CHAPTER NINE

He then looked at her and she still had would not stop crying. He put his hand across her face almost holding the nape of her neck as he kissed the tears that were running down her cheeks. He kissed her left cheek, then her right, then her left again before he felt her sniff and chuckle almost as if she was laughing.

He turned to look at her and she had this expression on her face as if wondering what the hell he was he doing. He then kissed her cheeks again before he chuckled to saying

'Well continue crying and I will continue kissing your tears away. Quite frankly I am enjoying it''

She looked at him and instead started crying again as she finally threw herself in his arms. For some reason whatever fear she had had disappeared almost as if with every kiss he gave her all the insecurities diminished one by one. They stayed in each other's embrace forgetting that there was a world outside theirs, forgetting they were in a room full of people.

Mr. Iyer stood in the room and watched his daughter almost have a 360 change in her attitude; it was almost as if Raman had the power of bring out the strength in her that he had been trying to do since the accident. He looked at his daughter's glowing face and even though she had tears in her eyes, one would tell she was extremely happy. With tears in his eyes he turned to his wife and said

'You see Maddu, My daughter finally beat her demons today, my daughter is happy.'' But Mrs. Iyer was much too happy to even say a word to him that she just broke down and cried holding her husband as if telling him, finally something good came out of all this.

Mihir looked at his best friend and couldn't have been more proud than in that moment. He never thought that the woman who was ever going to tame the great RBK would ever be Ishita, of all people BUT as they say sometimes the path of destiny is unavoidable. He was still looking at them with tears in his eyes when he felt someone playfully slap him. He turned around and saw Mihika tears rolling down her cheek when she finally said

'Why can't you love me like that?'' she said playfully to which Mihir answered

'Mihika honey, no one can love like that except him. Besides I love you my own amazing way.'' He said as he held her

'Yes you do.'' Said Mihika as she hugged him back

'Wow she is a very lucky girl'' said Sarika

'Yes she is and rightly so because she deserves it.'' Answered Romi

Meanwhile Shagun was vexed; she couldn't believe what was happening in front of her. This was supposed to be the time to get what was rightfully hers but somehow it wasn't going her way. What was Raman's problem was he blind? What kind of spell had Ishita cast on him? Seriously he couldn't possibly be in love with her still after seeing how revolting she looked.

'WHAT THE HELL'' Said Shagun

'I seriously do not understand what just happened.'' Said Shilpa

'Something doesn't add up I do not get it? No! He is just being nice and being a gentleman that is why he is acting like that. He doesn't want her to feel embarrassed so he felt sorry for her that is why he did that, that is why he kissed her like that.'' Said a delusional Shagun

'I do not know Shagun, it seemed so real to me.'' Said Shilpa as they both looked at the couple in the middle of the room still hugging

'Shut the hell up! Nobody asked for your opinion.'' Said an angry Shagun

The guests in the room where in awe of what was unfolding before their eyes, whatever was happening would only be told in movies. These two shared a love so strong and a bond so deep that every woman would want to have and every mother would tell their daughters about. It was simply magical, a fairytale kind of love.

Raman and Ishita were still in their own world holding each other like if they let go the other would break. Ishita comfortably laid her head just above his shoulder as Raman rested his head in the nape of her neck taking in the feel of her skin while in turn Ishita took in the feel of his breath on her skin. They melted into each other as the noise in the room disappeared engaging into the perfect hug.

Raman opened his eyes as he suddenly became aware of his surroundings and slowly pulled away from her embrace. He looked at her as he slowly removed the hair that was falling in here face and asked

'Are you okay?'' he asked

'Yeah I am. I just want to leave.'' She whispered

'Okay just give me a minute and then we'll go anywhere you want.'' He said as Ishita tried to get up

'Oh hey wait. Don't go anywhere or move a muscle I will be back.'' Said Raman as he placed a kiss on her forehead then he got up and walked away.

Ishita stayed sitting on the floor looking down because her subconscious was telling her that people were staring at her with disgust but she was wrong. Everyone was coveting of the man she had managed to score. Raman walked to where Mihir was and said

'No camera or phone leaves this room. And nobody goes until I found out who the hell did this are we clear. They will be so sorry''

'Yeah bro I got it. No worries go do your thing.'' Said Mihir

He then turned and looked at the Iyers almost as if wanting to apologies for what just happened but he got an affirmative nod from Mr. Iyer almost as if to say, it was okay and he understood.

He then walked over to where Ishita was and lifted her from the floor and like that he carried her out of the room. Ishita just comfortably adjusted herself in his arms because she knew if she tried to reject she wouldn't win in that battle. She slowly put her hand around the nape of his neck resting her head on his chest and taking in his muskiness which made her go absolutely senseless.

When they got outside to the parking lot, she turned her head to look at him and said

'Why are you lifting me when I can walk''

'I just felt like it, besides you seemed like you were enjoying it.'' He answered

'What! Okay please put me down right now.'' She answered smilingly as she playfully slapped his chest

'Ha-ha fine...'' He answered as he put her down

'So where do you want to go? Anywhere and I will get you there.'' He added as they sat in the bench on the gardens outside

'I just want to sit here for a while and settle my nerves before I go back in there.'' She said pointing at the entrance of the cafe

'You do not have to go back if you do not want'' he said

'I know but all those guests came here because of me it would be rude for me to leave.'' She said

Ishita noticed Raman had suddenly gone quiet and was looking at her face and her scars with a lot of concentration. She figured she should just let him look at her until it finally sunk in that this is actually how she looked.

'It was an accident. A drunk driver knocked me off the road. It was hard but I went through therapy and finally walked but I couldn't do anything about the scars.'' She said

Raman slowly lifted his hand touching her scars before he finally asked

'Does it hurt?''

'No it doesn't, not physically at least.'' She answered

' How about this one, does it hurt.'' He asked

'WHAT? Of all the scars on my face you noticed that one.'' She said amused because the tiny scar at the back of her neck was the least of her worries.

'Well I like it because every time I kissed it, I could feel your body get tense. You're very sensitive there.'' He said teasingly

'No I am not. I mean...'' she said as she her cheeks turned to the color of burgundy

'Oh you think I am lying, we could test my theory right now.'' He whispered as he came forward and placed soft wet kisses as the back of her neck where the tiny scar was

Ishita felt goose bumps as it felt like her heart was about to burst out of her chest. She slowly drifted her hands through his hair almost as if wanting him to just keep on doing that for a while. She knew they were in an open place and so wanted to acknowledge that but her body wasn't listening at all.

Raman could feel her running her hands through his hair and he continued laying soft wet kissing all over the nape in the back of her neck until he heard her mourn. He chuckled under his breath and he continued but she slowly pulled away from him putting her hand on her lips almost as if surprised with her reaction.

'Told you that's my favorite spot.'' He said teasingly while smiling

'I can't bel...'' She tried to say but couldn't find a defense

'You look absolutely adorable when you blush you know that. It kind of turns me on you know'' he said teasingly as he touched her very crimson lips and scarlet cheeks

'You like to flirt don't you! And tease me. I will find yours as well.'' She said still blushing

'You could do it now...'' He said as he came forward as if to kiss her

'Raman, stop it seriously...'' she said as she playfully pushed him away

'But your just so damn sexy I can't help it'' he said

'I will not be able to compose myself to go back in there if you keep on doing that.'' She added

'Okay okay am sorry.'' he said laughingly

Ishita looked at him as he threw his head back and rubbing his hands through his hair which she had completely messed up and just like that she had tears in her eyes again.

When Raman looked at her, his face turned as if worried that she was still feeling the effects of what happened in there but then a smile suddenly crept up her face and the she began to cry again

'What is wrong? Is it something I said what happened? Please do not cry my heart breaks every time you do ' he said

'No no am not sad, I am just over whelmed with happiness. I am the princess at the end of the movie who gets her prince.'' She said

'What...?'' said a very confused Raman

'You know like that movie where Anushka wants Shah Rukh Khan but ends up alone because Shah Rukh Khan goes with Katrina, I am Katina, I never in a million years thought I will be Katrina.'' Said Ishita to which a very confused Raman answered

'Ishita your babbling stuff right now, you cannot possibly think I understand what you're saying right now. Do you understand what you're saying? Are you okay?''

'Of course I am okay. I am more than okay. Thank you for not making me feel so horrible. I really thought you were going to just leave. I thought you really would just feel disgusted and leave but then you came forward and you stayed. You're here with me and the way you look at me hasn't changed. I do not get it. I am not that worth it.'' She said

'Okay first you are worth it and I love you that is why I am here. Second let us find a language we both can understand when we talk instead of babbling and crying. How about that'' Said Raman as he pulled her in for another hug and kiss

Meanwhile back inside the caf, when Raman carried Ishita out Mihir put his team into motion. Romi and Sarika stood at both entrances and nobody was allowed to leave. Mihir then went in front the room and said

Okay here is how this is going to go. All cameras should be placed in the basket on your left and all phones on your right. There are photos and videos that we need from your phones and also delete footage that doesn't need to de there. Only and only then will you get your phone and cameras back. Anyone who refuses will be handed over to my two friends over there for further interrogation'' said Mihir pointing at the two guards who came in from outside and where standing at the main entrance

'Come on people quit looking at me and do as I say.'' Added Mihir

'No we won't. What nonsense is this? Why will I give you my phone or camera for that matter? That is personal property and you have no right to take that away.'' Said Shagun

'Anyone else share the same view as the Miss'' said Mihir

'Yeah I agree this is not right.'' Said Shilpa

'I do not get what the big deal is besides the poor girl has been through enough for one night and they trying to make sure it stays here, it's the least they could do.'' Said one of the Guests

'Whatever the case, I am not giving in my phone as well.'' Said another guest

'She should have known better than to date a famous guy if she never wanted people to talk about her face.'' Said Shagun

'How can you even say that? Isn't she allowed to be happy just because she is scared? How can you people talk like that?'' said Ishita's grandfather before Mrs. Iyer came forward with her hands folded and said

'Please I am begging you with my hands folded asking you to please do as they say. My daughter hasn't hurt anyone and she is a good girl. She didn't ask to be like this neither did she ask to fall in love with a famous rich man. None of these things are her fault so please do not let her suffer because she had been doing that for a very long time I am begging you please. They will not take you phones or you're personal information. I am sure there are mothers in this room as well just imagine if this was your daughter.'' Said a very tearful Mrs. Iyer

There was a lot of muttering in the room almost as if they were not in agreement until one of them asked

'Why do you want our phones any way I mean what exactly are you going to do with them.'' Asked one of the guests

'Like is he said we need footage and also no photo of Ishita is leaving this room and ending up in the media.'' Said Romi

'Also we need to find the person who switched off the lights and grabbed her veil one of you could have recorded it unknowingly.'' Said Mihir

'Then what will you do with that person.'' Asked one of the guests

'Well that is for Mr. RBK to decided'' Said Mihir

'Wait! I though the veil just came off as it was lying just beside where she was standing.'' Said one of the guests

'No someone did grab it because I can tell you for a fact someone did switch off the light as am the one who switched it back on.'' Said one of Ishita's old friends

'Did you see the person who switched off the light?'' asked Sarika

'Yeah it was that lady over there.'' Said the waiter as he pointed to Shilpa

'What nonsense! Why would I switch off the lights?'' said Shilpa acting innocent

'I did see you switch off the lights do not deny it. I am the one who asked her to switch it back on.'' said the waiter

'yeah you did even I saw you.'' Said Ishita's friend

'So Miss. Shilpa do you mind explaining yourself? And who the hell invited you anyway. You do realize your trespassing and we can hand you over to the police for that.'' Said Mihir

'What no I came as Shagun's plus one.'' Said Shilpa

'No that is impossible all my workers are here as that, no one was given an invite because she was supposed to be working tonight.'' Said Abhimanyu

'So I ask again do you mind talking because unlike them, I do not have the patience. Guards'' called Mihir

'no no please fine I will tell you.'' She said

Meanwhile Shagun was busy moving slowly towards the kitchen door and was trying to escape when she suddenly bumped into someone

'Oh my God Shagun I can't believe you of all people would do this to me.'' Said Ishita who had just walked in with Raman

'What Ishita oh my god how are you and why would you think I would do such a thing.'' Said Ishita

'It was Shagun who asked me to do it.'' Said Shilpa as the whole room turned and looked at Shagun

'What no! I did not. Shilpa! Why would you tell such a lie?'' Said Shagun as she began to cry

'Yes you did because your were jealous of Ishita'' said Shilpa

'Ishita she is lying I swear, I am your best friend why would I do such a thing to you.'' Said Shagun as she turned to look at Ishita

'My God I swear this is the best birthday party ever, the only thing missing is popcorn and I will be watching a TV serial.'' Said one of the waitresses

'Shush your so insensitive'' said a guest

'You know Shagun I was wondering the same thing.'' Said Ishita

'You would think I will betray you like that.'' Said Shagun with tears in her eyes

'If it is not you then what are you doing with the brooch that I use for my veil?'' asked Ishita

Shagun turned around and as luck would have it or misfortunate in Shagun's case, the brooch was stuck on the back of her dress just above the hem.

Shagun tried to explain herself and justify why she was having the brooch but even she did not believe what she was saying. She eventually wiped her tears and said

'Oh who am I kidding. Even I do not believe what I am saying. Yeah I did it so what.''

'How can you be so callous'' Asked Ishita

'Oh Ishita please, you knew what I wanted and yet you still went ahead and took it from me. He wasn't supposed to be yours but mine'' said Shagun

'I am not even going to justify that with an answer because trying to reason with you will be like talking to a wall. Just please leave.'' Said Ishita

'No you will justify it. I do not get it. Why did you have to choose her over me, over this'' said Shagun as she turned around and finally looking at Raman

'Shagun you're embarrassing yourself.'' Said Raman

'No I want to know. What does she possibly have that I don't.'' said Shagun

'She has me.'' Answered Raman to a shell shocked Shagun

'Ishita what do you want to do with this one.'' Said Raman as he turned to look at Ishita

'Nothing I just want her to leave because it won't make a difference or change what has happened. Am just glad her plan back fired'' Said Ishita holding Raman's hand

'Well Shagun you heard the lady, the door is that way GET OUT'' Said Raman

In her head she still believed that whatever was happening wasn't meant to happen and Raman would eventually tell everyone that he was in love with her and not Ishita so when she heard him say that, it was like a mixture of hurt and hate and yet a proper reality check.

'Shagun can you leave my premises or do you want me to ask security to do so.'' Said Abhimanyu

Shagun looked at Raman and it was in that moment that she realized this war was probably lost the day Raman met Ishita. She had been fighting a lost battle all this time and in the process probably lost two good friends. She looked around the room before she finally grabbed her bag and walked out.

Ishita then walked to the front of the room where Mihir was standing and Said

'I am so sorry for this, my boyfriend can mean to be a little over protective sometimes.'' As she looked at a smiling Raman who had this expression on his face almost as if to say not his fault

Ishita as well as the guests chuckled before Ishita finally said

'No need to hand over your phones, let the world bring what it may I can take it. Please just enjoy the party and let us just forget that the last couple of minutes did not just happen how about that? Can we to do that?'' to which she received cheers and applause from the guests and just like that everyone went on with the party.

There were those talking about her and her face and there were a few who were staring but Ishita would just smile and walk over to where they were answering any questions they had and instead of making the whole thing awkward, it kind of became fun. She was like an unpaid fir tourist attraction, a center of attention and she kind if loved that.

People kept on looking at her scars while others just wanted to touch it because they couldn't believe she really was that sacred. She took it lightly even shared a joke or two with the guests and just like that the night went on just fine.

A Few Days Later

Everyone was till buzzing on what had happened the on the birthday night. Ishita's mom could stop singing praises of how her daughter behaved and how proud she was of the way her daughter handled herself.

The night turned out to be perfect and one they would never forget. For all the worry that her parents had for their daughter and how she would finally end up had been somewhat reduced because they knew that she had found a gem in Raman.

Ishita and Raman spent a lot of time together and Ishita had finally become comfortable around Raman. Since her parents were back in goa and they had decided to keep Dadiji here with them for a while, there was a lot of company and a family like atmosphere. Mihir and Mihika also spent most of her time at the Iyers. It was always filled with so much love and care and everyone was genuinely happy.

Raman was about to go back to Mumbai and he wanted to ask the Iyers if he could take Ishita along with him and also talk about something very important with them. So as the rest were preparing to go for the movie, he slowly went to Mr. Iyer's study and asked if he should talk to him.

'As you know am about to leave and go back so I was asking if you would...'' But before he would finish Mr. Iyer interrupted him saying

'You wanted Ishita to come along with you.''

'Yes I want her to come a long with me. I promise I will take good care of her'' Said Raman

'I know you can take care of her Raman, you have proved that in the most unbelievable way but we are a very simple family and I worry for my daughter. Have you told your family about her?'' he said

'Yeah they do know about her of course.'' Said Raman

'No Raman that is not what am asking. You have accepted her and I am eternally grateful to you for that but will they accept her. You have to understand I worry about my daughter and until am sure about where your family stands I cannot let her leave this house.'' Said Mr. Iyer

'I can understand what you're saying I just thought that maybe if she came along with me then we would be able to talk about that thing we discussed.'' Said Raman

'You mean the surgeon?'' Said Mr. Iyer

'Yeah...'' said Raman

'She has just gained enough confidence like 5 minutes ago I do not want her to be crushed with false hope. Let us do this, I will get you all her medical details and documents from her doctor and give then to you. You go and have your surgeon look at them. If he says he can do something then we'll tell Ishita and you can take her with you. I think that is a fair compromise don't you think.'' Said Mr. Iyer

'Yeah that is fair enough for me.'' Said a smiling Raman

He then left the study and went to tell Ishita and the rest that they were getting late for the movie.

Raman parked the car in the parking lot of the movie theatre then turned to Mihir and Romi and said

'If you guys want to go for a movie go ahead but Ishita and I have other plans.'' Said Raman

'We do...'' said Ishita a bit surprised

'Yeah we did. So we will meet here after the movie and then we'll go back home together. '' Said Raman

'I also have other plans with Mihika'' said Mihir

'Since when...'' asked a surprised Mihika

'Since a while'' said Mihir as he held her hand

'Okay that means only Sarika and I are watching the movie. I can live with that.'' Said Romi to a very shy Sarika as he kissed her on the cheek

'Okay it is settled then. We'll all met here after the movies then go home together.'' Said Raman and with that everyone took their own direction

'Raman I really wanted to watch that movie.'' Said Ishita

'Yeah I know how much you love Shah Rukh but I just wanted to spend some time alone with you. We haven't done that in a while.'' Said Raman

'Yeah I know what you mean.'' Said Ishita before she turned to look at him and say

'I have been meaning to ask you, why didn't you tell me your RBK. I mean YOU ARE RBK Like seriously.''

'Haha I am sorry I didn't think it was important.'' Said a smiling Raman

'What the hell do you mean by wasn't important? You're RBK that is important.'' Said Ishita

'I don't see it that way because RBK is just a business it is not who I am. Don't get me wrong I love it to pieces but it doesn't define who I am. Besides there is more to it than the owner as there are a lot of people who go behind making it successful the media over exaggerates stuff'' He said

'Well regardless an empire is only as good as its ruler, you built that you ought to take the credit you deserve.'' Said Ishita

'Thank you for saying that, it's so sweet'' Said Raman his heart bursting with pride

'So is it all true'' she asked suddenly

'Is what true?'' asked Raman

'You know what they say about you. Mihika showed me a few tabloid magazines and it had a lot of things about you there.'' Said Ishita

'Wait are you seriously asking me that.'' Said Raman with an amused expression

'What I have a right to ask don't I?'' she said

'Okay some of it was true, most of it wasn't, all of it was exaggerated.'' He said

' So you dated all those girls really.'' She said quite shocked

'Not all, some of them'' Said Raman defending themselves

'Did you sleep with them?'' she innocently asked

'Wha... Where are these questions coming from?'' said Raman

'It was just a question, you do not have to answer it if you do not like.'' She said a bit dejected

'Ishita... Don't get upset... Okay not all of them some of them but it didn't mean anything. It was just a thing I did because I was lonely'' He answered

'Should I worry now that you going back'' She said

'Is that what this is all about? Oh God Ishita you have nothing to worry about. I have made my choice and I plan on sticking to it.'' Said Raman

'Well I just wanted to makes sure we are on the same page.'' She said smilingly

'Wow you give a seriously grueling interrogation.'' He answered

'I just wanted to make sure none of those long legged models turn your head.'' She said as she pulled him closer

'Hahahaha okay they won't. Although naturally when you see a long legged model your head has to turn...'' he said teasingly as Ishita playfully slapped him saying

'Hey that is not funny.''

'Any way seriously you do not need to be jealous.'' He added

'Hey it is my right to be jealous. Your my man never forget that.'' She said

'I do love it when you claim me like that.'' Said Raman as he pulled her in and kissed her.
