I agree. There was faugi and Udaan and scores of others before EK who made good soaps.

They were not shot beforehand and then telecast. The shooting took place as when the show progressed. But none of these shows ran for more 8 -10 months.
It was EK who brought in the loathsome leap concept.

So they were somewhat planned? Kinda like finite shows? A show seems to be doomed as soon as it crosses one year of run time.

IMO, leaps work fine in proper dramas or even movies. Soaps just can't get it right.

A leap works fine only if it takes the story forward not if the makers have really juiced the current track hard and there is no more to explore.
