Part 5

Raman had already formulated the plan as to how to make Ishita realize that after the Parmeet fiasco his family had also taken a positive step towards accepting her as part of the family. He told his parents, Romi, Rinki and Ruhi about the plan and everyone agreed. He decided to come home early from office so that they could all be ready when Ishita comes. He knew that no grand gestures or gifts will win Ishita. An emotional wound can only be healed by an emotional response.

When he reached the floor where the Bhalla's and Iyer's lived, he could hear a lot of noise coming from the Iyer's house. Just then Mihika came there with two huge soft drink bottles in her hand. he asked Mihika what was the commotion about.

Mihika,"Jiju, woh akka bahut dino se pareshan thi or upset reh rahi thi toh periamma ne ek party rakhi hai ghar pe. Periamma ne akka ke Dental College waalein saarein old friends ko invite kiya hai taaki akka thodi cheer up ho jayein." She said this and walked inside the house where he could see a lot girls and guys sitting and laughing. Ishita was looking beautiful in a white and silver anarkali suit. She looked happier than she ever looked since the Parmeet's incident but still her eyes were sad. He could see how this smile and laughter was so different and so much more dull in comparison to the Jhani ki Rani smile that he was used to.

Raman in his mind," Yeh Jhansi ki Rani ne toh talwar hi daal diya hai. But aaj toh Ishita ko khulke hasna hi hoga."

He goes to his house and keeps his laptop. He changes into casuals and barges into the Iyer's home. He comes in and says," Ishita Darling, I'm so sorry main party ke liye late ho gaya. Please naraaz mat hona."

Ishita is stunned to see Raman and to listen to his words. Amma is about to react and send Raman away when Mr. Iyer stops her. She stops seeing that everyone is looking and she does not want any drama in front of Ishita's friends.

Raman," Chalo Darling, ab naraazgi chodo or mujhe apne friends se toh milwao. Shaadi per toh tumne in logon ko bulaya nahi. Abhi milwado."

Female Friend 1," Haye Ishita, tune bataya nahi tune itne hot ladke se shaadi ki hai. Tu college main mujhe chedti thi aur khud yahan Salman Khan se shaadi karli."

Raman," ab jab Ishita itni hot or beautiful hai toh mujhe toh Salman Khan hona hi padega na. Nahi toh haath se nahi chali jayegi kya."

Male Friend 2," oh Ishita, ab hum samjhe. Toh Raman jiju ke intezaar main tumne college main hum sabko bhav hi nahi dia. Hamara saara line maarna waste."

Ishita's head was reeling. She did not know what was happening. She did not know what to make of Raman's behaviour but she could not say anything in front of her friends.

Raman," arey tum sab Ishita ke college ke dost ho. Meri biwi ke kuch maze daar kisse toh sunao."

Female Friend 3,"arey humein kya Ishita se daat khani hai jo humko aapko iske kisse sunayein."

Raman to Ishita,"oh toh yeh lecture dene ki addat tumhari college se hi hai aur main samjha ki main special hun islie tum mere saath aisa karti hun. I'm hurt Ishita yeh sunkar ki tum sabke saath hi aisa karti ho." He said this with a mischievous smile and everyone laughed.

Raman continued," arey iske gusse se kya darna. Lecture degi ya mooh todegi. Main toh darta hi nahi hun. Agar daanth tod bhi dia usne toh problem toh iski hi hain na. Isko thik karna padega." He laughed at this and so did everyone. He placed his hand around Ishita's shoulder and started introducing himself to everyone individually.

Raman throughout the evening entertained Ishita's friends and got to know all of them. He opened up to them also and talked to each and everyone individually. He was taking a genuine interest in all her friends. He made the party really fun. He was listening to Ishita's college stories with great interest and enthusiasm. He would occasionally pull her leg in front of her friends and also complimented her profusely. Overall, her friends were really enjoying his company.

Soon everyone had dinner and started to leave but not before each and everyone praised Raman and told her how lucky she was to have someone so caring and understanding by her side for the rest of her life.

Amma was furious seeing all this but Mr. Iyer and Mihika were happy to see this side of Raman. As soon as the last person left, Ishita went to her room without even looking at Raman. Raman tried to call her but before that the door had been shut. He followed her in the room. He pushed the door open as it was not locked from inside. Amma tried to stop him but Mr. Iyer stopped her and Raman anyway had decided to not pay heed to Amma if she stopped him.

When he entered the room, Ishita was sitting on the bed staring into space. She looked up hearing the door lock click. Raman was inside and had locked the door. There was an intense eye lock between Ishita and Raman. Ishita's eyes were full of questions mingled with sadness and anger while Raman's eyes were guilty and pleading.

Ishita," Raman, app yeh sab kyun kar rahe hai?"

Raman," Bas Ishita, isse phele ki tum apna lecture start karo main tumse kuch khena chahta hun. Aur ek baar bina mujhe toke mujhe meri baat poori karne dena."

He came and kneeled on the floor in front of Ishita on the side of the bed.

Ishita," Raman, please kuch nahi hai baat karne ko."

Raman," Tumhe ek baar main kuch samjh nahi aata kya. Kaha na chup raho or suno." Ishita was silent seeing his Raavan Kumar side. Raman eyes softened suddenly and he said," Ishita, main jaanta hun ki maine aaj tak tumhe bahut hurt kiya hai. Aur tum sabse jyada dukhi ho is baat se ki maine us din parmeet waali baat pe tumhara saath nahi diya. I know ki tumhe lagata hai ki mujhe phele hi kuch bolna chahiye tha. But Ishita main apne ghar waalon ko jaanta hun. Woh Simmi ke saamne tumhe nahi samjhte kuch. Main jaanta tha ki tum sahi ho but saboot laana bahut important tha Ishita. Mujhe tum per poora bharosa tha. Haan mujhse sirf ek galti ho gayee ki maine tumhe yeh baat kahi nahi. Mujhe tumhe yeh bata dena chahiye tha. Ishita, I know tumhe lagega ki main jhooth bol raha hun but in 2 mahino main jabse hamari shaadi hui hai, tum sirf Ruhi ki maa nahi ho per main bhi tumhe apni life ka ek part manta hun. Dekho Ishita, main tumhara pati ban paunga ya nahi yeh main nahi jaanta lekin ek companion jarur ban sakta hun. Main Shagun ki tarh tumse pyaar nahi karta but tumhari respect jarur karta hun. Meri situation smajho. Tum toh bahut smajhdaar ho, hamesha mujhe lectures deti ho, tumhe kaise nahi samjha ki main apni family ke beech pis raha hun, ek tarf tum aur ek taraf Simmi. Aadat ho gayee hai mujhe tumhari. Please ab yeh sab kuch chodo aur wapas ghar chalo mere saath. I'm really sorry for all that has happened."

Ishita has tears rolling down her cheek and she doesn't know what to say. So when Raman extends his hand to hold her, she takes his hand and goes to the Bhalla's. Everyone sees them coming in.

Ishita goes to their room and sits on the bed. She is still thinking about the words that Raman just said to her. Just then Ruhi walks in with lots of craft material in her hand. She sits down in front of Ishita on the floor and opens a new big drawing book. She has many things with her like crayons, glitters, a few magazines and a picture book. She says, "Ishimaa, aaj ek special project banana hai. Aao mere saath baitho taaki hum is special project ko bana sakein."

Ruhi opens the first page of the diary and Ishita sees her own photo stuck in the centre with huge words in gold glittering under it which said, "Our Ishita Diary." As soon as she sees this and is about to ask Ruhi what this is, when she looks up to see the entire Bhalla family standing in front of her.

They all sit down on the floor and Toshiji says,"Chal Ruhi puttar, impaartant project banaye. Ishita puttar vich diary. Sabse phele Bhallji shuru karenge. Yeh diary vich hum sab apni Ishita ke saath kitne jude hai aur roz kya karna chahte hai woh likhenge."

Ishita is sitting beside Ruhi with a confused look on her face but no one is directly looking at her so that she can question them.

Bhallaji cuts a picture from one of the magazine which shows a family drinking tea and says, "Le Ruhi puttar, yeh picture chipka de aur likh uske neeche ki main toh hamesha hi Ishita jaisi bahu paake proud feel karta hun. Te main apni har subah ki chai apni bahu ke saath peena chahta hun aur usse apne akbaar ki khabarein discuss karna chata hun."

Toshiji, "Yeh le Ruhi toh photo chipka. Main likti hun. Aur phie meri baari. Main yeh waali picture chipkaungi." The picture has a woman watching TV. " Aur meri taraf se likhti hun ki main Ishita ke saath TV pe serial sherial dekhungi aur society ki saari gossip discuss karungi. Te main saas hun islie roz usse taane bhi marungi."

Ishita is looking at all this stunned. She understands the message that everyone is trying to send her. They are trying to tell her that she too is a part of them and that they care for her.

Rinki and Romi have a small argument as to who will go first and finally, Rinki yields to Romi's bossy style. Romi says,"Yeh le Ruhi yeh bike ki photo meri taraf se chipka de. Main chahta hun ki Bhabhi mujhe yeh bike gift karein."

Toshiji,"Oye khotey, fitte muh. Tu Ishita ke liye kya karega te uski photo chipkani hai na ki usse kya lega."

Romi, "Haan toh Ruhi likh uske neeche. Jab Bhabhi mujhe bike dila dengi toh main us main unhe poora Delhi ghumaunga."

Everyone laughed and Ishita smiled at his cute gesture.

Rinki then gave a picture of Idli-Sambhar to Ruhi and said," Main roz Bhabhi ke saath tasty tasty Idli kahungi aur unse Idli-sambhar banana bhi seekh lungi."

Raman said, "Finally, my turn."

Ruhi, "No papa, First my turn." Raman smiles and let's Ruhi go first. Ruhi sticks the picture from a fairy tale book of Princess and her Queen mother. She says."Jaise Ishima mujhe bahut pyaar karti hai aur mujhe apni princess banake rakhti hai waise Ruhi bhi Ishimaa ko bahut pyaar karti hai aur unhe Queen banake rakhegi."

Everyone smiled and Ishita had tears in her eyes. Raman then cut out the King from the same fairy tale book and stuck it beside the picture Ruhi had stuck. Raman said," Aur main bhi Ishita ko apni queen banake rakhunga. Hamesh. Ruhi Promise."

Ishita was now crying freely with tears of joy coming out of her eyes. Just then Simmi walked in and everyone except Raman was surprised to see her back. She extended the picture of a beautiful salwar suit and some other shopping stores and said," Main apni behen jaisi nanad ko Lajapat Nagar shopping ke liye le jaoungi aur usse sabse jyada discount dil waooungi."

She then looks at Ishita and says,"Ishita mujhe maaf karde. main ab jaan gayee hun kaun sahi aur kaun galat tha."

All Ishita could do was cry silently with a big smile on her face while Raman and Ruhi hugged her from either side. Raman was holding Ishita from the left while Ruhi hugged her from the right. Ishita knew that the family still had a long way to travel but the first concrete step had been taken for her to be accepted as their bahu for life.
