**Mod's note**

As long as members r sticking to only constructive criticism about the storyline, characters and an actor's performance without going personal into the actor's life, its fine...make sure its only constructive criticism and not bashing of any actor or character happening here...else the post will b closed

I think Rashmi in a recent interview said that she was called in to do a face test for Iccha's role but was offered Tapasya's and she is glad because Iccha's role was only crying, crying and more crying, atleast from the story she had read at the time.

So Icha crying has nothing to do with Tina's acting abilities or lack thereof as some of you keep on bringing up time and again. The character is basically about a girl who has suffered and is suffering all kinds of hardship thanks to Tapasya madam and so the crying, besides now she has just lost her husband and that too very soon after marraige and in such a horrible manner, little bit mourning will be there.

No one is bashing Tina as anyone with a bit of sense would realise that it is the character and the storyline chosen by others that results in her scenes. Greater actors than her have been criticized for bad acting!!!

However, we are the viewers and as in the case world over, if you are an actor,, director, scriptwriter...., you owe it to your viewers to produce results which pleases us. After all, if you have done some good episodes the compliments come flying at you. Never ever heard any of you complain when you receive compliments.

If the character of Ichcha is getting more than her fair share of criticism , then do something about it. People do not want to see the same expression day in and day out. We are fully aware of her situation, please do not treat viewers as idiots. You don't have to have the same face, expression, crying to make us understand. We got it the first time.

If your serial is about a message - I think you should wonder why someone like Tapasya has more of a fan following considering her very negative role and her deeds!!!!!! Maybe the Uttaran team can enlighten us sometime?/

To all the respected members of the IF and the Uttaran team-

I beg to differ with whoever said that we could not compare the acting performances between 2 actors whether it is Ichca/Tapsya, Jogi/Thakurani or the rest of the actors in Uttaran.

IF is for comparison of acting, the storyline, the responses of all the members however diverse they may be. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

Critics and viewers have a right to comment on what they are watching, it is nothing personal.

If actors want recognition -they need to earn it.

What IF should not tolerate is comments on personal matters of the actors, how they look in real life etc etc. This is out of the purview of the serial and that is in poor taste.

This is on the actors performance...as they are actors and we watch them regularly, we can pass comment on their "work"...there is nothing against "tina dutta" here on the personal front...it's her job to act and if we as uttaran fan feel that her acting is not upto the mark, we can make a comment on that...I have the right to say that i like Rashmi Desai's acting as i think she fits the role hand in glove and does a fabulous job as the evil tapasya...simlarly i dont think ichcha's track is going anywhere and neither do I as a "viewer" like to see her much on screen....as far as comparisons go, since you have mentioned "constructive" then, we can comment where we don't like Tinas work and its should be taken positively..this is nothing "personal"...

Ichha crying always??? so what??? Did not Meena Kumari cry a lot and branded as the tragedy queen of silver queen? does that mean that Meena Kumari was a bad actress. But if somebody has some knowledge of history of Indian cinema than Meena Kumari alongwith Madhubala and Nutan are regarded as the three top actress Indian cinema has ever produced. Even such fine actress like Nargis does not find a mention in the top three. So crying on screen has nothing to do with the skill of acting. If Meena Kumari can cry and win millions of heart through her powerful acting, what is wrong with Ichha crying and moving millions of heart??? As a viewer it does not matter to me how much she is crying but can she make others cry with her acting??? If she can do that, there should not be any doubt about the finesse of her acting.....

As far as liking and disliking is concerned, well many people did not like Meena Kumari, but did that ever make her a lesser acting???

I think there should not be any confusion now between crying on screen and quality of acting now on...........

you are entitled to your opinion and so are the other viewers...personally i think comparing Tina's acting skills to Meena Kumari is stretching it a bit too far..seems funny ...but that again is my opinion..i fail to see Meeena Kumari's acting finesse in Tina's monotonous acting... and i think its time ichcha stood up for whats right rather than being miss goody two shoes...first a maids bechari beti, then targeted to tapasyas hatred and now a poor widow...we dont watch tv to get depressed..puhlease... and Tina had the same expression throughout..even depression had shades of acting...not just weeping and weeping...ufff

my dear freaq, it seems either you have not read it fully, or not understood it fully or trying to create an impression that it is a comparison between Meena Kumari or Tina. That is simply not on my dear.............it is just a reminder that crying has nothing to do with acting skills......if you do not like her crying acts...there are more tappuism for you to watch....anyway who has stopped you from switching off the TV when the crybabe Ichha comes on.........you can change to other channels.....and my last word....MY HISTORIOGRAPHY OF INDIAN CINEMA HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TINNA...

I completely agree that crying does not have anything to do with acting. Since each person has their own opinion, rather than tell a member what to do (which is not very polite) why doesn't everyone agree to disagree and leave it at that.

However, just to take a note out of your remarks if Ichcha can make you cry with her crying then there is no doubt about her acting finesse .............may I give my humble opinion that far from making me cry, it has not even brought a lump to my throat which some of the yesteryear actresses named by you have done. Instead there is a sense of irritation and feeling of "oh no not again". It would be nice if the director or the team could maybe suggest to Ichcha to show her emotions in a more forthright manner (which the younger Ichcha did with so much aplomb) and then maybe we would not be having this conversation.
