I think Malhar's character development has been pretty logical so far. CVS made it pretty clear that he has issues apologizing and looking weak/vulnerable, but he did acknowledge on a few occasions that what he did to Kalyani at the beginning of their marriage was very wrong. In the KalMa date dream sequence, he apologized to her so he knows what he did was wrong. Even in the love confession, he said that he knows that their marriage started off very badly and it was because he was consumed by the pain and anger of Sampada's betrayal.
To be fair since then, he has done all that he can to make it up to her and has treated her really nicely. The trust issues that he had during the August 15th track and Swara track were remanents of trust issues stemming from Sampada's betrayal. Even then, they were not exactly trust issues per se. During the August 15th track, he felt like she overrode his instructions because she did not trust him to save Atul not that she was actively working with the terrorists. As for the Swara issue, that was more his anger and ego speaking rather than any real trust issues. But ever since Swara showed him the mirror, and sometimes you do need some third party to show you the mirror of your actions, he really curbed his trust issues and now, he trusts Kalyani 1000%.
Now what is pretty interesting is the effect of Malhar's previous behavior and actions have had on Kalyani. Because in the past he always used to doubt her and not believe her, she has now taken to lying and going behind his back to get things done, because I think part of her is not sure when he will revert back to the old Malhar Rane. In the past, it was either he doesn't trust her or he doesn't take her seriously and overrides her decisions cause he thinks he knows best.
I think Kalyani's reaction to him now, about the abortion is also pretty logical given Malhar's past actions. I think a lot of her reaction is resentment from the past because he never trusted her and his ego that he feels like he is always right and overrides her decisions. I know Malhar was coming from a good place, but he should have not forced her to abort the child in past episodes. What he did at the moment, making a choice between her life and the child was not wrong, but in all those episodes where she was saying she wants to keep the child and he was forcing an abortion, that I thought was wrong and would end badly. Because now she just feels he was waiting for the first opportunity to abort the child and does not believe him when he is trying to explain the situation. This is bringing KalMa's love story full circle because of the role reversal in this situation. Now Kalyani is the angry one that doesn't trust him anymore. I think this is well needed and the final stage in the love story. Now the next time they get remarried, it will be a happy occasion with both of their consent, no blackmailing, or anything.
I also think that we will get to see Malhar's jealous side and him winning her back cause, unlike Rachit's or Atharva's marriage track where he KNEW Kalyani was just pretending, now he KNOWS Kalyani is not pretending and she is really done with him.
True... I hope it means we see him making some efforts, because so far all he's had to do is say something and she does it,except when she's blackmailed in the name of Moksh and Anu,but even in those situations he married her, once forcefully and once while unconscious, and she eventually accepted it.
This time I really want him to fight for her. CVs owe us fans that much at least.
