There was another movie, starring Sanjay Dutt maybe. Gulshan Grover was the main antagonist who was playing a sex-addict. The moment he used to see a girl all he wanted was to have sex. Which is okay! That's the character. But the method he used for this was unbelievable.

He used to put Sindoor in every girl's maang(including his domestic help) & tell them that they were his wife ,so let's go to bed. & All the women accepted it & gave in apart from the heroine may be.

This way of portraying woman as idiots, & helpless was soo regressive that it boiled my blood.

Exactly but just because it's a Rajini film doesn't mean that all the red flags about the movie can be ignored....most of his movies from the 90's had misogynistic dialouges cause he was in a brawl against a powerful politician and all those dialogues were directed at that person

I'm a Rajini fan but these dialogues makes me cringe so bad while rewatching those movies

But you know according to recent reports of trps of hindi movie channels; Shivaji the boss ( hindi dubbed)is one of the highest gainer in Trps, even after so many years, after such repeatative telecast..

So there must be some reason why people are loving it so much. I don't think of anyother reason apart from Rajni sir himself.
