But if you look at 70s, All those Amitabh Bachchan sir's angry young man movies are on that theme only. They were loved, & worshipped. & All the Bachan movies were one man show. But look at their female characters!! They were soo strong! They had a voice, an agency, most of them were independent & they made the life choices themselves.

So why ? As the year passed we went backward in stead of moving forward! Why?

Even tamil movies had strong female characters until the 90's then the sub par crap and hero worship era began

All those K Balachander Sir's movies had such strong modern progessive female characters. How gladly Stars like Rajni Sir & Kamal Sir played supporting to those amazing women!! Do you think actors today are a bit too insecure for something like that?

What i found alarming was that Pushpa the rise was a hit in the north more than it was in the south....even the people of AP didn't like the movie that much ( from the box office collections in AP) but everyone seemed to love that movie over there except for a few people on reddit

That movie was awful with so much of problematic elements and the storyline was taken from 4-5 old Tamil and Telugu movies , how did everyone like it so much? Just because bollywood didn't give good movies at that time?

Even "that paticular song" was trash really...there are much better songs than that one which is not a good thing to brag about but that song was utter shit in terms of music and lyrics

One of his movies from 70's actually dealt with the topic of age differences in relationships....i don't think any mordern age director would even think of making this into a movie

All of us say that we live in 21st century and it's the mordern times but how was this type of content accepted in the 70's but would 100% get panned by today's audience?

You know there was an 80's hindi movie I was watching, where the girl was raped by the villain, female lead was a lady advocate & was fighting for justice. A case was filed. Court hearing & the girl won that casesmiley40

You know how? The judge announced that this monster has tried to destroy this girls' life , so now he has to mend it. He will have to MARRY the girl now. So girl got justice by getting forced legally to marry his rapist. That female lead supported it & movie portrayed it as a great justice.

Few yrs back SP also made a show on this concept starring Pankhuri Awasthy.. girl had to marry rapist but she didnt the guy she is marrying coz his face aas hidden..

I didnt watched it so idk how it ended but saw it on promos.

Scenes between Aloo Arjun & Rashmika are soo problematic!!Like what was even that! As a woman I felt disrespected!!

They have the audacity to approve something like that in 2020 is enough to tell us where we stand as a society.

Story was also nothing exceptional.

But pata hai mujhe lagta hai people in North mostly rural single screen audience loved it bcz it was new for them.Typically Hindi movies don't celebrate their hero the way movies in Telugu & Tamil do. That massy entry with background music with lots of swag, dhasu dialogues, killer screen-presence was exciting for them. That is how they feel when they watch a Salman Khan movie.

That's why people went mad watching Jawan bcz nobody had presented Srk like that before.A director working in Tamil Industry did that.

About the songs, I think most of them don't understand the lyrics, they groove on the tune & they were catchy!
