So Vibha slapped Parth and this was seen by Rishab who came near the rear end of the library where Parth and Vibha were standing.
Rishab - Vibha are you okay?
Vibha - (looked at Parth and then looked at Rishab sir) Yes sir, I'm fine.
Rishab - Parth, what were you doing? (Parth looked at him angrily and he looked back at him with suspicion) Main tumhari report Principal se kar dunga
Vibha - Arey, nahi Sir, I'll handle it (she fumbled a little, she thought she had to come up with a reasonable excuse to make it seem like the slap wasn't his fault, otherwise he could be in trouble)
Rishab - Tumhe darne ki koi zaroorat nahi hai Vibha, I'm there for you (he put his hand on her shoulder and Parth took a step back seeing this)
Vibha - I'm okay sir, really (she was still trying to think what to say)
Rishab - Parth, tum mujhe batao kya hua
Parth remained silent and looked at Vibha with angry eyes. She was scared of him but she was still trying to get them both of out this messy situation. Had Rishab seen her slapping him? This was the most important question on her mind.
Rishab - If you're sure Vibha, then I'll let him go
Vibha - Yes sir (came her quick response as she thought it best for Parth to go, so that unnecessary complications could be avoided)
Parth was fuming all the more, he had expected her to say something in his favour so that Rishab wouldn't be able to tell him anything. But instead, her words gave Rishab ammunition to tell Parth off.
Rishab - (with a stern voice) You can go now Parth, but be careful, next time agar maine tumhe kuch bhi galat karte hue dekha toh phir
Parth - (he couldn't control his anger anymore, he wasn't as angry with Rishab warning him, as much as he was with Vibha's silence) Toh kya? Toh karenge aap?
Vibha - (was shocked to see Parth challenging Rishab sir) Parth, chup ho jaao Parth
She tried to touch his hand to make him stop but he shook it off. Rishab noticed this and got angry too.
Rishab - Parth! Is this the way you behave with your teachers?
Parth - Kya karenge aap, boliye na. School se nikal denge, toh nikal dijiye, waise bhi koi toh khush hoga yeh jankar ki main ab is school main pareshan karne ke liye nahi hu (he looked at Vibha)
She looked back at him with sad eyes and she wanted to tell him that she hadn't hit him on purpose, just as she was not trying to take Rishab's side in making him look like a bad guy. But she just wasn't able to find the right words to make Rishab sir understand as after all, he was a senior teacher and she needed this job.
Rishab thought the situation was spiralling out of control so he ordered Parth to leave before he lost his cool. Parth stormed off and as much as Vibha wanted to follow him, she just stood there, dazed at the events leading up to and after the slap. Rishab sir asked her if she was okay and if she wanted to sit down. She assured him she was fine and said she would get on with her work.
Parth was fuming and he was starting to think her love for him was only for a moment. It was probably a moment's weakness, as he had saved her from the bad guys on the street. But did his care and concern for her mean nothing to her? Did she not see the love in his eyes only for her? Did she not feel the same way after everything that had happened? The clouded judgement due to the slap made him feel pure anger and made him rethink her emotions. He started to think that she didn't really love him and perhaps for her, he was just a little toy to play with. His mind stopped working when this thought crossed his mind. In all the time he had known her, she had always been mature and she had always been disciplined. She couldn't have just said those magical words to him if she didn't mean them. But then why didn't she say them again?
He tried to go to the library and sit and read to bring some sense of calm to his mind. His heart was still fuming and burning, as not only the slap had shattered his prestige, but Rishab's hand on her shoulder had also sparked jealousy inside of him. She let him touch her so easily, but when he was touching her, she was asking him to let go! His mind started playing games with his heart and concocting things that weren't true. He thought maybe she was leading Rishab sir on as well as him. The library made him think of her all the more. So he stormed off to the gym and got changed and started boxing. He took all his frustration out on the bag. Vibha saw him from outside and thought best not to enter as it would make him angry all the more. She thought she would talk to him when he had calmed down.
Unfortunately enough, he didn't calm down and just as he was about to go to bed, without having dinner, he thought Vibha hadn't come once to check up on him. His worse fears were coming true. He didn't think he could feel like this for anyone. And after he did for Vibha, he didn't think there could be anyone else for him. But now what? What would his future be? How would he spend the rest of his days at Warrior High? He thought if she could be strong and avoid him, then so could he. Or at least he could try. So he decided to start the next day with a new vigour, a new promise to himself to keep away from her and to focus on his studies.
--------------
Continuation...
The next day started... Parth had mixed feelings in his mind about everything that transpired the previous day. He wanted to go talk to Vibha but then he thought that she should come and talk to him as it was her that pushed him away. And if she loved him enough, then she would have to find a way to come back to him.
Vibha on the other hand did think that she did a mistake by slapping Parth, but she also felt that he was being way to young and careless and that they needed to take things slow. And be careful all the more. So she decided to not hurry to talk to him, but do so when the time was right, and no one was around.
The whole day passed, and she just didn't think that the time was right. Even after the class, as Parth was walking out, he felt she might stop her to talk to her, but she didn't and this made him angry all the more. He was starting to think that she never felt the same way about him as he did about her. And perhaps it was time he faced reality, and not keep burning in her love.
He seemed to be skipping all his meals, and keeping a distance from Vibha. She noticed he didn't turn up for dinner. So she went looking for him. She found him reading in his dorm room and wend in to talk to him.
Vibha - Parth, chalo dinner karne
He didn't say anything.
Vibha - Parth, are you okay?
He just looked up once, frowned and started reading again. Had she forgotten about the slap? Had she forgotten how Rishab sir had scolded him? Had she no respect for him? Did she not love him at all? How could she act so normal after everything?
She started wondering why Parth was not answering his questions. She went close to his bed.
Vibha - Parth, main tumse
His anger was amplifying and before he punched something, he wanted to walk away so he stood up and left the room.
Vibha didn't even get a chance to finish her sentence. This annoyed her and she walked after him. She held his hand and pulled him back.
Vibha - Parth, tum samajhte kya ho apne aap ko?
He flicked his hand so that she wouldn't touch him. He was angry.
Vibha - Parth this is not the way to behave, main tumse maafi maangna chahti thi aur tumne meri baat hi khatam hone nahi di. Gussa ho kar chal diye. Tum jana chahte ho na, toh theek hai, jaao, main nahi kahungi kuch, tum nahi khana chahte to mah khao
Parth just stood there and looked at her. He had never seen her so angry before.
Vibha - Ab khade kyon ho? Jao. Theek hai, mat jao, main hi chali jaati hu.
She left and Parth was still figuring out what just transpired. He thought he should have been angry, but instead, she was angry and she left. What was he supposed to do? Follow her? But what about his pain? What about his pride? He thought she didn't come to see him yesterday, so he won't follow her today. Maybe he will go talk to her the next day.
She slept a sleepless night. They had only said the magical words few days ago, and now this? Was their love so shallow? Was it so pointless and worthless that it got clouded over by such a trivial issue? But what if this issue wasn't trivial for him? She cried herself to sleep as she couldn't bear the pain, the pain that she thought that she had caused him unintentionally, and greater the pain that she thought he was causing her intentionally.
Vibha - (she said to herself) Theek hai, agar use mujhse baat nahi karni hai, toh main bhi use kal se avoid karungi. Mujhe bhi koi fark nahi padta.
And the next day Parth tried to look at Vibha but she kept ignoring him. She didn't even look at his face. This really hurt him and the thought of her hating him was killing him more than the pain of the last couple of days. He didn't want her to hate him and right now it seemed like she didn't love him at all.
He tried to talk to her, but she was not interested. She avoided him and she made some excuse or the other to not talk to him. She thought she was being too harsh with him, but she was starting to feel he was immature.
It was sports period and the boys were all playing football. She happened to pass by and he kept staring at her. He got lost in her thoughts and got hit by the ball, hard on his head. She noticed this and ran towards him, but then stopped mid way. He saw her coming towards him and smiled. But the smile faded as she stopped and Utkarsh asked him if he was okay. He saw Vibha and felt sad, and Utkarsh noticed this. He called Vibha maam to come help them, and told her to take Parth to the medical room. Parth stood there silent, as he felt awkward to say anything to Vibha in front of everyone.
Vibha - Partth are you okay?
He just stared at her and Utkarsh said he was hit hard on the head. So Vibha took him to the medical room. She made him sit on the bed. And he just looked down as he struggled to find words to say. Had the distance and time made them grow apart so soon? She brought ice pack for his head and reached out to his head when he stopped her. He held her hand and looked at her.
Parth - I'm sorry
Vibha - Sorry for what Parth?
Parth - For hurting you
Vibha - Its okay Parth, I'm sorry too. I didn't mean to slap you the other day
Parth - Its okay
They both said sorry to one another, they both realized their mistakes. But it still didn't feel like things were fixed between them. They both looked into each others eyes, it seemed like they had a lot of words unspoken but neither of them were saying anything else. Vibha decided to break the silence.
Vibha - If you're feeling better, then I'll go
Parth - No
Vibha - Tumhe aur kuch chahiye? Koi medicine?
Parth - Nahi Maam
Vibha - Then okay, you take care
And she left. Why wasn't he able to stop her? Why couldn't he just tell her that he missed her and wanted to be with her? She thought he didn't want to be with her either, otherwise he would have told her to sit with him and talk to him, like he used to before. But things appeared to have changed now.
Utkarsh came to the medical room and asked him if he got a chance to talk to Vibha maam, and he nodded. He asked if things were okay and he poured out his heart to him. Utkarsh told him that he should not take things so seriously and that the longer he would take to fix things, the harder it will get. So he should try and talk to her as soon as possible. Parth thanked him and then told him to tell Vibha maam that he would wait for her on the terrace after dinner.
Utkarsh let it slip to Vibha that Parth was waiting for him on the terrace. Vibha was a little annoyed as the terrace was out of bounds for students at night time. The weather was getting windy as well. She went to the terrace to find Parth waiting in a corner. He was happy to see her.
Vibha - Parth, you know this isn't allowed
Parth - Mujhe pata hai Maam, par milne ke liye aur koi jagah nahi thi
Vibha - Bolo, kyu bulaya hai yaha
Parth - I miss you a lot and I know mujhe aapse gussa nahi karna chahiye tha, but I was so angry
Vibha - Parth, its okay, I don't think...
Parth - No Maam, please mat kahiye ke things won't work out
Vibha - Par Parth...
Parth - Toh theek hai, agar aap mujhse pyar nahi karti toh aap chale jao yaha se. Main phir kabhi bhi aapse baat nahi karunga
He turned his face around and his eyes went red with anger and sadness. He didn't know what to do! He was about to punch the wall with his fist and he felt her touching his shoulder. She didn't leave, she was right there, she was standing behind him. He turned around and looked into her eyes. She looked into his, and seeing the anger in his eyes, she held his face with her palm. He held her hand and couldn't stop but say...
Parth - I love you Maam
And he then looked down. He just knew one thing, and that was that he loved her. And he wanted to be with her. She was happy to hear those words and it made realize that nothing else mattered. She had just wanted him to love her. Everything else could be sorted if that one truth existed, and it did! She raised his face and smiled at him. And then slowly put his arms around him and hugged him and whispered softly...
Vibha - I love you too!
He hugged her tight and told her how sorry he was for screwing things up. She apologized as well, and said that she thought he was being immature, but in fact they were both being immature. How could they let something so small blow up to this extent? They went more than a day without talking properly.
Parth - Apko pata hai, jab main aapse baat nahi kar paa raha tha, toh mujhe kitna bura lag raha tha
Vibha - Main samajh sakti hu Parth, kyukni main bhi wahi mahsoos kar rahi thi
Parth - I promise you, main phir kabhi aise apko hurt nahi karunga
Vibha - Ha, aur main bhi
The clouds roar and it starts to rain. They get wet and Parth holds her.
Parth - Chaliye, aap bimar pad jayengi
Vibha - Nahi, thodi der, mujhe tumhare saath rehna hai
Parth smiles and hugs her tight. She holds him with all her love and care and hugs him back.
