For the first time in years , we got the satisfaction of seeing a ' different " serial , a serial with just the right drop pf commercial value and realism in it to make it credible ...........unlike the other soaps which show women in zari saris bedcked like goddesses all the time , plastic surgeries , loss of memories, hundreds of illegitimate children and past flames that pop up like jack in the box , and silly potrayals of the concept of God . We were so tired , and so we watched Waaris with interest . It had a magnificent star cast and superb blend of commercialism and realism both . Even if Yuvraj Malhotra left the serial . it would have still survived , that good this serial really was .
But recently the storyline is getting into such a direction that Waaris may go away from the hearts of viewers ............not for Yuvraj malhotra , but for the portrayal of key characters in the show . Mainly , Rudra and Shankar and even Dharma.
It has to be remembered that in both , Godfather and Sarkar , the old Don is shown to be a remarkably sensible man , tough , but not cruel , and an asute judge of human character . Rudra has fallen in the eyes of the viewers with his senseless cruelty of ordering a hit on Simran and now , on Dharma. That is simply not in keeping with the Godfather's character . Both r innocent people , and killing them wont go down well with the viewers. The key to Godfather's success and even Sarkar was that the DON was Human . Rudra has turned Inhuman . He cud have forced Simran to flee the country ..........but he was shown wanting to kill her . Same with Dharma. Dharma who loved him like a third son , he is shown indiffrent to his death. He constantly rejects Shankar's attempts to love him.....and comes across as egoistic rather than sensible. There is nothing likable about Rudra , and in short he has become such a jerk that viewers have started disliking him intensely . There has to be a diffrence between Rudra and Ganesh Shetty . But Rudra has gone ahead of even Ganesh Shety in evilness. At least Ganesh shetty orders hits for purely business reasons..........Rudra has gone overboard ! So please resurrect this storyline before Waaris flops in the budding stage .
1] Please remember that just the Hari Om music in the background and just saying NO to drugs in business doesnt make Rudra a human don if he continues to kill innocent people .
2] Shankar killing Dharma simply doesnt make sense . Shankar saved Simran whom he barely knew for the sake of his brother , Dharma was someone he knew for his whole life , and Dharma took a bullet for him . Killing Dharma wud be the point even Shankar rebels against his dad . Underworld dons value loyalty as it is of prime importance in their profession, and they will never kill someone who took a bullet for them . They shud have shown Shankar allowing Dharma to run . This wud make him more human . By killing Dharma so mindlessly by obeing his dad , Shankar too becomes inhuman .
3] Doing away with Dharma's character at this point isnt sensible . His character is as important as Shankar and Shouryas.....the orphan who never turns disloyal althouh the sons leave at some point . That was the speciality of Dharmas character . They cud have shown him refusing to marry Swati for not wanting to miff Rudra and later witnessing helplessly her bad marraige to Sunny shetty who makes her suffer . This cud have been a lovely storyline ..........but they lost the chance.
4] They cud have shown Dharma helping from outside and informing Shankar of the snakes inside the house. Dharma was one character who never passed judgement on Rudra , the sins he incurred , right or wrong , ..........his one goal was to be eternally loyal to that family and his character shud have been developed , not destroyed .
5] Finally , corny as this sounds , please show us that the person who died was not Dharmaa but someone with a mask etc.........that Shankar saved him .somehow. Please use this cheesy technique now to save Waaris as this alone will resuurect both Shankar and Rudra in the eyes of the viewers.
6] Waaris scriptwriters read some books on the underworld and understand that they order hits only for business and very very rarely for personal reasons. What they do is a business , an illegal one and a ruthless one. They honestly look down upon the personal element in hits and seniors often diffuse it at the outset and dont encourage it . All the hits in Waaris r personal and baseless. This is not how underworld functions. Dharma will be killed if he is disloyal in business more than just being attracted to Swati . He will be asked to leave forever with a strong warning is more likely .
It is my request to the Waaris makers not to let a diffrent show die in the budding stage and give the others a chance to say the corny line ' Such shows never survive commerciially , only our formula soaps do !'
This is oh so untrue . If handled correctly Waaris can set a trend like Balika Badhu did that such serials can become bigger hits than formula serials . If Waaris fails it will not be becoz it was not a formula serial or even coz Yvraj Malhotra left it ..........it will fail only coz of unintelligent handling of the script .
