So here it is...Woh Lamhe, Woh Baatein Koi Na Jaane!
Months flew by and the realization of being in love for the second time was eventually setting in each other's heart but their logical mind stopped them from verbally acknowledging it to each other. But it was a bitter sweet feeling that made every moment interesting and exciting and both of them weren't ready to voice it our and break this beautiful dream like phase of their relationship.
Their usual nhok jhoks and silly arguments became something more special which both looked forward to with equal vigour and anticipation.
Shagun and Ashok's marriage were on the cards and so one big stumble block in Ishita-Raman's life was out of their way. All were happy and to add onto the happiness, Ishita planned a baby shower for her Vandu akka. Usually baby showers were done for the first baby but Ishita felt that a less formal function and a party would give a good chance for all to celebrate. Raman was all up for it. He couldn't deny to Ishita's wishes any day though he taunted initially saying, "tumhe toh bahaana chahiye paise udaane ka...chalo karlo jo karna hai...ussme lagi rahogi toh kam se kam main tumaare lectures se bacch jaavunga!"
He, himself knew what a big lie it was because Ishita was the most simple, practical person he ever knew. He knew that she was never into spending money unwantedly. It was always their family's happiness that mattered to her the most. And his hatred to her lectures was another lie from him. He couldn't even express how much he enjoyed her lectures these days and one day without it felt as if his day was incomplete. He surprised himself with his clichd behaviour but then his heart chirped back that while in love, there was no place for logics.
Raman felt in bliss and peace having her as his life partner and also realized that it was destined that they become soul mates for life.
Ishita left no stone unturned during the preparations of the function and party. All in the family helped her and though she wanted it to be a surprise for Vandu akka and her Bala jiju, it couldn't remain a secret for long. But the most sportive couple Vandu and Bala remained mum and posed ignorance to the whole surprise. They never enquired or talked about it in order to give Ishita the happiness and satisfaction of having given them the surprise.
It was the baby shower day and Ishita was on her toes doing up the final bit of the preparations. All guests started arriving. Vandu and Bala came along with Shravan.
It was a gala time for all. The baby shower rituals were towards the evening while the party was after that.
An hour into the function...
He saw her move out of the hall in a hurry, actually stealthily slipping away from all eyes. He wondered where she was going leaving behind the function and the upcoming party. Was something or some work left behind?
"Yeh madrasan kahaan chali? Chalke dekhta hoom!"
He decided to check on her and help her if needed. As he began to follow her, he saw Bala's mom coming out of the same room from where Ishita had come. He didn't need to know rocket science to understand what the problem was. He really wanted to blast the lady and give him his piece of mind but then he also knew that Ishita was his priority at that moment. He couldn't leave her to herself.
Actually, he was against inviting all the extended family for the occasion but Ishita insisted that they have to call her saying that she was Bala's mom and the baby's dadi. So she had the right to be present there. Ishita knew that Bala's mom didn't like her but even then she said that she didn't have the right to snatch away a grandmother's right to be there for the rituals. It was called nalangu where all the ladies and elders in the family would apply turmeric paste on the mother to be and also bless her and the baby. All would give her sweets and put glass bangles on her hands.
Bala's mom had taken Ishita aside into a room and instructed her to stay out of the ritual. She had strictly told her that she didn't like a barren lady to do this ritual and cause harm to the unborn child. Ishita controlled her tears to the maximum and assured her that she would stay away. Ishita didn't want bala's mom to cause any problems during the ritual and make everybody upset. Ishita knew that if she stayed there, Vandu akka ana Bala jiju would surely get her to do the ritual which Bala's mom was sure to oppose. So that's when she decided to go away from the place.
They would surely search for her when the time came but then she would tell them that she had forgotten something relating to the party and had gone to arrange it.
Planning all of it in her head, she had quickly slipped out. Little did she know that somebody's eyes were always on her and he couldn't bear a tear in her eyes nor could he allow any pain to even come near her!
He saw her walking to her car but he caught up with her before she opened the door.
"Where are you going?"
Raman's question snapped her out of the clogged up thoughts of what had transpired between her and Bala's mom. She looked to his side and then suddenly turned away realizing that her eyes were filled with unshed tears. She knew that he would understand that all wasn't well with her in a jiffy. She didn't want to upset him nor did she want him to pick up a fight with Bala's mom for her sake. So she blinked back the tears quickly, wiping it off hastily and replied, "Actually Raman, caterer ne phone kiya...sweet dish mein kuch problem hai...so I am going to check and select some other sweet...aap andar jao aur sabka khayaal rakhna...main abi aathi hoom"
Raman couldn't stop a smile hearing her big fat lie. He wiped the remnant tear drops from her cheeks which had escaped from her eyes with his fingertips.
"jhoot bolna tumaare bass ki baat nahi...aur aanzoo chupaana bhi..."
She knew very well that he would find out the moment he saw her but then it was a final attempt from her side to escape his enquiring questions. So she started explaining, "Woh actually, aankon mein kuch chala gaya Raman...aur kuch nahi..."
He smiled faintly but her tears and also her attempts to hide it from him moved him deeply. He replied, "accha? Chalo main help kartha hoom"
He didn't wait for a reply from her but just leaned forward to her face. She closed her eyes as his breath fanned her. Her heart skipped a few beats at his proximity. He opened her eyes and gently blew air into it. She didn't realize what he was upto till she felt the cool air on her eyes. He did the same with the other eye. Once done, he kissed her eye lids which fluttered in the strange sensations that his intimate gesture caused.
When she realized what he did and also the fact that they were standing so close and he had kissed her eyes in a public, she stepped back from him whispering, "Raman..."
He wasn't bothered about any of it. All that mattered was that she was in despair and he would do whatever it takes to make her feel good. He held her wrist and turned to his car, "Chalo...saat chalte hai caterer ke paas..."
He had said that to trap her in her own lie because the caterer had already delivered the food and there was no problem with any dish. But he posed ignorance and decided to use the same lie as an excuse to scoot from the place. He knew that she needed some time to stay away from all but he wasn't going to let her go through it all alone.
She kept protesting as he dragged her to his car, "Raman, agar hum dono chale gaye toh yahaan kaun sambaalega?? One of us needs to be here Raman...aap samajhte nahi ho Raman..."
All her protests fell into deaf ears and soon she was sitting beside him in the car. She didn't shut up yet and was just lecturing him on why they couldn't or rather why they shouldn't leave the function together.
When she wasn't stopping, he closed her mouth with his palm, "shhh...bilkul chup...ab tum bas chup chaap mere saat chalogi...aur raha sawaal yahaan ka...relax...everything is taken of...maine Mihir aur Bala ko message kar diya...they will take care...ab iss waqt mere liye sirf tum important ho...samjhi???"
She couldn't say anything more. So she just numbly nodded and decided to let go. For the first time ever, she decided to stop lecturing him on their responsibilities and listen to her husband.
His hands left her mouth and he said, "That's better"
He definitely knew how to make his Jhansi ki rani feel better.
Without a further delay, he zoomed the car out of the apartment complex towards a place where it would be just them and their sweet nothings. These moments, their talks, their silences were going to be theirs...just theirs!
