It's a beautiful scene where a wife steps in and coddled her hubby as she knows how he must be blaming himself and helps him through his emotions. It was such an emotional scene...she just gave him what he needed...a tender touch, some words of comfort, her shoulder to lay his head on and the caress of her soothing voice...and unequivocal support. So far we've seen Raman internalize his emotions to the point of saturation and that's when they come out. This is the first time really, you see both Raman and Ishita having an emotional conversation as drama is going on. Hopefully there will be a day in the future where we can see Raman comfort Ishita.
Today's scene was a stark contrast of how Ishita comforted Raman when he told the truth about the accident track. Now I think a scene needs to be brought that contrasts how Raman comforted Ishita during the licence track reveal. In both of the scenes, the comforter (😆) maintained a distance, but now they have nothing keeping them from closing the gap! ❤️

To say I was touched by the tenderness of the scene would not express how moved I was by that scene. KP and DT are great emotional actors and they just raised the emotional quotient of the scene to make it transcend the medium and pull at our heart strings. Minus 3 people on this show, I feel like the entire cast has so much potential and diversity! I can't wait for spend future tracks that allow other characters to also shine.

This is a very favorite song of mine...the scene reminded me of this song
I love this song! It's so perfect for Puttar & Biwi today! ❤️

Notes
  • Loved...RKB in Jagga jasoos mode 😛 RKB's Jagga Jasoos mode only comes out in response to a situation, and he's currently owning it! Now after he deals with ish his way, it's Mrs. JKR's turn to activate her Jagga Jasoosi to learn about what's troubling her poor devar.
  • It's a shame that the #1 villain, Ashok has become an afterthought in the CV's mind...such a wastage of talent. I really felt bad for Sangram today. I agree! They have made his appearance much better since his "marriage" with Mihika but they turned his character into a joker. After Suraj's comments in yesterday's episode, I'm hoping they bring the Khanna brothers back into focus & maybe show some internal struggles between the duo! 😆

...

Loved Mr. and Mrs. Iyer scene..again such beautiful actors. Loved it when amma said " Vishwa maine aaj tak kabhi tumhare sar jhookathe hue nahi dekha..abhi bhhi nahi dekhoongi.." Beautiful.. The pride and trust she has in her husband was so beautifully conveyed in that sentence. Again great actors I agree! I'm happy they showed both the Ishita-Raman & Appa-Amma scene together because it reminds me of the day when Appa started working at Raman's office, and Raman said that he hopes he & Ishita can be like that in the future.

I hope that they find a track in the future to show the emotional depth in the senior Bhallas relationship also!

Romi.. at last the gears kicked in and he realized that he has been made a bakra by Shagun. His actions the past couple of days is not right but sometimes people, when they feel that the world is closing in on them, do clutch at straws and do not pay attention to who is offering them. He knew Shagun was not trust-worthy but for some reason his fertility issues kind of overwhelmed him and he trusted a snake. And that decision has come to bite him .. bad. Acting wise he too was very good today.. Desperation makes people do stupid things.

Amid all these amazing actors stands Shagun. Such a lost cause. There is absolutely nothing between her ears and I still am not sure if that is what the character has to portray or ... Enough said. No praise for the til-wali today? haha, jk. But you're bang on about her character & "depth" of expressed emotions. It's like the CVs have reduced the character's depth to match the emotional range given by the actor. I like Anita and have seen some of her other work, so I'm not sure why she's coming out so flat here...

One thing I did not like was the statement made by the big boss about Ishita.. bhabhi is the sensible Bhalla .. or something like that.. that could have been avoided. I think sometimes they overdo with the praises.. it used to be yashoda maiyya for sometime. In this case, it was totally unwarranted because she had nothing to do with any of it .. at all. Anyways...I agree! This is such a "prime time daily soap move" - always throw in comments to elevate the female lead. Once in a while, it's fine, but I think at this point - everyone gets what a blessing Ishita is for the Bhallas. By constantly remind us, it's reaching beyond a saturation point. If they want to throw in lead praise, why not send some Raman's way? Better yet, just stop it for a bit and reintroduce it when it actually seems appropriate. Real relationships that go the distance don't rely and constantly harp on how good one person is. #DesiShowProbs

haha.. do hafthon se thats all I am doing yaar.. til bharke pyar for til-wali. 😆 So thought I would give it a break.. didn't want all this praise from me to go to her head!!! 😆😆
But jokes apart, I would like to see her work too. what other shows has she been in? Any pointers?

I agree about the female lead praise. In today's episode for example, Ishita had nothing to do but run to Raman.. It was Raman who made the decision to quit and force the boss to listen to him. I guess cvs take the saying "behind every successful man ..." a bit too much to heart and think that glorification of the female lead is kind of glorifying all women in general. (am not sure if I made sense, but..)
I find that .. overdoing it actually can have a negative impact..(many a time on the actor themselves) more because people tend to associate the character with the actor, and nobody wants to see goody-two-shoes all the time..

Loved the collage. I have always been a silent admirer of your collages and updates. But todays episode was very emotional between the leads and they rocked the scene, As many said the praise of Ishita as the sensible bhalla was unwarranted but it might have been because her appa was humiliated and accused by the boss inspite of Raman requesting him not to. If she were to hold grudge against the insult maybe the boss thinks Raman might not come back..just a thought,

This man who rejected his own mother and sister and was adopted into the Bhalla family finally began imagining a future with Mihika and adopted her family as his and after this break up, he lost a certain right on them too. Beautiful, subtle tremendous point - handled so very craftily by the CVs and RSA... very impressive.

I didn't know if anyone else had caught that moment, but it made me want to jump into the TV screen and hug Mihir. Outside of Ishita-Raman-Ruhi, he is my favorite character, so his entire story has always pulled at the heart strings. Mihir has always been shown as level-headed and thoughtful (except during the Sanjana-Shagun reveal, but even there he was in line). In one sense, he is much like Ishita. Prior to her arrival in Raman's life, he was the only yin to Raman's yang. ☯️

Despite the hurt he received from Mihika, he does not blame any of the Iyers. In terms of relationships, he's just Raman, who despite Shagun's betrayal, kept his relationship with Mihir as strong, if not stronger, than before. Both of these men didn't blame the families of those who betrayed them, and that speaks volumes of their caliber.

I just want Mihir to get his share of happiness. He's suffered too much thanks to the women in his life.

In terms of the praise - I agree! I can understand why they show the praise, but it was given so often during the guilt track and the early part of this track that we just need a 'lil break!

About the negative impact on the actor itself - I'm always amazed at how invested people get with the characters that they sometimes blur the lines between the actor and character. It speaks testaments to the popularity and impact of the show, but from my POV, it can be a little bit unsettling!

She was the lead in Kavyanjali, which I used to watch on & off! I don't remember how varied her acting was in it, but it was a cute show. She was also in a handful of Ekta's movies. I really want to see her Valentine's Day episode of Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya with Harshad Chopra. It looks like a cute take on Devas! Plus, it'll be refreshing to see AH in a positive role after all this mumbo-jumbo.

--- EDIT---

G! That collage... *sigh* seriously what a moment huh? What an poignant and marked moment for this couple that has come so far form where they began. From him deliberately provoking her sadness at the adoption loss news to her wiping away his tears today- it has truly been an amazing journey.

I loved your description of the moment, of the kind of man he is and how wonderful it is to have finally found a partner who will so easily share his burdens and even remove the self imagined ones he puts unto his already heavy load. I loved the entire scene.. the way she wrapped him in her embrace and laid his head on his shoulders in an almost motherly hold and most especially the way she wiped away his tears. Very reminiscent of the way he comforted her after her attack. And in both instances as much as the words matter , the gestures say more. DT&KP truly got to the essence of this amazing couple today and deserve a lot of accolades for such a flawless performance.

Another thing that struck me about the the scene was Raman's 'you trust me right?' Trust is the core of every relationship and both of them have had their trust broken very bitterly by their previous partners. And Raman especially always seems to want a reassurance of her trust in him. The question itself implies that he knows that he has her trust, he just needs the confirmation. For him whether the matter is big (like this) or small (like the photo shoot) he needs a verbal assurance of her trust.. almost like it's a reconfirmation of her love for him. To love someone is, to a certain extent, to trust them unequivocally and RKB seeks this assurance of fact from his wife before setting out to do right for their family. But The fact that even having no doubt of her love (I think it's a given now) he needs repeated verbal assurance of her trust speaks highly to the level of hurt his heart has endured and the depth of the scars of his past.

I also adored the comparison scenes between the Iyers and ISHRA as both couples shared and looked for comfort in each other. The way that Madhu talked about 'our Raman' was also very beautiful... again drawing to the tightness of the relationship between them and going back to her claim that they had gained a son in the ISHRA marriage.

To the same point it was very bittersweet to hear Mihir speak of appah. He said 'periappah.. I mean Iyer uncle'. That says so much non? Made me feel for him more then any cries of pain and loss might ave because it showed very subtlety that Mihir lost not only Mihika but his periappah and periammah as well.

As for Romi and his circumstances, as much as I want to say 'you got what you deserve' I feel really bad for him. The desperation , loneliness and fear of his circumstance led him to make a very wrong and selfish choice. But that doesn't negate his pain... i hope the CVs handle it with the sensitivity it deserves. I for one am quite curious as to see how they handle the issue of a man who can no longer do the thing that defines him as such in much of the world- procreate. Will the Cvs be able to give us a balanced juxtaposition of male and female infertility I wonder? Can they attack that issue with the same seriousness and gentleness as they have Ishita's stance without resorting to cheap, overdone jokes or old fashioned ideas about GKC and deal with redefining the 'real man' as much as they have the 'real mother.' Will this, can this, be the turning point for Romi Bhalla? I sincerely hope so.

#2 regular episodes until ISHRAnniversary ...and all I want is for ISHRA to forget about the celebrations being planned by their families and create their own private moment of celebration.

My iPad is acting up.. So can't hightlight ... Loved your ' you trust me? ' paragraph a lot! I love how you always you bring out these nuances in a scene and put a much deeper meaning to it that I initially feel after my watch. Thank you for that.

I also loved that slip of Mihir about 'periappa' then correcting to Iyer uncle... Moving on is not an easy job especially for someone who loves as deeply as Mihir does... And unfortunately when a couple breaks their ties it mandates somehow a change in all the other relationship around them... And for someone like Mihir who had embraced Mihika's family as his own too.. The job becomes harder. I truly hope he gets someone who can heal his broken heart.

I hope your wishes about Cvs treating Romi's impotency as delicately as Ishita's infertility , comes true... Though I hardly doubt as the Cvs have shifted their focus about the supporting characters in a way.. They use them/ misuse( mihika's dumbification to facilitate Shagun's entry in BH) them at will for dramatic effect these days .

Good post as always Anu
