Part 6

It was a Sunday the next day, a day when Raman usually slept in. And since he came home late last night Ishita expected the same today. But Raman was up and about getting ready to go out. He was smiling too. She had never seen him smile so much. He hadn't told her about any of his plans, so she asked him.

"Raman?"

"Hmm..." Raman said while styling his hair.

"Are you going out?"

"Well, I decided to do a fancy dress competition at home. That's why the grooming."

"Huh?"

"Arre yaar, I am dressing up means I am going out right? Why would I dress up if I was staying home?"

"But you usually spend Sundays with the family."

"Yes, usually. This is not one of those usual Sundays. And why are you acting like a typical wife, asking me 20 questions?"

"What do you mean acting? I am your wife."

"Yeah, right." Raman mumbles inaudibly under his breath.

"You said something?"

"No."

"Raman, just tell me where are you going? Do you have work?"

"Not work. Its leisure. A breakfast meeting. With Kiran."

"Oh."

"You can come too if you want."

"No, you both enjoy."

"Are you sure?"

"Raman, today is Sunday. I have a lot of work around the house."

"Right. Anyways, don't wait up for me. I might be late."

"You are going to spend the whole day with your friend?" Ishita was surprised.

"Maybe. We don't have a definite plan, so..."

"Oh, okay. Have fun."

"I will. I am going to have a lot of fun. Have no doubt about that."

Raman was ready to go and so he wished everyone a goodbye, gave a sweet kiss to Ruhi and left the house.

Ishita was then busy cleaning the house and then preparing lunch. At lunch time when the family asked her about Raman, she told them he was with his friend. And when Raman wasn't there for dinner, she told him that he wasn't back. She asked them if Raman and Kiran were best friends. She hadn't had the opportunity to ask about Kiran to him. Nobody in the family had heard of Kiran but Romi.

"Oh bhabi, is this the Kiran from college?"

"Maybe. You know her?"

"No, I've only heard about Kiran from bhai. He told me they were the best of friends. You know the will-do-anything-for-you types. They used to spend all their time together in college. So much so that everybody thought that she and bhai were in love." Romi laughed.

Ishita was aghast. "Kiran is a girl?"

"Of course bhabi. It's a girl's name, so obviously Kiran is a girl."

Ishita's smile and mood dimmed considerably. Raman had spent late till last night with some girl. And today again he is spending the entire day with her. She suddenly lost her appetite. Why am I upset? Even I have friends of the opposite sex. Mani and I a good friends too. Raman can be friends with a girl. There is nothing wrong in that. Somehow she was having a tough time convincing herself. She nibbled and played with her food, and after dinner cleared everything and retired to her room. She decided to read a book while waiting for Raman to return home.

Raman spent the morning with Neil. Trisha was back in London for the festival season and he was alone. Raman had of course warned Neil against telling anyone about him spending that time at his place. Late evening he went to Mihir's place. Mihika had just left for home after visiting him. Mihir was pleasantly surprised to see him there.

"Bhai, you here?"

"Yeah."

"Anything wrong?"

"You should ask what is not wrong... How about a few drinks while I tell you?"

"Yeah, bhai. Come on."

Mihir brought a bottle of whiskey and two glasses along with a few peanuts and potato chips. He offered a glass to Raman and then took his glass and sat down.

"Tell me bhai. What happened?"

"Your Bhabhi is the most irritating woman ever."

"Bhai, what did you do now?"

Raman sent a glare towards him. "It is not always my fault. She also acts stupidly sometimes. She thinks I am spending the whole day today with some girl."

"Bhai, why would Bhabhi think like that? I'm sure its just a misunderstanding..."

"No, its no misunderstanding. I made her believe that."

"What?!"

Really good so Raman has told her a lie can't wait for next part as what he has planned
