Emotions, the feelings which we undergo make us human. But the one that makes us feel alive is love. Not every one is as lucky to be blessed with such a sacred feeling though, to love is something but to be loved is another story altogether.
It doesn't have to be a grand gesture, its the ordinary ones that count which people tend to forget.
She had worn her favorite white lace saree today. What made it her favorite was the material, color or the over all look, perhaps the person who gifted it to her she thought. As she gave herself a look over she couldn't help but smile anticipating his reaction. It was just at that particular moment that she found him entering in to the room, their room.
"Ishi.." he stood there gaping at her after closing the behind him.
She took her sweet time in lifting her eyes in the mirror to meet his, a shy smile playing on her lips when she asked him "you wanted to say something?"
He tilted his head befor replying "we are late."
"Its never too late, Raman." She responded as she made her way to the door he had just closed but enough when he held her wrist and pulled her towards him, her front collided with his. For a second she thought he would just give in but what took place next left her breathing heavily as he traced the length of her cheek with his knuckles and she couldn't decide if she was disappointed when he didn't say the words or elated with the look in his eyes. She was almost glad for not closing her eyes for she would have missed the silent appraisal his eyes said. But when his thumb made its way to her lips, she couldn't brave herself to look him in the eye. "Later." He said and moved away to get his jacket from the bed.
She didn't know she was capable of walking on wobbling legs until she did. It was a task itself to reach at the threshold but to walk back to him again to assist him in wearing his blazer was another thing. She quickly held the blazer while he fitted his arms in, in the meanwhile she couldn't ignore the way he looked though. The stubble she realized did him good, it added another charm to his crisp personality. His hair which he had trimmed gave him a younger look and she couldn't help but run her fingers on the square shoulders when he had worn the jacket, giving it a final pat before he interrupted her reverie again by suggesting they they leave now.
All the while during the drive to the venue, he kept glancing at her direction. And after brushing his fingers against her when shifting gears he finally gave in and held her hand in his until he changed the next gear. He looked straight ahead when he asked her as a matter of fact "why did you choose this Saree?"
"Don't you like it?"
"Don't you know yet?"
"Don't you know it then?"
"What have I got myself into?"
"Its too late now."
"Really?" I thought its never too late." He smirked after quoting her own words to her and parked the car.
It was a grand affair, mihika reached their side as soon as they made their appearance. She was delighted of course to have at least a sister for her support. It was a big day for her, the annual dinner along with award night was nothing less than a gala. Although through out the year she worked hard to get the employee of the year award but when the time came she was a bundle of nerves. Her fiance also came in tow to meet his favorite couple and they all settled down for the ceremony to begin. However as soon as the awards were distributed, Raman became agitated and made it clear to his wife about his plans to leave early. Her intention was no different than his and since her dear sister was too happy to care for the world after getting her award, they made an early exit.
It was on the way when the route did not look familiar to that of their home that she asked him "where are we going?"
"Where we should have gone in the first place."
"Do you plan to answer my question?"
"Do you plan to remain like this for the rest of our lives?"
"Like what?"
"This persistent."
"Of course."
"Thank God."
"Did I hear that correct? Did you just thank God because I'm to be persistent?"
"Because I don't want you to change."
"Why?"
"Haven't I made myself clear yet?"
"You need to say it Raman, I'm not a telepathic."
"Do you have your lipstick with you?"
"Huh?"
"Didn't you mention I need to say what I had in mind?"
"Yes."
He kept his hand on the back of her head and brought her lips to his while he kept an eye on the road. That was how they kissed for the first time. One minute he was grabbing her head and kissing her senseless and the next he pulled back and asked her to get out of the car. When she looked all flustered and refused to get out. He took matters into his hands and extracted her himself and led her inside the hotel. With her imaginations running wild, she only followed him and took a sigh of relief when they headed to a coffee shop and not the reception for a room. She didn't know her face had turned into crimson until he broke into a wide grin as he made himself comfortable in the chair adjacent to hers.
"What?" She couldn't help but ask.
"I didn't know red would suit you this much."
"Its white."
"I'm talking about your blush."
"Its all your fault."
"Guilty as charged." He said as he raised both his hands to surrender.
"What would you like to have?" She asked looking at the menu.
"What I would like is not served here." He said eyeing her with his not to noble intentions lurking in his eyes.
"Then why are we here?"
"I thought being in public would help."
"What is the progress then?" She said the mischief shining in her eyes.
"Don't test my nobility, I might just disappoint you."
"In that case I'd prefer our room."
"Wait... Why?"
"To relive those moments again."
"What makes you think It would be worth reliving."
"Your love."
"I thought you weren't a telepathic." He said smiling.
"All I need to be is human to sense your love. The one that makes me feel alive."
It doesn't have to be grand but meaningful. What matters are the emotions that you feel in the presence of your beloved. Sometimes, you find your own self when you lose, such were her thoughts when she voiced her feelings through him.
"Promise me you will never change." He asked holding her hand in his looking deep in her eyes. That was her moment of declaration, she realized when she kept her other hand over theirs and smiled up to him.
Sometimes a look says it all when words fall short.
