Part 17D
Pyar Hi Pyar Kiya
Saturday 6 September
Desert Luxury Hotel, Jaisalmer
9.00pm
Ishita looked adoringly at her sleeping husband. They had both fallen asleep after their passionate dalliance, and she had awoken in his arms, blushing at her dishevelled state, and marvelling at the tenderness with which he held her, even in his sleep.
She thought back on their lovemaking, as she pulled up the discarded bedcovers to cover them. She had never thought, never imagined, that love could be like this. The passion between them had been fiery, yet he had been so tender, so gentle towards her. He had taken the lead, reassuring her, soothing her, encouraging her, holding back while he took them together into ecstasy. Their love for each other had transcended everything - her fear of the unknown; their initial misunderstandings and fights; the circumstances in which they came together; their past relationships and wounds; the secrecy of their wedding; the awkwardness of their first time together.
There's something I wanna tell you now
And I don't know what it is
I just can't I just can't I just can't
You've done some kinda magic
That magic is called love, check it
Magic is called love
She raised her head and looked at him, contentment etched in his sleeping face, and thought she would burst with love for him. Slowly, and softly, she stroked his forehead, her eyes shining with all the love in the world. Her Chooda jangled as she caressed him and she held them tightly, not wanting to disturb him.
"Thank you Raman" she whispered.
He stirred beneath her and his hand grasped hers, his eyes slowly opening. "Kyun" he asked her, passion dancing in his eyes as he drank in the sight of his wife, her make up smudged, her lips swollen, her hair tumbling down her back.
He reached out his hand and traced her smudged bindi, his fingers trailing down to her kohl smudged eyes.
Uski chudiyon ki khanak
Uski woh bindiya ki chamak
Haye kajre ki gajab dhaar ne
Sone na diya
She blushed and fell back into his arms, as he feasted his eyes on her.
"For everything" she whispered, nestling her face into his chest, her fingers caressing him softly. "For making everything so special"
"Hmmm" he replied. " I've done everything for you, lekin tum toh waada bhul gayi" {But you've forgotten your promise}
He sat up, his hands creeping under the sheet as he leaned over her.
"Kaun sa waada?" she asked, blushing furiously as he looked intently at her. {What promise?}
"Wahi, ki tum Mujhe mera naam dhundne dogi." {you were going to let me find my name}
"Payaa nahi aapne?" she asked coyly, as he pulled the sheet away, his hungry eyes again devouring her. {Haven't you found it yet?}
She smiled then whimpered softly as he ran his fingers gently down her torso to her waist. His hand stopped at her kamarbandh, the wide band of gold and dangling diamantes the only barrier between them.
"Ye reh gaya tha na, bas yahan hi nahi dekha" he told her, toying with the jewels. {This was in the way. This is the only place I haven't looked}
He bent his head and kissed her waist, his hands fumbling with the clasp to the kamarbandh.
"Raman, kya kar rahe ho?" Ishita said shyly, trying to move away. He held her down tightly, one hand busy with the clasp, the other pinning her underneath him. "Shhh" he whispered. "Just let me baby"
The clasp gave way and he pushed the jewels away, her waist bare to his eyes.
"Toh yahan chupa tha" his voice was thick with passion, as he stared intently at the mehendi letters on her waist. {So this is where you hid it}
"R" he whispered, his face nuzzling her waist, as he kissed the outline of the letter softly. She gasped and dug her fingers into his hair, the sensuality of his touch sending a fresh wave of desire coursing through her.
"A" he went on, another kiss, this time lingering.
"M" his tongue traced the outline of that letter, as she whimpered again, her hands holding onto his shoulders, her eyes closed, her breath quickening. He looked up at her, his eyes darkening with passion as he ran his fingers over her waist, his caresses trailing down as her breathing grew more ragged and she squirmed under him.
Uski angadayi ne
Kya kya na qayamat dhai
Dhadkanon ki badi raftar ne
Sone na diya
"Raman, please" she whispered, biting her lips at the sensations he evoked at her, the ache that was building up in her again.
"A" he tried to continue, but Ishita could take his sweet torture no longer. She pulled his head up, wrapping her arms around him.
"Always impatient, meri Jhansi ki Rani" he mock complained as he lowered himself back on her, punishing her lips with his as his arms crushed her to him. "You didn't even let me finish reading"
"Baad mein" she gasped, holding him close, inhaling his scent, desperately searching for his lips. "Puri raat hai" {Later, we have all night}
"Puri raat" he repeated, sealing her lips with his. {All night}
Then speech became impossible, their tongues duelling as their lips fused, their bodies entangled, their sighs and moans the only sounds as Mr & Mrs Bhalla made love the whole night through.
There's something I wanna tell you now
And I don't know what it is
I just can't I just can't I just can't
You've done some kinda magic
That magic is called love, check it

Sunday 7 September
New Delhi
12 noon
"Why didn't you let Mihir pick us up Raman?" Ishita sat snuggled in her husbands arms in the back of a speeding limousine.
They were on their way from the airport to a resort just outside Delhi, where Mihir, Rinki and Ruhi waited for them. Their morning had been spent leisurely, waking up late in each other's arms, and then breakfasting together before making their way to the airport
"I wanted you to myself, just a little bit longer" he replied, tightening his arms around her as she put her head on his shoulder, her fingers playing with the lapel of his shirt.
"What will we do Raman" she whispered, her eyes clouding at the thought of her imminent separation from him. They lived just metres away, but it may well have been a continent, for the distance between them would be just as immense, once they were back in the bosoms of their warring families. And while she had suffered through that distance for the past two weeks she did not think she could do it any longer. Not know. Not after last night.
"It will be all right jaan. Trust me" he said reassuringly, dropping a kiss on her quivering lips. "Ruhi's social welfare assessment is on Wednesday, then we have a case conference with the Family Court Judge on Friday. If the social workers report is good in our favour, the court will encourage Shagun to settle. In any event, after Friday, we can start to work on getting our families together."
"But Raman, your mum hates me" Ishita wailed. "How long will all this take?"
"Kyun" he smiled at her. "Mujhse dur nahi reh sakti ab kya?" {why? Can't you stay away from me now?}
"No" she sniffed. "Nahi reh sakti" {No, I can't}
"Then don't waste time now" he whispered, kissing her softly. "Love me now"

Sun n Sand Resort
Outskirts of Delhi
4.00pm
Ishita sat with Ruhi in her lap, listening to the little girls chatter. Raman and she had arrived at the resort to find Ruhi with her chachu and bua, eagerly awaiting her parents.
She had thrown herself into her mothers arms and from then on had refused to leave her side. They had lunched in the Resort's Bistro, had played together in the children's playground, taken a golf buggy to tour the resort and now were finally resting on the lawn in the gardens. Rinki sat with them on the lawn, while Raman and Mihir were walking together a little distance away.
"And then Ishima, Simi bua wanted to come too. Toh Mihir chachu ne kaha ki uske koi aur friends bhi aa rahe hai, aur sirf two spaces hai car mein. Aur phir hum aa gaye" {Simmi bua wanted to come too. So Mihir chachu said we were picking up his friends and there were only 2 places. And then we came}
"Ruhi, you know it's wrong to tell lies na" Ishita said guiltily, concerned about the effect of this subterfuge on her daughter. " Aap Simi bua ke liye yahan se cake lekar jaana. Does she like chocolate cake?"
"So is it okay to tell lies if we buy a present afterwards Ishima" Ruhi asked innocently as Rinki choked back a giggle.
"No, beta, that's not okay either."Ishita sighed.
"Ishima, mujhe bhi cake khana hai" Ruhi had been diverted by the thought of cake.
"No beta, you already had ice -cream. Teeth mein cavity ho jayegi. Acha woh dekho, papa aa gaye" {You'll get cavities. Look papa is here}
Indeed, Raman and Mihir were walking towards them, and Ishita blushed as she watched her husband, remembering the previous night, the smile on his face reflecting the happiness in her heart.
"Bhabhi" Rinki said in the brief silence. "Aap ke chehre se lagta hai ki kal sab kuch bahoot acha guzra"
Ishita blushed even harder but was saved from answering as Raman and Mihir reached them.
"Ruhi, come to papa" Raman sat as he sat down beside Ishita.
"No, mein aap se naraaz hoon." {No, I'm angry with you}
"Why beta?"
"Aap theh nahin kal, and I missed you" {You weren't here yesterday and I missed you}
"Toh beta, aap papa se aur bhi naraaz hone wali ho, kyunki mujhe Mihir chachu ke saath Mumbai jaana hai." {You're going to get angrier then beta, because I have to go with Mihir chachu to Mumbai}
"Raman" Ishita interrupted. "Kab jaa rahe ho aap?" {Raman, when are you going?}
"Tomorrow yaar, that's what Mihir and I were talking about. Something's come up, we have to go tomorrow." He noted the concern in her eyes and smiled reassuringly.
"But Raman, woh social workers..."
"That's on Wednesday. I'll be back by then. Dont worry." He turned to Ruhi "beta, papa will be back soon. Lekin tumko Ishima ka khayal rakhna hai, while I'm gone, theek hai" {You have to look after Ishima while I'm gone}
He glanced at Ishita, the sheen of tears visible in her eyes.
"Hey madrassan it's only for two days. And Ruhi will look after you, kyun Ruhi"
Ruhi looked at her papa and her Ishima, and threw her arms around both.
"Huggie" she cried, drawing them both close. "Don't worry papa, mein hoon Ishima ke saath."
{Don't worry papa, I'm with Ishima}

Outside Mihir's apartment
6. 30 pm
Mihir had dropped Ishita and Raman at his apartment to collect their cars, and had then taken Ruhi and Rinki back with him to Aakash Ganga Society.
Raman held Ishita in his arms as they sat together in Mihir's apartment.
"Hey biwi" he whispered. "It's only for two days, I'll be back soon, aise ro kyun rahi ho yaar?"
{why are you crying like this yaar}
"I don't know" Ishita sobbed into his shirtfront. "Ab aap se dur nahi reh sakti" {I can't stay away from you now}
"Just a little while longer baby" he told her, rubbing her back, touched by her unwillingness to part from him. "Everything will be ok soon. We will have Ruhi's custody and we will be together."
"Promise, Raman?" She raised her wet eyes to him.
"Ruhi promise" he replied, wiping her tears, before claiming her lips. " I can't stay away from you either now Ishita"
Tu tu hai wahi
Dil ne jisse apna kaha
Tu hai jahan mein hoon wahan
Ab toh yeh jeena tere bin hai sazaa
Ho mil jaaye is tarah
Do lehren jis tarah
Phir hona judaa
Haan yeh waada raha
