Hey Anku,
Superb post yaar, the magic that was YHM 1yr back is sadly missing now. I am watching it just as a loyal fan. Where before i never used to miss any episode and watch all the repeats now I dont feel anything even if I miss episodes.

U written all the valid points and questions...I liked the importance given to both male and female leads initially and not show them as near perfect wife and husband. There was some genuine, realistic feel to the show. And of course the main angst will be opening such good tracks which could have been used to give a message to the society but were handled so poorly.

Wish the Indian shows dont cater so much to the TRPs. They go haywire because of it.

Disclaimer: I am typing from my iPad so there may be abberant typos.
Anku - thank you for taking the time to diligently write out what many of us have been feeling since at least January.

We have been told to watch the show or leave it instead of provide constrictive criticism, but it is hard to quit a show that has so much potential and such powerful acting for the most part.

From Dec 2013 - Sept 2014...the characters may not have been fully real but they were tremendously relatable. Similarly every dialog, scene, and shot used to have depth and meaning during this time. Rarely did things feel forced for the sake of drama. There was balance between the drama and humor, but most importantly there was justified emotional closure for each track.

Now coming to my point about why I haven't quit...it's because the team that produced the episodes from Dec 2013 - Sept 2014 is still the same. That original talent is still there, but due to whatever pressures...we have seen a compromise in the quality of writing and track execution.

Up until the Subbu track - every track had a promising premise but either lost focus or ended horribly. Like how could a get well soon party be a justified ending to a 3 week long track where Raman was drowned in grief? How could a staged child abduction justify the PUBLIC rejection without justification that Ruhi faced during the child swap?

Every time a new track is started - I am excited bc the themes seem to be really important but then is it too much to ask for proper emotional justification at the end of the track?

Similarly - this show claims to be a mature show that touches on issues people are reluctant to talk about per the IF description.

However among MANY things I could list, we have seen a woman brush off a molestation attempt and we have see child suicide be brought up just so the child swap track could progress...how is that mature or addressing social issues? It makes a mockery of them in my opinion, which is a disappointment.

With such a powerful cast...why are side tracks like Mihir-Mihika-Rinki turned into a brushed off? There is so much potential with the side character stories but since the time slot change, none of them have been given focus. The ensemble cast of this show is the best I've seen but of late it appears none of the other characters have substance to them anymore.

Similarly, outside of Ishita & Raman's relationship...most of the relations on the show have lost their depth to some degree. YHM was neon for focusing on the small nuances of a relationship - whether it be that of a brother & his siblings or two rivals driven by ego. Now we do not see much exploration of these things.

Despite all this - YHM still has so much novel story to tell. Just a few examples...

Adi's full acceptance of Raman seemed rushed given the fact he was brought up to think his dad abandoned him - why isn't this aspect focused on?

Right now we are seeing intimacy being driven under the name of baby-making...will these tracks be two separate entities or are we to accept intimacy should only be for the sake of procreation?

For Ishita's pregnancy track - does the report now rule out going the medical route for Ishita's pregnancy? That truthfully could be ground breaking for desi TV to show the emotional struggles of a couple trying to become pregnant.

Toshiji has been allowed to spew "ghar ka chirag" & forcing her daughter's into marriage...will we ever see her introspect or a character help her introspect on the nature of her behavior?

There are just so many amazing topics this show could cover should they choose to present a balanced and mature show like before. But right now it appears that we get either happy episodes with humor and romance or dramatic episodes with uncharacteristic behaviors from characters.

I understand this quality of writing is getting TRPs, but have they ever considered that their old, mature quality of writing could gain TRPs also?

I hope this doesn't come off as ranting bc I am really tired of ranting. It's just this show was so ground breaking & refreshing to me as a Indian based in the states that I couldn't help but get addicted. This show rivaled quality American TV in its early days, and even though it maybe futile to hope for a change...deep down a part of me still does.

This was much longer than I anticipated it being...but thank you for this space, Anku! 😳

Wow👏, excellent read and completely agree with everything.

As a viewer since the beginning, I feel disheartened when every track you have high expectation on end abruptly or made a mockery of.

The emotional connect I use to have with Ishita or Ramans plight is somehow lost simply because I am not feeling the transition from one scene or track to another.

Thanks for writing this, maybe it will help😊

Brilliant post Anku 👏
u have covered all the points that we had complaints with.
I truly hope the cvs read this n take some action. 😳
All I can add is I'm still watching this show only for Ishraru n the rest of the cast. Sorry to say this but some of the new actors are only bringing the level down I feel 😕 Sorry I do not mean to hurt anyone but I feel by focusing so much on them they'd rather focus on the char who are really good. So many impending tracks then why introduce new ones?
Anyways I hope they get to see what we think. 😛

Beautiful post that outlines loyal viewers feelings! I too have watched this show since day 1 and it has become part of my daily routine..I have tried to remain positive with the time change but unfortunately the drastic change in characters and the essence of the show I fell in love with leaves me heartbroken.

However, I am still keeping the faith that the CVs can resurrect this show to what it was (maybe not completely but salvage it somehow and bring some of its former glory back) As you said there are so many issues /tracks close to reality that can be shown.

The ensemble cast and Divan as the soul of IshRa keeps me hooked.

Will add more later but thank you for this post and truly hope the powers that be read it and pay heed to it!!!

Hey Anku...You finally did it...
Firstly congratulations on your first topic...You should really start more and I remember you promising an OS too...We are all waiting...😊

You really covered all the important points that we discuss daily.. & You don't need me praising your comprehensive skills,right...😉

For me the first nail in the coffin started with the conclusion of Mani track...Unlike most of the forum I really loved that track...As you mentioned they have highlighted Raman's insecurities really well...How easy it is to assume things when you are scarred for life...
But where they failed is making Ishita realize & understand those things...
or supposedly if she did (because she refused kalakand & had ladoo) making it so insignificant and trivial...

& then the maritial rape thing...Kudos to the Cvs to bring that up...Sometimes sad reality of marriage...
They didn't butcher Raman for me there...somewhere I understood where he was coming from ...but the way they handled it ...they butchered Raman & Ishita for me...
Raman for not apolozing, Ishita for accepting the status cue without any say...

I don't want to highlight anything more because it would be rephrasing of your post but my only request these days is don't conclude the tracks in a comical way diluting all the intensity which is built till then...
I enjoy comedy like any other person but when it comes to resolving issues I would love to have them talk ...

Hey Anu (hope I can call you that) 😊 haven't forgotten the OS. When I am in the right frame to do so, will definitely start writing again.

Yes the first most disappointing conclusion to the track was Mani's track. Ishita had been a tad callous there and could have been shown having a realization of the raw emotions Raman underwent and could have done something about it. Rather they wronged Raman at the end of that track by making him go drunk and have an outburst on her, even worsening it by ending it comically rather than talking about it. Not that I do not understand why he behaved the way he did, but they treated the scenes post that one pathetically.

The marital rape I mentioned was Ashok and Mihika which was treated callously according to me.

My biggest issue with the creatives it. Stop promising us such big tracks by hyping them and giving nothing meaningful in the end. Either don't promise and if you're laying base for something deep, then go about it the same way.
