"The media is irresponsible!"

Whether as the conniving Pallavi of Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki or the zestful host of Current Bollywood, or the dancing diva in Nach Baliye, television actress Shweta Kawatra has been accepted in all her shades.
She believes in living life with the right attitude, and this was certainly reflected in the manner with which she tackled the controversies that shrouded Shweta and husband Manav. She embraced the ouster from the reality dance show with unbelievable lan.
This vivacious actress believes she has come along way from the sari-clad roles, as she puts in a near-reality depiction in her latest, Sohni Mahiwal, on DD-1, "I have no choice," she says, sounding a bit tired of the same saas-bahu sagas. "Not that I will not do it. I have to do it to earn my bread and butter. But, if someone would pay me to sit at home, I would love to."
Shweta obviously has a different take on the projects she chooses to work on, "The exposure of DD may be restricted, but I enjoy doing Sohni Mahiwal, . It is fine if no one watches it, but it gives me satisfaction. In fact, I was even nominated Best Actress in a comic role at the HHITA for it."
Talking about Nach Baliye 2, she states, "I have been getting several offers, but I did not accept them, because I wanted to give Nach Baliye 2 my 100 per cent. When I started by journey with Nach Baliye 2, I knew I had not two but five left feet. So today, I am ecstatic that I have improved, and have left with just one left foot. In fact, our choreographers did not expect us to go beyond one episode."
She believes in learning from the valuable lessons life teaches, the reality contest has made her more appreciative of those, who manage to dance on choreographed steps, "When a choreographer asks you to move your right hand like that and not move your shoulder, or to shake your head in sync with your hips, just how does that happen!"
She may have faced flak for her first performance, but she did not let that deter her. Instead, she chooses to remember the fond memories. However, she does feel that the criticism on the show should be a little milder. "The criticism did upset me initially, but all those times when Sarojji complimented our performance, it was like turning poison into medicine."But, the journey through the show was not a bed of roses. Shweta nurses a few bitter memories, which are less likely to change, "They called us cheaters," she says, as she refers to the SIM cards controversy, where her husband Manav Gohil and her were rumoured to have purchased 200 prepaid cards to make it past the initial stages. "The media was completely irresponsible for that incident."
She asserts, "We did nothing wrong," and trails off, "It was taxing being answerable to our parents, or they being answerable to others, as people would call up and ask them why did we do all this. That was really cheap."
Of the most cherished memories she has is the time she and Manav spent together while rehearsing for hours. "Manav and I will soon be seen again in a children's film early next year. I have a guest appearance."
With their impeding second wedding anniversary, Shweta has special plans. "We are holidaying in Canada, and then off to America from there," she laughs.
So, what does this petite actress think about children? "Manav loves kids. And, what about her? She ponders for a bit, and then replies, "I do too, but only if they are others' kids," she winks mischievously.
That's Shweta for you, chirpy, happy-go-lucky, full of beans!
