Well i dont think they are mocking tamil culture..In fact i was a bit surprised when they showed Shravans' (Ishitas' nephew) "Poonuzh" ceremony, that was simply perfect!! If Ishitas' moms' tamil accent is to go by, i heard that most of the North ppl found tamil as a difficult language, & their tamil accent is not upto that good, unless they do constant practice...but Ishitas' mom is in her initial days of the show, still she is doing great!! She is pronouncing words like "Murugan" "Nalla irukattum " "Nalla nadakattum" !!!! as well as she is pronouncing hindi as a tamilian do👍🏼. I dont' hav any query in her language as well as acting. And the same goes for Ishita, she doesnt' talk in tamil as much her mom does.. She matches an Iyer gal exactly! & haan Iyer ppl do hav a dress code.. Iyer women wear sarees in Madisar model.. but now a days only traditional women wear like that...So dress code is not a problem.
For Ramans' mom/family, i'm not a punjabi gal so i'm clueless about the costumes & culture!!, still i found their acting flawless😉

Actually its not the show's fault. The thing is we always tend to look at things more from a stereotyped/common perspective.
For example, Punjabis are always presented with a certain accent & a certain carefree attitude. But in reality, not all Punjabis are like that. They have come to be known as being that way. Same way many people would think of the really pure South Indians who've lived in Madras/Chennai etc. all their lives to have that kind of an accent, even though they may not.

And by the way, I do know of some tamil people whose parents' speak the same way Ishita's mum speaks.

I am a southener, though not a tamilian.
So far I found them stereotyping tamilians, but not exactly mocking them.
I guess some viewers expect/want it to be the stereo type. They are playing to such masses.
Basically it is a hindi serial for hindi viewers so they have to satisfy their exprectations.
As mentioned by somebody, stereotyping is everywhere. As long as it is insulting or derogatory, just smile it off. "Ishita" is not even a common Tamil name, but it is ok.

BLOOPER: The newspaper in the hand of Ishita's mother is not Tamil, it is Telugu.!

yeah i partially agree with u...but we cant actually call it as mocking...may be the diction or the accent of tamizh words used in the show seems to be bothering but except this one i dont think there is anything like mocking tamizh people in any other way...being a tamilian myself i feel the show is doing some justice on portraying a tamizh family...perfect example was upanayanam ceremony which i have never seen in any hindi soaps..and the way of dressing of both ishita and her mom was also appealing...
hope the creatives will try to correct the accent of tamizh words used in this show...

@Bold - Agree with your points . I was also surprised by the way the showed the Poonuz ceremony .It was correct. Ishita mom pronounce these words correctly . But some time I can't understand her tamil words she use while fighting .

I loved the Poonuzh ceremony as well. I am a gujurati and don't really know anything about the Tamil culture, so that was really interesting and refreshing for me to see. Also I loved the interaction between the jiju - saali and nephew-ishita. It all feels real and that's what I like about this show.
I like divyanka's diction and dialogue delivery too.

@bold, They did effort to make it as much as real & it happened in that way at least for me👏.. Yeah, Jiju-Saali interaction was highly realistic.!! But they could hav made Ishita to call his Jiju in tamil as well, ie..Machan/Mama/Athan...😳
