Hey, just caught up on the last three parts and really enjoyed them.
It was so interesting to read about how their dynamics changed over the years and different phases of life. Poor Naina... so in love.. must be so hard for her to see with so many different girls over the years. Feeling really sad for her.Looking forward to the college phase now!
Chapter 5
It was evening time. The sky was covered with clouds and it could rain any time. However at Nirmal Jyoti Society in Ahemdabad, the thunder had taken place long back, and the heavy showers were happening at the present.
The Aggarwal house was never a quiet, normal home, it was more of a argument filled, rather violent boxing ring, where the said family had to live. But today, the topic of the brand new argument was Naina's higher education.
"O bai, iss Naina ke liye itne paise kyu kharch karne hai? Patel Mahavidyalaya ki fees jaante ho Anand Babu. Are lut jayenge hum log. Iske baap ke paas toh paise hai nahi. Ise hume hi padhana likhana hoga. Yeh Rakesh ji toh iski shaadi Kar le, usi mein hum Ganga naha lenge." Taiji said while looking at Rakesh with intense dislike.
Rakesh was livid, yet again. He turned to Naina and exclaimed "Dekh Liya, teri wajah se kya kya sunna pad raha hai mujhe. Log sirf gareeb aadmi Ko taane hi maar sakte hai. Zyada padhai likhai ka bhoot chadha tha. Jaanti nahi ki iss Ghar mein dushmano ki kami nahi hai"
His "reasonable" anger towards Naina would have continued till eternity, until Anand could not bear it anymore, " Bhaisahab ismein Naina ki koi galti nahi hai. Please us bechari Ko mat daatiye. Aur bhabhi ji aap, Naina meri bhi bacchi hai. Uski padhai hum sabki zimmedari hai. Aur thode paiso se agar humari bacchi Ko acchi Shiksha milti hai toh ismein kya buraai hai"
"Ne vah, Lekin woh thode paise aap aur hum hi kyu denge. Yeh Rakesh ji kuch nahi karenge kya. Inka sirf ek beta nahi, Balki ek ladki bhi hai. Woh toh iss ladki ka rang-roop aur nain-naksh theek thaak hai, warna toh shaadi hi na ho iski. O Rakesh ji, ladki jitni bhi sundar ho, lekin bina dahej ke uski shaadi nahi hoti. Pooja ki shaadi se hi kuch seekh lete. Anand Babu ne paanch lakh kharche the, tum kya paanch sau kharchoge"
The taunt had hit Rakesh hard. Even after repeated apologies to Rakesh from Anand, on the behalf of Taiji, he was still firm on his desicion of Naina's enrollment in VJN instead of Patel Mahavidyalaya, whose fees was more affordable for the house. Anand was extremely disappointed with this fact, while Taiji seemed satisfied. Tauji had no say, as usual while Bela was not permitted to say anything. However, Preeti was still happy that Naina will be studying with her and Swati, but Naina's mind was lost
Sameer is in VJN too and going there would mean, facing Sameer for one whole year. She could not believe, that she actually thought that she could get over her feelings for him. She cursed her kundali, and pleaded to God to do some miracle. But obviously, nothing really happened and one such ordinary morning, Naina found herself getting ready for her first day in college, with usual tips about setting her hair, from Preeti.
--------------------------------
It was morning time and VJN College was filled with an air of excitement and freshness. The fact that it was a brand new year at college meant different things to different people. Some were relieved to be back at college, and finally get a break from their nagging family members. Some were excitedly chatting about the upcoming inter-college competitions. Some had already planned the proposal for their crush ,while others chatted about movies. Lovers breathed a sigh of relief at coming back, since a break from college meant a break from love life. The majority of them however, were waiting for the arrival of first years. New beautiful girls, excitement among second years about being seniors and most of all - ragging...
The senior students were crowded around the The Red Rose restaurant or the college entrance, waiting for their buddies, while first years were looking at the college in complete awe. But the way they were running away from seniors, one could tell that they were scared of getting ragged.
Suddenly, a brand new motorcycle came speeding by and entered the college. The young rider was wearing goggles, a blue t-shirt, white jacket and matching white jeans. His silky hair were flying in the air and he greatly resembled the actor Salman Khan.
All the people present around, turned to ogle at him. Some even came from inside the college, to catch a glimpse of The cricket legend and college hero, Sameer Maheshwari. As he went to park his bike, some girls sighed dreamily, while some swooned. He got down from the bike and took his goggles off, only to reveal a pair of beautiful eyes. Around him, students were still staring at him in admiration. Suddenly a young man of same age came running towards him and exclaimed
"Arey Sameer, aa gaya, kitni der laga di. Humne decide Kiya tha na ki jaldi aayenge"
"Sorry Munna. Dekh Bura mat maan. Nanaji Ko kaam tha"
Munna looked satisfied with the answer and both of them started walking inside. They reached The Red Rose restaurant and sat themselves on their table. Arjun and Pandit were already seated there.
" Maheshwari ji thoda jaldi aane se aap beemaar nhi padenge. Guarantee deta hoon"
"Chodh na Pandit, ise kaha humari parva hai"
Sameer grinned and answered, "Tum logo ke sivaaye aur kisi ki parva nahi hai, samjha Arjun" He began elaborating about how Nanu started discussing about his career as a buisnessman, this being the last year and all, and how Sameer promised to join the factory immediately after graduation.
Their conversation was interrupted when a voice came from the adjacent table, "Hi, Sameer".
The source of the voice was a girl of about twenty, wearing a sleeveless red top, a black coloured skirt that barely reached her knees and a 2 inches heels. Her hair were left open and reached her shoulders. She was smiling all flirtatious at Sameer.
Munna, Pandit and Arjun were busy looking at her outfit, while other boys were ogling at her.Sameer however, eyed her with contempt. But remembering his social etiquette, he put on a forced smile and answered, "Hi, Sunaina".
Sunaina walked towards him and sat herself on his adjacent chair. Sameer clenched his fists in irritation.
"You know, main chuttiyo mein ek dum bore ho gayi thi. Kuch nahi tha karne ko, aur koi baat karne ko bhi nahi tha" The moment she said that, she went closer to him and sighed flirtatiously. Munna and Pandit's eyes widened, while Arjun coughed uncomfortably.
Sameer pushed her back and finally snapped," Dekho Sunaina, Maine pehle bhi kaha tha, par ab fir keh raha hoon, main tum mein interested nahi hoon. Aur tum mein kya, kisi bhi college ki ladki mein interested nahi hoon."
Sunaina huffed irritably. "Kyu Sameer, aisi kya problem hai mujh mein. Sundar hoon, Ameer hoon, stylish hoon, tumhare status ki hoon aur tumse pyaar bhi Karti hoon"
Sameer looked at her mockingly and exclaimed, "Tum, aur mujhse pyaar Karti ho. Tum Apne alawa kisi se pyaar nahi kar sakti. Ab jao, ya phir aur insult karwani hai"
Sunaina looked agitated, but she finally went away , rather disappointed.
The moment she was out of sight, Munna turned to Sameer and said, " Bhai kya ladki hai yeh, ek dum pagal. Maanti hi nahi hai. Kaise chipak Rahi thi tujhse bhai. Kamaal hai. Tu kaise karta hai ye sab. Wo itne chhote kapde pehenke tujhse chipak Rahi thi, Lekin phir bhi tu control mein tha"
" Abe Munna, main na Badal Gaya hoon. Ab yeh faltu mein ladkiyo ke saath involve nahi hota. Ab mujhe Nanu ka Naam roshan karna hai. Tu toh jaanta hai na ki us din ke Baad..." He looked uncomfortable, but answered" Dekh dedh saal ho gaye hai. Main sudhar Gaya hoon, Apne nanu ke liye" He finished and his friends beamed at him proudly.
As they began ordering Samosas and Campa Cola, Sameer remembered the fateful day, when he decided to change...
It was afternoon and the Maheshwari Sadan was deserted. Ramdhari was on leave and Nanu was out for some buisness meeting.
Sameer had just entered the house on his bike, and had parked it infront of the house entrance. He got down and went away playing with his bike keys. He opened the front door with duplicate keys he had, and went to his room. He lied down on the bed with a sigh. He was damn exhausted, thanks to the make out session with Diya in the storeroom.
It had been six months since his eighteenth birthday, the day he lost his virginity. From that day, he did not care much about limits or restrictions, while he was with a girl. His thoughts soon started drifting to the cricket match that happened two days back and started thinking about the pathetic balling of his team mate, Rishabh.
He heard the creaking of door and immediately knew that Nanu was back. He sat down, straightened himself and went to Naunu's room. Nanu was sitting on the bed and he looked quite sad. Sameer looked at him and with the expression he saw, he knew Nanu was not fine.
He sat down beside him, but did not speak anything. Neither of them spoke for a while but it was a comfortable silence. Sameer could not take it anymore and finally broke the silence.
"Nanu mujhe pata hai ki aaj Nani ki death anniversary hai aur aapko unki yaad aa rahi hai. Lekin agar aap aise dukhi rahoge toh Nani Ko kaisa lagega. Woh upar se dekh Rahi hai"
Nanu looked at him and smiled affectionately.,
"Kitna bada ho Gaya hai mera Sameer. Kal hi toh paida hua tha. Tujhe pata hai, jab to paida hua tha, tab teri Nani bahut khush thi. Woh tujhse, teri maa se aur mujhse bahut pyaar Karti thi. Main bhi usse bahut pyaar karta tha, woh mera Sab kuch thi, lekin Bhagwan ne use mujhse cheen Liya"
He wiped his tears and continued. " Tujhe pata hai, woh kehti thi ki Sameer pakka humara Naam roshan karega. Mujhe iss baat par koi shaq nahi hai. Dekhna tujhe bhi teri Nani jaisi aurat milegi, jo tere saare dard mita degi and tujhe khud se zyada pyaar karegi, shayad mujhse bhi zyada."
His Nana ji smiled at him and ran his hand through Sameer's hair affectionately.
"Teri maa kehti hai ki tu jhooth bolta hai. Use lagta hai ki tu galat raah par hai. Par maine saaf saaf keh diya, ki mera Sameer sahi raah par hai. Tu mujhse kuch chupa hi nahi Sakta. Tu dikhne mein mazboot hai, par dil se mera Chhota aur saccha Sameer hi toh hai. Mujhe tujhe par poora vishwas hai"
Nanu's words had pierced Sameer's heart. Whatever Nanu said, whatever he meant, shook him hard. That day, Sameer saw the extent of trust that his Nanaji had.
But instead of feeling happy that his Nanu trusted him so much, Sameer felt guilty. His Nanu knew nothing about his playboy behaviour. He didn't know about the number of hearts his grandson broke. He didn't know that Sameer was already on the wrong path.
Nanu knew nothing about all of this, not that Sameer wanted him to know anyway. He went to his room, shut the door behind him and cried uncontrollably. His sobs were filled with guilt. He lied to his Nanu. The man who believed in him when no one else did. The one who stood by him. The one who was always there, no matter what was the problem.
Sameer knew he had to change some day, so why not today. Why wait for the number of heartbreaks to increase? His behaviour did not any good to him, so why to continue it. He did not feel a thing about the girls he had been with and he was not some lusting psycho who could not live without sex. All that happened in those six months, was either alcohol or showoff. He did not "lust" those girls, to be exact.
That day, he decided to change. He gave up alcohol, he stopped being a jerk and he stopped being with girls. He did not date anyone in college and even fought off the advances of stubborn girls ( namely Sunaina). He did not face much problem in doing so since their flirting or charms, hardly had an effect on him.
He mostly concentrated on cricket and even started going to the office to help his Nanu.
Sameer came out of his thoughts, when Munna came with mouth watering samosa, mint chutney and chilled Campa cola. They starting eating and talked about the new year and recent matches.
"Ha yaar, woh India-Pakistan ka match accha tha, lekin Australia wala better tha." Munna commented.
"Abe chenu, match Ko chod aur yeh soch ki padhai kaise karoge. Pichli Baar toh 39% aaye the. Chalo pass toh ho gaye the, par ab kya karenge" Pandit completed and put on a sad expression
"Maine bhi suna tha ki third year bahut tough hoga. Yaar tension ho Rahi hai." Arjun said, voicing his concerns.
"Are mere Ponga, mere veer yoddha Arjun, kar di na tumne wohi wali baat. Shaant ho jao dono. Pichli Baar ki tarah hi aakhir mein padh lenge aur chaaro bhai 40 ya 45 percent le aayenge"
"Munna iss baar pass hone ke liye pehle bhi padhna padega. Agar by chance fail ho gaye na, to tera woh Kali mata wala sapna sach ho jayega. Gharwale bahar nikal denge"
"Ek dum sahi bola Pandit. Aur iss saal toh teri Swati bhi aa rahi hai na, uske liye hi padh le Munna " Sameer teased Munna and Munna blushed hard.
Everyone was well aware that Munna had liked Swati since the 12th grade even though she was two years his junior. She was a chirpy and cheerful young girl, and she was Naina's best friend. It was quiet amusing for Sameer to see Munna trying to flirt with Swati. " He must really like her" he thought since Munna never looked at any other girl in college.
Seeing Munna blush like a Tamato, the three of them laughed while Munna huffed embarrassingly.
"Are ha Swati se yaad aaya, iss saal toh Naina Preeti bhi aayengi" Arjun exclaimed.
"Accha ha kaisi hai dono, bahut dino Baad dikhengi, hai na Munna"
"Theek bola Pandit, school ke baad dikhi hi nahi. Result kaisa aaya unka..."
As Munna and Pandit began interrogating Arjun about Naina, Swati and Preeti's whereabouts, Sameer too listened attentively. He was not at all interested in Preeti or Swati, but the one girl whom he had not seen from such a long time. He remembered their little conversations and small smile crept on his lips, recalling her innocence. "She must be the same", he thought. The same cuteness, same innocence, same stupidity, he chuckled affectionately. He wondered if she will still come with her cute pigtails. Is she still subjected to harsh words? Is she still the same old Naina? Come to think of it, he had not seen her from such long time, forget interacting with her. She might have changed quiet a bit.He even lost the track of her life because he became busy with his own.
Despite all this, he was still looking forward to her arrival and the continuity of their small and cute conversations. "Maybe we could talk longer this time" he mused.
His thoughts were again interrupted when Munna proposed to walk in the corridor, since it was suddenly getting quite humid in here. All could see through his lie and his desperation to see Swati, since Arjun told that the three girls will be arriving around this time. They followed Munna and all three of them had the same knowing smile on their faces.
They reached the corridor and were leaning lazily on the fences, waiting to greet the girls since Munna insisted that it was their duty to welcome Arjun's sisters and her friends to college.
Fifteens minutes had passed, and yet there was no sign of the girls. Sameer looked around and saw Arjun looking at the play ground, not at all desperate to see his sisters. Pandit was busy observing all of them while Munna was jumping out of desperation. Sameer could not blame Munna, he was himself waiting and was equally desperate to see Naina. Also, Munna was in love with Swati, while Sameer had no such feelings. But Sameer could not help, it had been such a long time. Yet, Sameer tried to keep a neutral expression, so that Pandit does not think that something is fishy.
Some more time passed and Sameer lowered his gaze and looked at the interesting patterns of tiles, that his college corridor had. Suddenly the voice of Pandit interrupted his observations.
"Aa gayi teeno, dekho woh rahi"
Sameer quickly lifted his gaze from the ground and saw a young girl coming their way. The moment he saw her, his heartbeat stopped.
The girl was wearing a white floral printed dress, that came down to her knees. The dress had bell sleeves that reached her elbow and a pair of blue teardrop earrings perfected her look. Her hair were open and fell to her waist while a twisted halo complemented her beautiful locks perfectly. Her hairstyle highlighted her beautiful almond shaped hazel eyes. Her face spoke of very light makeup. She was wearing a beautiful silver bracelet and was also carrying a blue bag. Two other girls were with her too and nearly all pair of eyes were looking at the said girl.
Sameer's breathing became ragged and he felt blood rushing through his body. He noticed the girl's dress and since it reached her knees, he could have a good view of her bare legs. The dress was tight fitting and his eyes fell to her perfect curves. His eyes definitely liked those delicious curves, and may be his hands would like them too... His pants had started to feel a little or actually very uncomfortable.
As she came nearer, his gaze went to her breasts and stayed there a little longer than they should have and finally came to her lips. She was wearing lip gloss! God was she planning to kill someone today... His male hormones came to action and told him to grab her and kiss her senseless. But he can't... He should not...
He forcefully diverted his gaze from her and instead looked at the less fascinating and less arousing play ground. No matter how much he tried, he could not calm his nerves. He had never felt this way. He has never lusted after a girl. Girls lusted after him. These feelings of lust, passion, possessiveness were all new to him.
He was cursing his luck for putting him in such a situation. God, he waited for this moment. He waited for the particular moment, when his eyes will actually catch or like the sight of some girl. This moment should have been like a fantasy-come-true.
But, obviously, life has been everything, but fair to him. When he was actually feeling something different in his life, it was due to a completely out-of-his-bounds girl. He again looked at her to cross check, but quickly diverted his eyes, when felt the blood rushing to his nether regions, yet again.
Yes, she was the same girl, yet, he could not believe it. He could not believe that she has grown so much. He could not believe that her hair had grown to reach her waist, and were not in pigtails anymore. God, she has even developed curves! Perfect, round, delicious curves... It can't be her. It can't be her.
It can't be the not-little-anymore Naina Aggarwal...
