Chapter 8

A/N On a scale of 1 to 10 how much are you guys mad at me? 😭 I'm super sorry guys for leaving this story for so long, but I got caught up in so much work from school and my job. Midterms came up and this is my last year so I have to do my best. I know it is a short chapter, but I still hope you guys enjoy it. You guys are the ones who keep me writing, thank you so so so much, for everything!

Suraj did not even know why he was being so considerate. Actually, he didn't want to think about it, as the conclusions might be disastrous for him. So he turned his mind back to the task at hand. Chakor was standing back face to him, her hair draped on one side, he dori untied. Suraj stared at his hands and then at her the doris. An awkward silence was about to ensue if he didn't quickly ties them together. Making an effort not to touch skin, Suraj gulped as he took the strings in his hand and went to carefully tie them together. His heart was beating like a hummingbirds wings, and god only knew why. He gave a relieved sigh as he managed to tie them together with no contact, and he saw Chakor turn around.

The look on her face made him narrow his eyes. She looked like she was about to burst into laughter, not too long after sobbing so hard that left his shirt wet from tears. Chakor let loose a giggle, then a chuckle and then finally she began laughing so hard she had to hold onto the bed behind her for support.

"Itna hus kyun rahi ho? Mere moo pe kya joker dikhai de raha hai?" The comment managed to leave in giggles again and Suraj had to let loose a smile of his own. She looked incredibly cute as she tried to contain her giggling and Suraj had to say he had missed seeing her smile... Woh there! A voice in his mind had him stop and the smile dropped from his face. This was Chakor he was thinking about. Chakor, the bane of his existence and, his fathers number one enemy. Where had the words cute and Chakor come in his mind?

Before he could think about his train of thoughts any further, Chakor noticed his lack of smile and tenseness and stopped laughing. She answered back hesitantly, "Tumne humari kameez ki dori ko itne deere she bandha ke woh phirse nikal gayi, aur hume nahi pata kyun hume itni husse ayi." Suraj raise his eyebrows at her reply and just shook his head. Chakor scrunched her nose up at him in response and began walking for the door.

Chakor did not know why she had laughed as hard as she did. She supposed it was her bodies response to all of the stress that had building up inside of her these past few weeks. She hesitantly made her way to the door, almost expecting pain to hit her, even though she hadn't had difficulty walking. As she took her first cautionary steps she began to feel more confident in herself.

But it was almost as if fate was waiting for her to feel some hope, because as she took the last step towards the door she felt a crumbling pain shoot down her leg and she let out a cry. Chakor did not feel the cold, hard, floor though, and she felt she wasn't even too surprised. Suraj had caught her before she even make it half way down. His concerned face came into her vision and she gave a watery smile up at him. His warm hands were wrapped around her waist and tingles spread through Chakor's body. The pain had left, being replaced by warmth that gave her goosebumps. Quite a paradox indeed.

As she stared into Suraj's eyes, Chakor saw an unrecognizable emotion flash through his eyes, but before she could ponder anymore she felt herself get lifted up into his arms. He opened the door somehow, and with her bag slung over his shoulder, Suraj Rajvanshi took his wife Chakor Ranjvanshi out of the hospital that had been their home for the last 3 weeks.

Doctor's, nurses and patients alike watched as the couple made their way out the doors and to their car outside. Many would say, that the care in the mans eyes and the adoration in the woman's was what every relationship needed, even more than just love.

The car ride was quite as Chakor looked out her window at the scenery and Suraj stared intently at the road, in fear of getting into a car crash if he looked at Chakor and never turned back.

Suraj had almost forgotten about what had happened that first morning at the hospital, but now in such a confined space (his mother had forbidden him to take his jeep, like he would have anyways) the air in the car was stifling. All Suraj could think of was Chakor, pressed up against him, her leg wrapped around his waist and her lips on his, even for just a fraction of a second.

Suraj took a large breath in and let it out, but too late he realized his mistake when the intoxicating smell of lavender and coconut hit his nose. Suraj was sure Chakor was trying to get them killed, because DAMMIT! she smelled so good.

He shook his head frantically to rid these thoughts that had begun to frequent him and tried to focus his eyes back onto the road. Suraj didn't realize that Chakor had turned towards him a little while ago until she said to him, "Tum thik to ho na? Tume... kuch... pareshani hai Suraj?" Almost as if realizing just how caring she sounded, Chakor spoke up again. "Mera matlab hai, yeh pareshani mujhe kaha he, to hum usse kuch tips le sakte hai, aakhir hamara ek hi toh maksat hai. Tumhe pareshani karna." She pursed her lips as she contained a smile, he had turned towards her with an annoyed look on his face.

"Tumahri yeh baatein hai na, woh mujhe parashan karti hai. Tum chup rahogi, toh hume acha lagega." Suraj retorted back to Chakor, but the tone of his voice was too playful to take seriously and Chakor formed an idea in her mind. "Toh yeh baat hai. Thik hai hum baatein nahi karegenge." Suraj was a little disappointed at how easily she had stopped their banter, but he realized he had spoken too soon when he saw her turn on the radio.

Not too soon after, Suraj wished he hadn't opened his mouth. He wished he had earmuffs as Chakor screeched (because this wasn't singing) the song Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan that was playing on the radio.
"Chittiyaan kalaiyaan veOh baby meri chittiyan kalaiyan veChittiyaan kalaiyaan veOh baby meri white kalaiyaan veChittiyaan kalaiyaan veOh baby meri teri hisse aayiaan veChittiyaan kalaiyaan veOh baby meri chittiyan kalaiyan ve!"

Home couldn't come fast enough, because Chakor might have immense talent athletically, but singing was not something she was even okay at. When Suraj had tried to turn off the radio, Chakor had given him such a deadly glare, he had retracted his hands, in fear of losing it.

The haveli finally came into view, just as Chakor finished her witches version of 'Suraj Hua Madham'. Chakor was beaming as she stepped out of the car and she gave a laugh at Suraj's wide-eyed expression.

That was how Arjun and Bhagya saw them. Chakor giving a playful punch to Suraj shoulder as he rolled his eyes, a small smile on his face, his arm around her shoulder, making sure that if she felt pain he would be there to hold her up. They shared a glance of lifted eyebrows together. This was not what they had in mind when they heard of Chakor's accident.

Bhagya looked to her mother, understanding dawning her, when she realized what Tejaswini had meant when she had asked them to come to Azadgunj to help.
