Raman grumbled as he heard his wife's constant chatter while he desperately tried to get some much sleep. Paagal aurat! The woman was testing his nerves.
- Oh bloody hell! Will you stop nonsensing on the phone at such an hour! I have to work tomorrow. Tumhari tarah daant nahin ukhana hain!
- Akdu! Oh...Sorry Akka! That wasn't for you. No don't worry. Tell me naa! I really wanna know. Besides I am not sleepy at all. Awww! My Jeeju! He is the best. So sweet! Lucky Akka!
Her high pitch voice was resonating in the room. Raman instantly grabbed the pillow on which his head was resting and brought it up to his ear but...in vain.
- This is what I call a good husband. Loving , caring and chivalrous...and ROMANTIC unlike some I know.
"Will this crazy woman stop bawling? And squealing and giggling like an idiot about I dunno what big funda her jeeju had accomplanished? Grrr!! "
Raman was now annoyed.
- Oye Paagal madrassan!
Ishita looked in his direction with a bemused expression on her face and waved her hand to ask what was the problem. Raman grimaced. Seriously??? She was asking him what was wrong!! SHE was the PROBLEM. He was exasperated.
- Are you listening to me you crazy woman?
Raman started to wave his hand in front of her to catch her attention. Ishita turned her clearly irritated face to meet his. Raman was now really annoyed and muttered under his breath.
"This is the limit! Yeh aurat ka dimaag kharab hain! Just who was annoying whom???"
- Kya hain? Hadd karte ho aap!
Her head snapped in his direction.
- Akka please, hold on a minute. Please! No no! Sab theek hain!
With a frown, she put her palm on the receiver and turned to the tantrum king, her ever seething husband, rolling her eyes. Raman clenched his fists. He hated it when she looked at him as if she was looking at their six year old daughter.
- Whaaat? You are annoying Raman. And you are such an attention seeker! Worse than Ruhi sometimes!
- Oh madam I am not interested in getting your attention. I am just trying to get some sleep while you are forgetting that this is a phone not a blooming megaphone. No need to shout for your voice to get to your Akka in Goa!!
- Excuse me! You are just a rude person. And by the way look who is talking? The one who yells all the time and EVEN IN THE PHONE.
- Oh shut up Ishita! I yell when people don't do what they should. Not like you who are squealing in the middle of the night! Go in the living room and squeal and giggle as much as you want and let me sleep.
Ishita looked in his direction fuming and put down the phone next to her, on the bed. Full on her JKR mode, she launched at her husband:
- Excuse me! Why don't you leave if you are having a problem?
Unbelievable! Raman looked at his wife as if she was a rare museum piece. WAS SHE SERIOUS?
- Why the hell should I leave?
- Why SHOULD I leave then?
- Oh come on Ishita! Throwing my words back to me! You can do better than that. Where is your dialogue writer? Think of your own come back!
Raman cocked an eyebrow and faced his wife with a smirk, full on his RKB mode and fully satisfied as he saw his wife fuming. He continued to provoke her.
- Look at the time! It is past midnight. It is sleeping time for...normal people. But I know you won't understand this at all but still...agar tumhara paagalpan ka daura shuru hogaya, I would request that you please control your decibels and let me sleep because tomorrow I have an important meeting and I need to look good and fit too.
Ishita was immediately silenced but not for long. Taking a deep breath, she hissed:
- Well you know what! REQUEST NOT GRANTED.
- What is wrong with you Ishita? Is this some kind of a joke? I am serious. I really have an early morning.
- I am serious too. I can't sleep and...
She paused. He looked on with a flabbergasted and confused look waiting for her to complete her sentence.
- And...you are not doing anything about it.
Incredulous Raman looked on. Was the woman for real? He glanced at the calendar on the side table. It was too early for her monthly campaign of torturous and illogical logics. She would be getting her period in two weeks, then why was she behaving like this? Cautiously he asked:
- What do you mean I am not doing anything?
Men were impossible! No correction, her man, her husband, Mr Raman Kumar Bhalla WAS IMPOSSIBLE. Her anger exacerbating further she continued:
- See you don't even realize what you did! Insensitive!
- Arrey mein ne kya kiya meri maa?
Clearing her throat, embarrassed but nevertheless ready to finish it off, she muttered:
- You were rude...I mean...you pushed me off...
- What? I never pushed you off Ishita!
- You did!
- No! I just stopped you from breaking my back and ruining my important files when you pounced on me.
Ishita averted her eyes, flushing a deep pink.
- I didn't. I was only too happy to see you. I missed you all day and was waiting for tonight but...
- Ishita..!!!
- And you didn't even pay attention to my new nightie...
- Ishita I am sorry. I had a stressful day. And I was really tired back home.
- Oh please this is just... excuses!
She glared at him accusingly as he looked on with his eyebrows cocked incredulously as she continued.
- I have my loads of stress at work too but still I am fit...for...whatever!! Why am I even telling you this. Sometimes I wonder if...you don't have any problem or something!
Her eyes drifted to the lower part of his anatomy and then turned away.
He flinched.Seriously! She dared! Raman Kumar Bhalla was now really angry.
- I DO NOT HAVE ANY SUCH PROBLEM and you know that.
She retorted back looking at him squarely in the face.
- I know nothing!
She turned away and went to sit in the middle of the bed sulking.
- I can't believe this! Are you provoking me?
She looked at him with her arms crossed.
- Yes I am.
He jumped on the bed and grabbed her pulling her to him.
- You are not getting away with this one Mrs Ishita Raman Kumar Bhalla. Time to show you that your husband has no...err... Performance problems!!
And that's when it happened...Something caught their attention...A sound!! They turned around.
- Oh no!!
They both shouted simultaneously.
Raman and Ishita looked at each other shell shocked and dropped down in bed with their heads in hands wishing that the ground would split right there and engulf them rather than being the laughing stock of the family the next morning!!
The sound was from the phone on the bed. It was still on hold and...
Was it Vandu laughing aloud with Bala roaring in the background?
A side note:
This is a short and light one shot from my side as a gift to all my readers as our favourite show has reached 300 episodes and our favourite Jodi have entertained us for one whole year!!
As you all have guessed this is a piece of my imagination on how I wish to see Raavan Kumar and his Jhansi ki Rani entertaining us after the much awaited confession and consummation and after they have started leading lives as normal couples.
Who say married life after confession and consummation is boring on daily soaps?
Now let me know how it was? Looking forward to read your comments.
Love
