here are my thoughts on this DOTW :
1. it took me a lot of time to understand what is "ego" actually.. when i was a little kid.. my teacher told me.. you don't say sorry for your mistake.. that's ego.. that was in class 7th.. when i grew up.. people told me.. i will not bend down.. another person will.. that's ego.. now.. i understand what is ego.. ego is nothing but rating your self above others.. i cannot be wrong.. i cannot apologise.. and many more things concerning only I.. Me and Myself..
there's a minute difference what we call self-respect and ego.. and the main problem is that people often mistake their ego as their self-respect.. daddaji too did a same mistake.. he thought it is against his self respect to take money from his samdhis.. which is absolutely right.. but the way he reacted after getting to know that there was no other way apart from this.. it showed how much ego he had in him.. "maine aisa keh diya.. to mere khilaf jaane ki zurrat kyon ki gayi.." it reflected his ego.. and again.. because of his inflated ego.. everyone in the house is suffering.. right from akshara to daddaji himself..
2. akshara as sarita di said is too selfless to get into kitchen politics.. she doesn't care a damn about how gayatri feels for her.. the only thing ki knows is that i have to make her happy.. as she is my second mother.. she treats gayatri as her mother and that is why she isn't really bothered about what she says.. ma ne daanta.. to ye ma ka pyaar hai.. ma baat nhi kar rhi hai to ma naraaz hai.. humse hi galti hui hogi..
may be this is because of her upbringing.. the house in which she was brought up.. had no politics as such.. dadi and rajshri lived peacefully.. even choti and rajshri lived peacefully.. and therefore.. when akshara's upbringing had been so pure.. she thinks the whole world is pure.. there is no fault in anyone except her.. she thinks they are her elders and know what is right and what is wrong much better than her.. that is why she chooses to take things lightly.. but she does not realise that in this process she IS losing her self-respect.. she definitely tries to mend things by love.. and to an extent she is successful too.. naitik understands this trait of her's.. that is why he is there to support her.. but in the end of the day.. what's there with you apart from self respect..
i feel here.. may be.. her parameters for what she calls self respect might be different.. may be she thinks that how well am i able to keep my family tied into just one strand of love is what is my self respect.. it looks like this to me when i watch her on screen.. though im not too sure..
3. the singhania's have been feeding daddaji's ego for quite a while now.. generation gap is a reason for his high standards of ego.. but the main reason for this highly inflated ego is power.. or lack of it..
in daddaji's case.. right from the beginning.. there was no one to question his power.. his brother thinks of him highly.. not even once questions him for doing certain things.. bhabhi ma also.. poore din she goes on with her song.. tumhare daddaji.. tumhare daddaji.. that's it.. but.. whith munna.. things changed.. he takes decisions by himself.. which are right also.. family's honour is more anytime important than feeding someone's ego.. daddaji doesn't realise this and hence.. he is at loss..
gayatri i feel has so much ego just because of lack of power.. bahu aise karti hai.. maine kabhi kiya hai aisa.. mera man karta tha and blah blah blah.. she goes on comparing herself and her bahu.. not realising that they belong to different generations altogether and the kind of atmosphere they were brought up in was poles apart.!! also.. RB doesn't care for her as naitik does for akshara.. and that is the reason she behaves like this..
4. naitik's ego has lessened from what we saw in march 2009.. may be because he had suffered the consequences.. akshara went away from him.. and that was the time he realised that his akshara is way more important than his ego.. and i loved him for that.. the way he moulded himself.. curbed his ego and showed his care for akshara.. i don't think many can do it.!! after marriage.. or after that unfortunate incident happened on jan 12th 2010.. he has changed for the better.!!!
