As he sat playing cards with friends cracking jokes of old times they enjoyed as young actors, phones beeped and at least four of them looked puzzled at each other and saw messages about a fire. Immediately phone calls were made asking if all was ok. The shift ended early so he knew most colleagues had left but he wondered because he always wonders. As soon as everyone came to know that all is fine and no one hurt people got back to playing and drinking. But he sat and wondered. And then his mind travelled, a friend teased him, asking if he was going to loose and if that is why he is biting his nails. He laughed it off and tried to concentrate in the game. He thought of the end of the shoot earlier in the evening, he had stepped out for a smoke, he always did, at first did it because the director requested for her that time it irritated him then she tied a thank you band and now he always steps out to smoke. As he was standing thinking about all this, he sense her he turns and watches her, she has also stepped out and is on t he phone and he knows he is not wondering anymore, he knows that she is talking but isn't smiling and then suddenly it seems she is upset, he wonders now, she hangs up and it seems like she was crying he is about to walk to her, he flings the cigarette on the floor and mashes it with his shoe and then watches her colleague who plays her sister walk to her hold her comfort her he wonders. His thoughts come back to the now, he suddenly stands up and tells his friends he needs to step out for a smoke, they tease him again, it's not shoot yaar, smoke here, he laughs saying adat hai he steps out , fiddles with his phone and dials, she picks on the second ring

Her laughter is the reply to his smile
Oh yeah ambulance ke paas Maine blue shirt dekha thaa..and suddenly she stops talking, and is quiet
He scratches his forehead with his index finger and cannot help but smile

And then nothing, I just wondered.

He hangs up and comes back in to join his friends, when his close pal a fellow actor who has played his wife, raises an eyebrow and says I thought you went out f or a smoke, your lighter and cigarette packet is right here.
