So here is my thought on this entire non-issue

1) Why as a society we think apology is a sign of weakness, irrespective of the gender? Major conflicts have been averted because diplomacy has been used where two parties sit and apologize to each other rather going to war. So why do we view apology as a sign of weakness.

2) But since we do equate apology = weakness, why do we freak out when the male gender apologizes? Why men aren't supposed to be weak? They must alway be strong and live in a false sense of bravado. You know I have little nephews and nieces and I treat them equally, no on in my house is allowed to say, 'don't cry like a girl' 'don't throw the ball like a girl', 'you run like a girl'

What does crying like a girl entail anyways? I am proud that my parents have brought my sister and I up with a sense of pride and self belief that we can achieve anything in this world. Unfortunately as a society we are failing our men. We expect them to behave in false bravado, any sign of emotions and we call them 'sissy', 'that dude cries like a girl', we make our men emotionally unavailable and halt their growth.

MEN are human beings, they have feelings, they are allowed to cry, allowed to make mistakes, allowed to apologize and allowed to be human for Christ sake.

CRYING, APOLOGIZING, BEING EMOTIONAL, AND BEING CONSIDERATE ARE NOT FEMININE, IT'S JUST BEING HUMAN!

Regarding puttar when he apologized my respect for him grew even more because he did this to protect his family, and I would do the same to protect mine.
May be if we stop fighting the gender battles and focus on some real shit like making men feel emotionally secure then may be rape and molestation rates will go down.

Here is the DOVE campaign aimed at MEN who CARE, bringing out the softer emotional side of their gender. Their logo is: Care makes men STRONGER.

This is the Always campaign where they ask young girls and then women what it means to, 'run like a girl', 'throw like a girl'. The results will startle you when you watch it because you will see young girls are confident but the society brainwashes us into believing that 'like a girl' is weak, it's heartbreaking.

I am sorry for the rant but I get really disturbed by such behavior. Thanks for hearing me out.

That is a wonderful post Doc!! Brilliantly written! You know- it reminds me- I have actually been made fun of for being the fan of remarkable sports person for no other reason than- "He cries like a girl when he wins". When a woman can shed tears of happiness/sadness; why can't men? And vice versa for many such things. Are we not supposed to have "Gender equality" in everything? And you are not alone, all of us get worked up sometimes due to some reason or the other- even if that trigger is a fictitious show.

Since we are on this topic, did guys watch President Obama make an apprerance during Grammys and address the music industry and the American people about domestic abuse and treatment of women.

I didn't watch Obama's PSA, but I got the gist of it from some friends.

It's appalling to me that no matter how developed of a country you live in, the mistreatment of women is so rampant.

I admit to believing in certain gender roles and such, but when it comes to the treatment of girls/women, I get pretty riled up. I just don't understand how as a society we perceive an entire sex to be weaker or "not as useful." It's sickening.

Most Indian traditions even those with gender roles, I understand and follow, but the one that I have never been able to digest is that it is "improper" for a daughter to take care of her parents. Why should parents have to worry who will take care of them if they just have daughters?

Watching Saturday & today's episodes, I felt proud of the Iyers because they empowered their daughters and claimed "ownership" of their son-in-laws. That's nayi soch.

It's funny you mention athletes because I remember when Kevin Durant made his MVP speech, he choked up talking about his mom and the internet went crazy making fun of him, an ESPN analyist called the speech 'girly' and there was a lot of backlash meanwhile majority of America sat and appreciated Mr. Durant's speech. Such double standards, makes my blood boil.
Here is his speech, it's so sweet, starts around 2:55

He first helped appa in a way he wouldn't feel insulted n today stood up for him like a true son 👏
#iloveputtar 😳

I also felt it was required that he resign since the MD did not even talk to Raman but got in the police to his house, knowing fully well that Iyer was his father-in-law. So obviously he had to be firm and tell his boss he did not like him interrupting a family function in this humiliating manner!

Krishy don't even get me started on the gender inequality in America, the fact that in 2015 a woman makes 70 cents to a man making a dollar for the very same job, the fact that my reproductive health is topic of debate, the fact tat birth control is a topic of debate, abuse that is rampant in our society and the disparity in research for diseases affecting men and women is appalling.
Go ask a random person what are they symptoms of a heart attack, (MI) and they will rattle off all the male symptoms, there is gender inequality in healthcare and sadly there is not much being done about it.

But his own blood will let him down, wonder how he will face his boss after he gets to know Romi has done it. What about the police then? Toshiji has always let Romi get away with nearly anything as a result he too has become a good for nothing criminal always doing some kaand or the other. Instaed of confiding in Ishita who is a doctor he preferred to trust Shagun, gave away the cash without any receipt. How stupid can one get?😡

It is seriously Mind-boggling how people have got this stupid idea in their head about men and emotions. This same scenario has occurred multiple times with Federer too- cause he always gets emotional while thanking his fans, his wife and kids! Makes no sense why people find this funny really.
