Hi all,
I am new to this forum and have been reading some of your posts and , I must say, I do agree with most of what I have read about Raj.
Discussing Mohini or any of her nikkama children would be boring because they are either plain duh or black (character wise) And discussing Amrit or Preet would also not be very interesting because they are all white.
I think Raj makes a good case study 😆 with his streaks of grey, making him rather unpredictable and volatile!
We all know that he's the hero so he would eventually turn good, but let's, for the time being forget that he's a part of an Indian soap and let us shape his character.
If you were to shape Raj's character how would you do it?
We have some facts to begin with:
1) He was this sweet handicapped child who was rejected and humiliated by his father and over protected by his mother.
2) Grew up with an illusion that his best friend murdered his brother.
3) Had a girlfriend in Delhi to whom he owes a lot. But ends up just using her.
4) Falls in love with a girl and gets married to her just for revenge despite being engaged to someone else whom he's know for for past several years.
5) Ill treats Preet to the point of disgust even though he cares for her.
6) Kidnaps Preet's mother, but ensures her safety.
7) Is not interested in power and position - fair to the extent that he wants his brother to be the Shah.
And several other facts that I have overlooked.

Would love to hear your views and also why you think so!
Cheers!

He reminds me of the male lead of the famous novel Wuthering Heights. Will go to any lengths in love and hatred. As a kid too he expressed his likes and dislikes very strongly. He was always opinionated. His friendship with manu was always subjected to certain conditions. Mainly it fulfilled his own need for a kind person apart from his mom who would stand by his side. But helped manu in most ingenious ways. So a character full of contradictions.

Great comparison! Wuthering heights is an amazing book and I agree with the comparison. I think even getting married to Preet was more to do with being accepted by his father than actually avenging his brother's murder.
If he really did respect his mother, he wouldn't be living in the BH.

I don't really want to analyse Raj because child Raj and adult Raj are two different people. There's no consistency in the character because CVs needed a friend for Manu but a typical, abusive husband for Preet.
His reason for tricking Preet into marrying him makes no sense. He was apparently going to seduce Gunjan to take revenge from Manu before he found out that Manu = Preet. That sounds dumb. Raman and Gunjan weren't enemies so why on earth would Raman's soul RIP if Raj broke Gunjan's heart?
Maybe he really did want to marry and discard a Pawania girl to gain his father's acceptance. Who knows? Certainly not the CVs.

Oh wow! I think I should shut up discussing Raj's character because I actually know nothing about him

Yes, Gunjan was his initial target. Pretty disgusting since he called her Didi.

Yes. After all, he's got to follow the Bewaja family tradition of having two wives: an evil manipulator and an abused damsel in distress.

hoping that won't Happen! Especially after all the elaborate wedding that took place between Raj and Preet, it would be rather stupid if Raj actually does end up marry Sakshi!!!

I was actually hoping that it would happen so that Raj could suffer big time after discovering the truth.
