Rohit Roy's decision to quit TV industry has met with some strong reactions from colleagues. The actor is presently seen only in Viraasat. Some of his colleagues have felt that he is looking down on working on television as he has signed a few films. When questioned about this, Rohit says, "I am not disowning TV. I have started my career with TV and there is no way I would look down on it. I quit television because I had to refuse a couple of good films thanks to my hectic schedule. I didn't want to lose out on more such roles," he says.
The actor says he is upset with a colleague of his for saying that he is making tall claims. "I am not making irresponsible statements. Had I not been doing well, people would have said that I am quitting because I am not successful. But now that I am leaving when I'm still in demand, people are talking about me looking down on TV," he feels.
The actor says that his friends and family have supported his decision. "I know that it's a risk to give up TV, which offers lots of fame and money. But I have decided to take this step and I wish people would stop demoralising me if they don't want to support me," he says.
Rohit got to hear some praise from designer Narendra Kumar Ahmed, who had said that Rohit and brother Ronit are among the well-dressed people on the small screen. "I did read about it. I have always like Narendra's work... and this was before he praised me," laughs Rohit adding, "I hope we work together sometime soon." Speaking about his films, the actor says he is happy with the reaction that his forthcoming movie Delhi Heights' promos have got. "I am sure the film will appeal to people. From whatever response I have got, people seem to have found the promos interesting," he says.
