Kanak parked at a short distance from Toshnival haveli. Everything looked normal from the outside. She felt a little calmer. She was hoping for a glimpse of Uma to be certain that he was ok. She lingered for a bit.

Uma was as restless in his room. He kept thinking about Kanak and Akshay. Did Akshay drop her home or did he take her elsewhere? He felt compelled to go and check.

Kanak saw Uma's car pulling out of the gate. When it sped past her, she saw that it was Uma driving! He had a frown on his face and looked dangerously handsome!

Kanak felt relieved and a little concerned at the same time. He seemed to be driving a little too fast. Thankfully the roads were empty. She turned her jeep to go home.

To her surprise, she found herself right behind Uma's car on Pushkar highway. Why was Uma going to Pushkar at this hour? She was afraid that he would spot her. She maintained a safe distance. Or she thought she did. Uma's eyesight was razor sharp due to all those yogaasans. He saw the familiar jeep behind him. There was a flash of the headlights of a truck from the opposite direction and he spotted Kanak in the driver's seat!

Shocked and surprised, he quickly pulled over to the side of the road. Confused, Kanak also slowed down. He jumped out and flagged her to stop. Thinking he might need help, she pulled over too!

When she got out of the jeep, she was shocked to see how angry he looked. He grabbed her shoulders and pulled her behind a tree and said "What is the meaning of this? Why are you driving alone on a highway at night? And why did you pull over when someone flagged?

Shocked she retorted. " Sorry. I saw you and thought you needed help. Obviously you don't. Let me get back on the road then she turned to leave but he grabbed her wrist. She looked at him mutinously. " No missy. You listen to me. Never drive alone at night. Do you get it? He barked. She tried to free her wrist and said "Don't lecture me! I can take care of myself. I am Sandhya Rathi's daughter. Remember! To her utter surprise, she was jerked close to him in a second. His right arm locked around her and she could not move a muscle! She opened her mouth to shout and he closed it with his left hand! He brought his face near hers and snarled. "Your mother had Police training! You might be as clever as her but you can't underestimate the physical strength of a man! So never take foolish risks, you hear me? Kanak listened to him with eyes as big as saucers. When he looked into them, his gaze softened and he let go of her abruptly.

Kanak shivered as she lost the warmth of his closeness and he was immediately concerned. He took off his jacket and draped across her shoulders. "Kanak I am sorry. Promise me you will not do this again! " "Drive in front of me. I will follow you till you reach home. Kanak looked at him and gave his jacket back. "Please wear this Or else,You might catch a fever again. His eyes jerked to her face. Her eyes were dewy. They looked at each other for what seemed an eternity till the horn of a passing vehicle woke them up. Uma held Kanak's hand and brought her to the jeep. He made sure that she had locked the door. He followed her to Hanuman Gali. Waited till she went inside and came out on the balcony of her room to wave at him. He lifted his arm and then drove away...
