Part2

Without a further delay, he zoomed the car out of the apartment complex towards a place where it would be just them and their sweet nothings. These moments, their talks, their silences were going to be theirs...just theirs!

Wo Lamhe, Wo Baatein,
Koi Na Jaane,
Thi Kaisi Raatein,
Hooo, Barsaatein,
Wo Bheegi Bheegi Yaadein,
Wo Bheegi Bheegi Yaadein...

****************************

The silence was indeed killing but yet he chose to give her the much needed time and space. He wasn't too good at consoling her emotionally. His way of talks often could go the wrong way because a taunt always slipped out from his sword like tongue. He never thought twice before speaking anything but today he didn't want to cause her more hurt and so stayed quiet.

Ishita kept looking out of the window not wanting to show him her tears which were becoming uncontrollable today. It wasn't Bala's mom's harsh words that hurt but the unchangeable reality of her life that had suddenly brought a barrier and stopped her from being part of her sister's happiness. With that reality came back the memories which she had totally thrown out of her life. Memories of Subbu and how easily he had plucked her out of his life were back to torment her. She had decided never to cry over it but today she could feel all her determination draining away. She never wanted anybody to see her tears nor her grief struck face. She usually hid all her tears in the facade of an ever smiling face.

Raman wasn't naive not to notice her vulnerability. Her tears and the reason for it weren't new to him. But each time she was stuck in it, she simply floored him with her unique, humble way of accepting her life's painful reality gracefully and handling her problems tactfully on her own. This time, he was sure that she would resurface out of it and he was waiting for it.

She was a woman of different shades and he had seen almost every shade of it. Nothing related to her went unnoticed from him, be it the simple innocent side or the egoistic stubborn side which always gave him back tit for tat replies, during their nhok jhoks. Her brilliant way of handling any problem with a smile had indeed made her a super woman for him. He called her Jhansi ki rani and he had ample reasons for it. It wasn't just her fighter cock mode but also her brave daring self.

All through, his glance alternated between the road and her, as if to know if she was alright.

The moment he saw a tear escaping her eyes, he felt like stopping the car and taking her into his arms. He longed to hold her safely, protectively in his embrace, away from all the evil eyes in this world. If at all possible, he wanted to banish away every reason for her tears from her life. He desired to fill her world with just happiness, where no pain would ever touch her.

But he also understood that her tears were remnants of those tormenting memories of her past life. He didn't want to trespass in there and make it uneasy for her. Rather he would give her some time to deal with it and then may be take it into his hands.

He realized dealing with her Jhansi ki Rani avatar was far more easy that handling this sorrow state of hers.

Though it got difficult for him, he let her be and controlled himself from talking.

But she chose to speak and break the unsettling silence when she suddenly realized that they weren't heading to the caterer's place

"Raman, where are we going?"

Her question made him smile and he questioned back, "Does that matter?"

She wanted to tell him that the destination never mattered to her and she would happily go to any corner of this world and feel at peace and safe with him but she said none of that. On the contrary she replied, "Yes it does...hum bohat dur aa gaye Raman aur wahaan sab soch rahe honge ke..."

He snapped her short, "tum yeh toh nahi soch rahi ke maine tumaare caterer waala jhoot ko sacch maan liya hai??"

She was silent as if tongue tied while he went on to enquire, "kya tum humesha se hi bevakoof ho ya aaj koyi special occasion hai?"

"matlab??" she glared at him while he casually grinned and replied, "matlab ke mujhe patha hai ke tum bas wahaan se baahar rehna chahti thi...and it was nothing related to the caterer..."

Her glaring eyes softened the moment he said that. Of course, she should have known her Raavan better, or may be her Raman better. He knew her inside out and nothing escaped his eyes, especially when it was related to her. Quite ironical for a couple like them but then she had to agree that he knew her so well.

She looked at him fondly and he had a tough time tying down his hands from hugging her to console her and tell her that she wasn't alone in this. He would be with her always.

He was the one to look away to focus on the road and she spoke up, "toh aapne woh baatein sunn li??"

He didn't turn to her side but just replied, "sukar karo ke nahi suna...warna tumaare akka ke function..."

She chuckled amidst her teary eyes. After a long moment silence, she spoke, "sab ki apni apni soch hai...gussa karne se kya hoga? Kisi ko bathal nahi sakthe"

He flared up a little, "Soch bathal nahi sakte but guest list zaroor bathal sakte teh...maine tumse kaha bhi tha parr nahi tumhe toh mahaan banne ka shauq chadha hai..."

She could only smile at her husband's anger which only reflected his concern for her.

She took a deep breath and replied, "Mahaan nahi bas sakbi khushi chahti hoom Raman..."

He was instant in his reply, "aur main tumaari khushi..."

His words never ended, perhaps the realization of what he wished for made him stop but she had heard even his unsaid words. She replied back, "Main khush hoom Raman...bohat khush..."

Her happiness was the most important for him and she was quite happy with him in her life. Both these thoughts slowly took over all their restlessness.

They let the comforting silence take over in their peaceful world where it was just them. They never realized where they had headed to or when he took a turn back.

They were lost in their own world, not wanting to break that line of thought which gave both their hearts a soothing touch. Both knew everything about the others past life and the betrayal they faced in love but at this moment, they were really thinking of a second chance in love. Or they were already on the same path.

They had met on cross roads and had zero expectations of their paths merging but they did merge in Ruhi. Now the parallel roads of their lives really desired to become one forever.

Nobody spoke...perhaps, some things were best left undeclared...unspoken!

Raman halted the car near their apartment. It was then when she realized that they were back. A light tinge of disappointment flooded across her as somewhere deep inside, she never wanted this drive to end.

Her wandering thoughts broke when he came over to her side and opened the door for her.

She was indeed surprised by that gesture. As she got down, he called her "Ishita..."

Ishita looked up at him "haan Raman"

Raman had many things to tell her, get her speak to him but somehow couldn't start it off. They kept looking at each other for a long moment and then he said, "kuch nahi...tum chalo...I will park the car and come..."

Ishita smiled and nodded. The watchman's radio crooned out a song in the background...

zindagi ke safar mein guzar jate hain jo makam,

woh phir nahin aate, woh phir nahin aate...

zindagi ke safar mein, guzar jate hain jo makam

woh phir nahin aate, woh phir nahin aate

phool khilte hain, log milte hain

phool khilte hain, log milte hain magar

patjhad main jo phool murjha jate hain

woh baharon ke aane se khilte nahin

kuchh log ek roz jo bichad jate hain

woj hazaron ke aane se milte nahin

umr bhar chahe koi pukara kare unka naam

woh phir nahin aate, woh phir nahin aate

A song which teaches the most basic yet painful reality of our life, the time, the moments, the people who have gone past us will never ever come back into our life. No matter what, they are all gone forever. Absolutely nothing in this world can bring them back to us.

But...but "Life doesn't stop at anything...it goes on...and with life, we need to move on"

It is up to us to cherish what we have in our hands at that present moment and make our life complete and fill it with happiness and love.
