this is simply obsession.ppl r pointing a blunder n here too defending my fav comes into question.wow!!if it had been some other character than akshara, ppl would hv start morcha who r saying "its a freaking show, get over it" i hv nothing against akshara n i guess everyone can see that from my posts i hv made in this forum but u cant even say what is wrong then u ll b treated as a "deshdrohi" 😆 if a bride is shown wearing white lahanga in her wedding thats apshagun n if sumbody say its wrong to wear white in church weding other than bride then "its a freaking show" n all starts attacking that one person.a simple healthy discussion going on what they showed was wrong.nobody attacked akshara/hina for that.nobody even attacked makers for that.just stated we felt it wrong n hurt our sentiment but here too they hv to prove "fangirling is way more than neutral view"

I mentioned this earlier in a previous post.

CVS made a major blunder with the hair, makeup, and dressing of some of the cast for the wedding.
Lot of people from abroad watch this show and it shows disrespect for a catholic wedding what they have shown. Some of the hairstyles and gowns were tacky as if dressing up for a Cinderella ball. It made a mockery of the wedding. Others were dressed very gracefully. They should have researched properly before displaying such a scene. I feel those wearing Indian dress looked more graceful at the wedding for example Rajshri, Naman's mom, and Naira. Nandani and Rukhmini looked odd. Rose looked nice. Akshara was way overdone and usually she is dressed very nicely so I am surprised to see her like this. She was too overdramatic and I don't think it was required. It was a distraction in the wedding and took away from the fact that it was Rose and Yash's wedding where the focus should have been more on them at least for the ceremony. Any foreign person watching the show would be quick to point out this mistake. Also I have never seen that ritual of adding different colors on a thali after the ceremony. I feel as if that was made up ritual. I have attended a lot of Catholic weddings.

Imagine if in an American show they have an episode of an indian wedding and they show the bride wearing a white indian wedding dress and reinforce stereotypes of Indians. Most Indians would not like it at all and say that they are giving Indians a bad name.
We know Rukhmuni's behavior but to constantly make a scene and put down brides family is wrong. No one would accept or tolerate that kind of behavior. Totally inappropriate behavior at a wedding in a church. The drama was not needed. If anything it added to negative indian stereotypes that people have and made our culture look very regressive. Inter racial marriages are getting quite common and I think they could have showed that better. In the weddings I have attended respect was given to both cultures of the bride and groom to have a fusion wedding.
I don't wish to participate in the personal attacks that take place in this forum because they take away from having good conversation about the content of the show which is meant to be a family oriented one. My own family member is married to someone who is catholic and both families took extra care to respect each others traditions.
I have been to weddings where the invitation clearly says any guest wearing white will not be allowed to attend the ceremony. It is a very big deal not to be taken lightly or made a joke of. If we as a culture want to be respected and taken seriously then we also have to respect other peoples culture which is different than ours. We can't expect everyone to compromise 100% to meet our expectations. Abroad you meet people from so many different places and learn to respect diversity.

But yeah i dont know much about church wedding but i thought only bride is supposed to wear a white gown..
Also the gown akshara was made to.wear is a bridal gown.. i

I don't know if that's a hard and fast rule that no other guest should wear white but it is definitely appreciated if no one does. It's the day of the bride. Why to wear something exactly same like her and take away the spotlight?

^This. Agreed wholeheartedly.

Characters like Rukhmini are needed by cvs for the drama element but it just creates negativity. I find it very irritating when no one tries to stop such characters. They just keep making flabbergasted expressions.

Even in an earlier wedding track there was a character called DadiBua who would constantly keep commenting on the bride's family or choices.

I felt Akshara could have worn something else as it looked like it was her wedding, not Rose's.

I am an indian parent of a college aged daughter and we live abroad.
I grew up in a traditional indian home and my own child is raised in the best of both cultures.

When she sees me watching indian dramas she gets a negative impression that when an indian girl gets married her mil is going to harass her. (old indian mentality that they show in indian dramas)
I have seen young indian women get discouraged from marrying an indian guy because of this negative impression. Not everyone is bad. A lot of people have changed with the times and have become practical. They want their daughters to be well educated and work and don't discriminate between daughter and son. I realize this may not be the case in some homes in india. I would not force my daughter to marry someone who was not her choice.

I see a lot of mixed marriages because sometimes the kids feel more accepted and feel similar values with someone from another culture. It is an unwritten rule of catholic weddings that the bride wears white and the guests don't. We respect that. It is up to each bride to decide what traditions she wants to follow in her wedding but it is not very common to break that rule. In contrast if we had an indian wedding in a gurdwara we would expect that all attendees to cover their head. Someone may choose not to follow that rule but it would bother those who believe that head should be covered.
Another example when we enter a temple we take off our shoes and we have that feeling that anyone entering a place we consider sacred should also follow those rules.

I wish indian shows would start reflecting the new thinking so that viewers get a fresh perspective and become more open to change for the better. Stop showing the evil MIL. Start showing parents encouraging their daughters to have an education and career. Start showing dil's standing up for their rights and speaking with confidence. I felt uncomfortable watching an English girl Rose apologizing and begging Yash's dadi in several scenes. Honestly as an indian I never liked the bidai ceremony and feel they should really do away with that. For me whenever my own daughter gets married I will tell her my home is always open for you. She will always be my daughter and I will always welcome her to my home happily.

I look forward in a change in attitude shown in indian shows but that change in thinking has to come from the writers first.

If in a foreign show an Indian tradition is showed wrongly or mocked at will it go well with us. When a tradition from other culture is shown atleast basic things should be followed. Hina is beautiful she is the lead. But does it mean that Akshara should be like bride in other marriages because she is the lead. Actually Akshara was looking like a bride and rose poor girl did not have the white gown too to wear in her own wedding wearing a white lehanga?

Few fans have the habit here how to raise any matter against Akshara , if a simple reason they found they start attacking her characer, No good to be seen done by Ak's character in entire Yash-Rose wedding , A white color dress code has become a matter to discuss & point out on Ak & creatives..Joh accha sochtein aur dekhte hain woh character ki dressing per dyaan na de ker uske goodness in character ko mehsoos jyaada karte hain..Agar itni choti batoin se aser padhne lage toh samaaz titer-biter ho jai..Criticizing Ak for white dress, Rose & even Rose mom wear white too..kya illogic topic hai sentiments..bekaar ki baatein hai ye sab...
