3. The Devotion of Suspect X (Mystery)
This book unlike many mystery novels reveals the killer somewhere at the beginning itself. The entire story revolves around covering up a murder that has taken place and how the police go about in figuring out the culprit. I am used to the regular plot of - a murder is committed and the reader works with the police to figure out the murderer. Higashino’s masterful writing and interesting characters makes this unconventional approach to a mystery works. Another 3.75 star book for me, which I rounded off to 4.
4. Radio Silence (Young Adult)
Radio Silence deals with friendships, identity crisis and discovering or accepting one’s sexuality in your teenage years. If this book had come out when I was in my college years, I’m sure I would have enjoyed and related to it even more. The fact that the author is quite young makes her writing about teenagers more authentic. Despite being older than her target audience, there were aspects of the book that I could relate to and thought I felt a similar way when I was in school/college. I gave this book 4 stars. The short chapters of the book also added to it being an easy read. I think I finished this book the quickest.
I will definitely be reading more of Alice Oseman’s novels.
