The audience is confused about the way the plot in 'Uttaran' is unraveling. Is the track going off beat just to create drama or is it abiding by its title 'Uttaran'?

We spoke to Tina Dutta on this and she tried to give a reasonable clarification. "Uttaran is a story about how things are handed down from one person to another. While in childhood, it was Tapasya who would give her things to Ichcha , the roles have changed now. Tapasya receives Veer as 'Uttaran' and the story unfolds. 'Uttaran' is not being stretched at all. Every story needs to have some drama and masala in it, to create a high point; otherwise the audience will just lose interest. We are still following the title but from a different angle"

It is not very uncommon on television to see the shows going off track just to create drama in order to raise the TRPs. We thought a clarification is required when we felt that 'Uttaran' was going the same way. It would help to satisfy its viewers too. Well as per Tina, the show is very much on the track and going by the basic idea, but we think otherwise. Let's wait and see what the viewers have to say!

Kitchen Champion is testing the 12 Colors queens to the hilt. They just don't have to cook, but there are game and other activities too. Every task has to be completed in the allotted time. Thus, the ladies are not wasting any precious seconds. Any distraction is bound to be met by stern response.

Pragati Thakur, a.k.a Divya Thakur of Uttaran fame, wasn't pleased by host Ronit Roy's constant chatting, and so she asked the actor to leave.

Elaborating on the incident, Pragati says, "I didn't order him to leave. I merely showed him the kitchen knife and asked him to excuse me. As a host, Ronit is supposed to keep talking to the contestants. I hadn't performed well in the previous task (game). I was allotted just 15 minutes. I was getting distracted by Ronit's questions, thus I told him to leave.'

So, was Mr. Roy offended by this gesture?

"No. He was all cool with it. As host, he was merely doing his job. He took it sportingly. He's very friendly and makes us all comfortable," Mehra added.

TellyCafe had broken the news on the entry of a new character in 'Uttaran', just a few days ago. This girl is supposed to be the illegitimate child of Jogi Thakur (Ayub Khan). The production house have honed in on rookie actress Nikita Sharma after auditioning a lot of girls,.

A reliable source says, "Unheralded actor Nikita Sharma has been finalized to play Jogi Thakur's illegitimate child. She's said to have done a few roles here or there. With the weather Gods permiting, she should start shooting today itself and viewers should see her in the show by mid-week."

Interestingly, there is slight twist to her entry.

"Earlier, this girl was supposed to gate crash during Jogi and Divya Thakur's 25th wedding anniversary celebrations. However, that is already on air. She will be shown entering Thakur's house. The house members will mistake her for a maid. That's how her look will be. However, all will be stunned when the first word that she says is, 'papa'. There's plenty of twists and turns ahead," the source added

We'd like to know if Uttaran viewers really care how much longer the ever-suffering Icchha (Tina Dutta) is going to be continuously harassed by her overly suspicious husband (Rohit Khuraana) for having being engaged to his younger brother, Veer, eons ago.

One reader, who watches the show regularly, emailed us this... "Wouldn't any girl in her right mind walk out on her husband who cunningly decorates a room (candles, alcohol, flowers et al) in hopes that his wife will sleep with his brother and prove his point that the two still have feelings for each other? Or will the scriptwriters actually come up with something believable that doesn't question the audiences intelligence?" The show, like many other shows on TV, continues to try people's patience! But then again, it's also among the top four serials on TV as per Television Rating Points (TRP) charts. Hmmm...

Nandish Sandhu wins at Gold Awards

Television actor Nandish Sandhu aka Veer is very happy as he got a Best Actor Award for his debut performance in Uttaran at Zee TV's Gold Awards.

We spoke to Nandish Sandhu aka Veer, "I am thankful to all my fans who gave me this award. This means a lot to me. I am thankful to God and the team of Uttaran who gave me an opportunity to play the character of Veer . Thank you everyone for all the love and support."

The Gold Awards happened this Saturday at Filmcity, Goregoan in Mumbai. The ceremony was to begin at 7:30pm, but the celebrities were walking in at 10.30 pm also. Rains played spoilsport in their plans. Gaurav Chopra and Mouni Roy were seen posing for pictures togther, while Ronit Roy came with his wife. What struck onlookers was that Ronit wasn't his usual self and wore a gloomy look most of the time. Apart from Nandish Sandhu, Sushant Singh Rajput aka Manav of Pavitra Rishta got the Best Actor Award while STAR Plus' successful show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai got the award for the Best Fiction show.

Gold Awards is produced by Vikas Kalantari and will air on Zee TV.

Reel is always different real life. But this one is real-ly hard to believe. Of all the people, it's the demure Tina Dutta (a.k.a Ichcha of Uttaran fame) who is emerging as the surprise tantrum queen.

If rumours are to be believed then Dutta has been giving a tough time to the unit members on the sets of Uttaran.

"Of late, Tina has had a drastic change in attitude. She's become very stubborn and doesn't co-operate with the unit members anymore. She takes regular breaks for make-up which inconveniences other actors. If she's not interested in doing a particular scene then no one can change her mind. Recently, she broke an expensive cordless mic. The concerned worker kept requesting Tina to hand over the equipment, but she insisted that she will, once she changes and removes her make-up. Tired of his appeals, an irate Dutta smashed the mic on the floor," said a source.

Despite repeated attempts, Tina Dutta remained unavailable for comment.

Well, working in television is a huge responsibility. Every actor, especially a protagonist has tremendous work pressures. After a particular point, actors become susceptible to such pressures and start indulging in petty tantrums. Tina is still young and perhaps she can be excused for this folly.

War of sexes on Kitchen champion 2

After putting to test the culinary skills of actresses who have barely stepped into their ghar ka rasoi, Kitchen Champion is back with its second season and a twist.

This season you will not only witness the fiery, strong willed women but the suave and adrenaline pumping male protagonists from various shows on Colors who will be thrown into the pits of hell's kitchen.

Kitchen Champion 2 will unleash the war of sexes where the girls and guys will be pitched against each other. Some of the names who are on the verge of giving their nod are Aditya Redij aka Raghav of Na Aana Iss Des Laado, Rohit Khurana aka Vansh of Uttaran and Romit Raj from Thoda Hai Bas Thode Ki Zaroorat Hai. Ronit Roy will host of the show but it is uncertain if Roshni Chopra was approached to host season two.

The actress had almost finalized the deal but had to back out at the last moment. Confirming the news Chopra said, "I won't be able to do the show as I will be busy with my other commitments. Things didn't work out so I was left with no option but to opt out of the project."

Reverting to our text Roy confirmed that he is hosting Kitchen Champion Season 2. He said, "Yes, Kitchen Champion 2 is set to begin soon and I will be hosting it. I am super-excited as this time it's going to be boys vs girls."

Only time will tell if the male brigade will be able to outshine the fairer sex when it comes to kitchen politics. Catfights were so last season; we hope this season that the food will do the talking!
