a virus but he will never be one of them. Anand says he is burning with jealously and it’s good that they are doing the meeting from home because Abhi would have been more upset had they not been there. Anand understands Abhi more than his own father. Harsh has 0 respect for Abhi nor the people he loves the most, and yet he expects Abhi to worship him.
Anand goes and sits on the couch but ignores Manish because a phone call comes. Abhi looks so pissed and everyone else is so uncomfortable. They now go to the meeting.
Precap- HAM wants to remove the music department. Abhi finds out and yells at Harsh in front of everyone saying he is not going to destroy Akshu’s happiness and ambitions like he did Manjari’s. This must be so traumatic for Abhi, because it is history repeating itself. Akshu is so over the fighting and so scared. She gently speaks up and says the music department is up to them, but she has made a decision of her own.
