Spoilers ahead - related to recent OLV's
I am not going to lament over the portrayal of Men in this serial coz anyways TV is a medium for portraying Women as protagonists and also celebrating womanhood in general. On one hand we have seen a lot of good things about this serial like Mother daughter relationship, a woman caring for in laws for her husband etc. I will not go into that coz Positivity is always welcome.
But I am irked with the portrayal of serious issues related to women.
Mihika marrying (dunno fake or not) her Molestor/ Sexual abuser- Even though its fiction - this thought strengthens the Social notion that Only Women pay a price for such issues. Y is she shown as agreeing to Ashok's plans even if it is Fake marriage? Shogun cud have been dumped by Ashok by just saying I don't want to marry u. š Rather they could have shown Goodness winning over Evil by making her marry Mihir?
Ishita a dentist acting like a maid to Shagun- Does this woman deserve such empathy? Can they not show Adi feeding and taking care of Shagun (it wud actually make sense too that Son is taking care of mom). Should a woman be made to bear all this in guise of goodness, Humanity etc? What about standing up for what is right, SHagun abused her parents and called them gold diggers and yet this woman is taking care of her. I am ok with Ishra asking Shagun to stay at their place if they have nowhere to go but acting like a maid to SHagun is really not required! Cant Ishita set up some ground rules for SHagun and not get played at her hands? Is Ishita so dumb that Shagun can play intelligent games n Ishita will fall for it. This is the same Ishita who fought for her license, who got 98.5% in her Dentistry exam etc.
Can we at least keep intact the sanctity of words such as "DEVI" that Ishita is called and not make her a maid for DRAMA. š Can Mihika for once use her brains (she holds a Management degree )and involve her family in problems.
